Hi

I wondered if anyone could share any information regarding PGD / IVF treatment.

After 4 miscarriages and some thorough tests carried out a Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, it was discovered that my husband has a Chromosome Translocation which is increasing the risk of miscarriage. One of the options offered to us is to have PDG (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis) which is similar to IVF. Has anyone had this treatment and if so, do you know the success rate? How long did the process take and is it very expensive?

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your advice and info.

I've already had consultation at Guys (at the Genetics Clinic) and they have been marvellous. I really just wanted to find out if anyone had been through the PGD treatment before I decide on the next steps. It seems quite a new procedure and is fairly costly.

Smiler - yes, we've exchanged PMs before and I meant to update you on the outcome of the RMC tests. I hope all is ok with you.

Hi Puffin,

I read an article the other day about a couple who have just had a baby through PGD due to a family history of EB (severe skin condition). It was in a magazine in the Doctors Surgery, something like South of the River I think...all about healthcare in this part of London - was in the first couple of pages.

It sounds like a really positive thing. Good luck, I do hope it works out for you.

Molly

    • Thanks Sue.  No the car just drove on.  We don't know if they noticed.  We were driving behind.  We were just glad we could be with the cat, and take him to the vet, rather than leaving him there 😞
    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
    • That was very kind of you to take the cat to the vet. Did the car not stop?
