hello,

i?m new here in south-east-london and hardly know anyone in this area. i moved here to my partners place (he is british) and want to make some contacts for sports, having a coffee, shopping, getting to know this area better and so on...:)-D

i?m 29, german background, female...

i would like to get to know only female members as friends here (for meeting up);-)

thank you ever so much for reading my post and i?m very much looking forward for getting some replies

hello ladymuck,

thank you very much for your reply:))

when meeting up in groups i absolutely don?t mind meeting men as well...i?m just worried to get requests for dates, that?s actually all about it:-$...i don?t know how it works here and maybe i sound a little bit clumsy:-$ (as english is not my first language)

so i?m not against men :))...i?m just searching for friends:)-D

your edf sounds very interesting! so i should pop over to see how it is...

...but i would still be interested in meeting people face to face, having conversations, having a coffee etc...

i?m not so much a "big group" person and find it more difficult in finding friends in big groups but i will try as well.

if there still is anyone who prefers to meet in little groups as well, who loves art, culture, conversations ect i would be very happy:))

thank your very much for reading!

Just to reassure you...I'm not interested in dating men either (very happily married!)...and no-one at the drinks has ever approached me in that way...in fact the men have been pretty gallant and a pleasure to meet. I have also made some fabulous friends as a result of attending the drinks (both male and female)...so there you go...I don't think you would have anything to lose by attending. Oh, and you don't sound clumsy at all. Willkomm und bis spater denn!

Blimey!

"i?m just worried to get requests for dates"

When I was in my teens and 20s I would have LOVED to have got requests for dates.

Never had that confidence and never got them.

One can always turn them away/down if one gets such requests.

But to get them when they're really wanted, never happened!

MrPR came along just as I was heading for the atheist nunnery(!)

this is true>:D i have a partner:)

as i have a partner for the last three years i don?t want to meet other men "just the two of us" as long as i don?t know them...that?s all...i think no partner in this universe would like this (well i wouldn?t like to see that my partner is meeting single girls and going out with them;-))...

if i would be a single it would be different of course:))

good that you didn?t become a nun...and found a partner>:D<

If you're into folk music, come along to one of our Goose events, ask for me (Sue) and I'll introduce you to some people xxx

See our website

www.thegooseisout.com

Next one is on Friday (8 January) , but if you prefer smaller gatherings, the Friday after (15 January).

PS Met my partner at a party in my late fifties :-$ Never too late :-$

hi,

@ sue: oh, i can?t really say that i?m into folk musik...but this is just because i?m from germany and we never hear it there... so i just don?t know it very well.:-$ but it looks very entertaining>:D i didn?t mean it in a bad way but i don?t think it?s very nice towards my partner to go out with other men while he sits at home waiting for me...that?s all it is:)

Hi Mogs,

Do you have full details please? I.e. cost, location, full address etc. I would be very interested.

Tony.

hi,

oh...quite a lot is written here when i was away...

about my smileys: well, i like them as in a forum you can?t really express everything with words and the faces (smileys) can help a bit....make it more "alive".

about the badminton: :-$ you can be happy that you have never seen me playing! i?m so bad that it?s hard to believe that someone can actually have this little talent in playing it!...really! so maybe it?s not the right thing for me to do...

but thank you very much for your idea! every idea and every help is very much appreciated and i?m very happy for getting it!

    • I think the Brixton Pound lives on, so there must be some kind of appetite for it, but I'm afraid I doubt it would be very useful for me.
    • My primary issue is the noise level and the fact that it begins at dusk and continues well into the early hours, the odd random bang being possibly the worst aspect as you never know when the next volley will occur. This is no longer about celebrating a turning point as the clock strikes 12am, but more a lengthy indulgence in ear shattering bangs, where there also seems to be competition as to who can create the loudest most startling barrage of sustained noise. A new thing is daytime fireworks, where buyers are urged to forget the visual aspect and focus on getting the biggest bang for their buck. I am lucky as I am not super sensitive to noise but I really feel for those who are. As for pets, I am afraid there are now many that require serious medication to get them through- and those meds are not cheap. The fault here is not with the animals or people sensitive to extreme bangs, but with those who insist on their right to impose it on all around them, not just for half an hour a few times a year, but for hours on customary dates and now  spreading to random events throughout the year.I  New Year fireworks is a very recent construct, and now Halloween Fireworks are becoming a thing. Why should we encourage and condone a proliferating societal noise addiction? It really is isn't healthy. Let those who wish to damage their eardrums enjoy their pastime through headphones; they can turn the volume up as high as they like.  If last night was the end of it then that is great but I think there'll be more through the weekend and more discarded jumbo firework boxes dumped in the park. I hope we follow other countries in adopting low noise fireworks and drone shows instead.
    • NYE is always like this. If you’re concerned about your pets, please consider seeing a vet as they can help. We give our dog valerian and play calming music, which helps especially after long walks and a big dinner. If it’s for yourself, it’s one night, so also suggest seeing your doctor for advice.  It is loud, although more predictable ( kept to evening:to midnight) than Guy Fawkes celebrations which go on for days and are arguably selfish and inconsiderate. Either way, it’s a very difficult time for many.
    • Thanks Rowan! Well done you have done amazing on your fitness journey. Happy New Year EDF and all my wonderful clients whom I've had the pleasure to train this year. I'm looking forward to 2026 🙌🎊
