It recently occurred to me that there's so much lurve in these virtual rooms that the EDF could probably bear the weight of another forum heading called WLTM (Would Like To Meet - for you ignorant Smug Marrieds out there...)

It'd keep everybody happy.

The Love Grinches wouldn't have to wade through the endless unrequited lurve posts (unless they wanted to) and the Unrequited Lovers would know exactly where they could go to find The One.

Might get some new advertisers/ sponsors too...

Anyway, what do you think?

Admin, keep an eye on the thread :)

PS - I would have posted this under the About This Forum header but since no one has been in there since December 11th, the heating hasn't been on so it's freezing!

@Ladymuck - Grovel, grovel. Didn't mean to offend too much. I meant ignorant as not knowing as supposed to not wanting to know! Subtle but definite difference in my books. Sorry dear!... :)

@ Woof - As is the way of these things, if it takes off, that particular room will no doubt be full of ISMs masquerading as Lonely Hearts! *tsk*

I like this post Legal. If I was a man we'd be married!

    • Looks like they have massive issues with numbers of visitors too... “People have literally just arrived and are refusing to leave. Chaos. They booked out all the lane spaces but let people in. Absolute sh*t show.” https://www.the-londoner.co.uk/were-police-called-to-brockwell-lido/
    • I agree that someone somewhere must at one point decided on their purpose, however if anything was ever written down it is probably long lost, given the turnover of councillors and council staff . The Crofton Park noticeboards I mentioned above are solely for information about the council  and various community groups and activities, plus  various community related things such as the library times and services.  I think they are very bright, interesting and inviting, however I am not going back there solely in order to take a photo The ones in East Dulwich don't have much on them because ... well, for the reasons on this thread 🤣 Quite apart from the fact that these are supposed to be community notice boards, there are all sorts of reasons why they should not be used for private businesses to advertise, as I and others have already said. Yes there have been huge changes in the area, but I can't see how those changes affect the purpose of community noticeboards, unless you think that the changes mean that there is no longer a "community" in East Dulwich. Which would be very sad indeed. Anyway, I am stepping away from this thread now, I have other things to do 🙄
    • From experience, it's the norm that the local authority reject appeals regardless of facts. Suggest you appeal and highlight that you followed the requirements by using the app to log the parking session and the failure of the app / network to register this is a technical issue beyond your control for which you can not be held responsible for and accordingly not penalised. Also that the traffic wardens records confirm you were parked for less than the free period so again should not be penalised. Do a search on web for similar appeals The 'fight back forum' website used to be very good for people sharing there appeals experience; and looks like this is no longer running but try https://www.ftla.uk I've appealed loads of Penalty Charge Notices for myself, friends and family and all been successful. In approx half of the appeals the local authority did not even respond and were won by default.  Re 20p fee - check if you you have text message alert 'on' as these are generally charged for and if so turn it off to save text fee. Hope this helps For Clarity, you need to follow the process, so have to first appeal to the local authority that issued the PCN (sounds like you've done this).  Then you can appeal to the London Tribunals and the local authority have to tell you this and tell you your reference number to submit this appeal.   Also when you submit appeal - choose 'no contravention occurred'
    • I’ve read the thread, but no one on the thread has authority over the noticeboards. There must be something written somewhere spelling out the purpose of them;  if they’re not serving that purpose maybe the purpose should change.  I’m interested, not because I have a business which I wish to advertise, but because I’ve seen noticeboards elsewhere that have a richer more reflective feel maybe a bit like a physical manifestation of the What’s on on section of this forum but more
