Disposing of microwave

Can anyone help us?? We live in ED but without car. We need to get rid of an old microwave (absolutely NOT re-sellable!). I know there are places to take these kind of things but can anyone advise on the nearest? Or do we contact council?

We are on East Dulwich Rd so have bus access to ED or to Peckham

I think the council's mobile, small appliances, recycling people will be in Sainsbury's car park on 3 Feb.

I put mine in front of my house with a 'Free' sign and it was gone within the hour. This 'frrecycle' method works great for all sorts of things, in my experience.

If the old kent road is too difficult to get to, Lambeth has a recycling centre in west norwood.

Think environmentally conscious when it comes time to dispose of your microwave. There are several options for microwave oven disposal to choose from besides the trash dump.

I wouldn't do that if the item is broken & unusable though especially a microwave oven.

I cut the plug off of any broken appliances and throw the plug away. Saves any chance of someone plugging it in to see if it works.

It's mixed scrap, so leave it out and it'll go. Chuck the glass rotating plate in the recycling bin.

AFAIK toughened glass isn't welcome in the recycling - only jars and bottles.

You're right. Actually, they're good to sell on eBay for around a tenner
