Hello Admin!

Thanks for a fantastic forum.

I keep clicking on attachments (like images), expecting them to open in a new browser tab - instead the browser will keep the same tab, navigate away from the forum page and to the attachment.

Have you ever considered adding a target=_new or similar to linked attachments? I think this may be more along the lines of typical UX expectations of today and I noticed that this is already the behaviour for links in posts. Would be awesome if it was doing the same with the attachments!

Curious to hear if anyone else is thinking the same thing.

Hello, Re, Private message section, when trying to send one, I get a message that says 'you cannot keep a copy of this message. your storage space is full.' A friend tried to send me one and got the same message, both her and my message boxes were not full, even though capacity shows 100% full. Any idea what has happened?

Try it now, the Private Message table on the database was rather large and so I changed the limit of messages to 500 from 1,000 (Who needs more than 500 message? I thought). It obviously had an adverse effect so I've changed it back to 1,000.

Dear Admin

I have tried a number of times to ask a question on Cllr Barbers thread ' East Dulwich Cllr, how can I help?

I cannot get the post to register on the thread despite going through the preview and post message way that I've done a number of times?

I could PM him but my question may be of interest to others and so though I would ask you if you have had similar messages regarding his thread

Many thanks

Hi when you say "the Lounge will show up as being 'Keef' or indeed 'Narnia'", what exactly are you seeing? What part of the Lounge shows up as Keef or Narnia? The title? Sorry I'm a bit confused, if you could expand on what happens and what you see that'll help.
  • Administrator

Ah, so it's the Google Search results showing up Keef in their quick links. https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?q=east%20dulwich%20forum#newwindow=1&q=east+dulwich+forum

I'm not sure why that is, I'll see if I can change it through Google's Webmaster Tools.

    • They'd been there for days but I hadn't tied them to this thread. Nice work, it was bugging me!
    • Off topic, but when I was a kid in Streatham, long ago, apart from the milkman (rarely if ever milkwoman),  who also delivered yoghurt - very exotic - in little glass jars, we also had regular deliveries of coal, bread and cheesecakes (not the kind we know now, they had coconut on top), fruit and veg,  and paraffin (both pink and blue). I'm not entirely sure we have lost "something amazing" by buying milk in shops. The glass bottles were left on the doorstep and the metallic tops were pecked through by birds getting at the cream/milk. Or else the bottles were nicked.  And then there was the rag and bone man.... bell and horse and cart, just like Steptoe. God I'm old. We didn't have supermarket deliveries. We didn't have supermarkets. I remember the first supermarket opening in Streatham. It  was quite amazing having to walk round and  put your own shopping in a basket. As you were ..... Sorry OP and admin.
    • Yep, I hear you. Been waiting for modern milkman to these parts and plan to try them out. I still remember Dennis, our Egg-man, from my childhood, who used to deliver dozens in his Citroen 2C and came to collect the boxes the following week. Happy Days.
    • I always feel we lost something amazing when we moved away from home milk delivery with glass bottles using electric floats to driving to supermarkets and buying milk in plastic bottles. Hindsight says we should have valued the good old milky more
