So the first train of the day (6:02) was more or less running on time this morning - but East Dulwich station was locked up. Is this Southern incompetence or have I missed something? Can I suggest that everyone else inconvenienced (there were a dozen of us who gallingly watched the train go past above us) gets in touch with Southern to complain? I'm now going to miss a pre-booked train to Manchester. Great start to the week!
I signed up to Twitter exclusively for the purpose of yelling at useless companies and praising their individual employees! I try to keep a mix of the two so it's not all whining. I would say it doesn't achieve much but it's a lot easier then putting pen to paper for the same effect...

Yesterday the trains were awful.

No trains from East and North Dulwich yesterday, however there were trains running between Peckham Rye and Tulse Hill on the same piece of track!

Southern Website just said trains weren't running:

"London Bridge to Crystal Palace via Tulse Hill services will not run. No trains will call at East Dulwich or North Dulwich, passengers may use local buses to connect with other Southern train services."

Train companies and TFL always get back to me on twitter. When I pointed

out Thameslink was voted worst train company in the UK - they retweeted it :)

My followers don't like me moaning however and I always lose a few.

Govia (Southern's parent company) was awarded the franchise for Thameslink, Southern & Gt. Northern in 2014 (together known as GTR)

Check out article in Evening Standard 14th Jan 2016. www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/southern-railways-ordered-by-mps-to-improve-abysmal-service

Govia connected to 'Go Ahead' too. So much for the promised competition which would improve the railways.....

Jeremy, this was the first Sunday for a long while that there have been engineering works. The weekend services could be better but they are not a joke. Some poeple (not you) think it's too difficult to check if a train is running normally (get the app and it takes 30 seconds) and then damn the whole service because of it.

And as I pointed out recently, East Dulwich didn't used to have a weekend service at all...

That is not strictly true - there were also no trains last Sunday 7th

  • 2 weeks later...

Agree, but you have to be delayed for more than 30 minutes to claim. I've had loads of delays in the last 12 months but only 2 or 3 of 30 minutes or over.

    • Hello,  I am a 52-year old mother and an integrative counsellor who lives and works in West Dulwich, SE21. In mid January I am starting a new training in Parent Infant Psychotherapy (helping parents to bond with their babies), and a key component of the course is a 24-month infant observation.  I’m looking for someone who will be giving birth ideally in January or February and who would allow me to observe their baby for one hour a week until the baby’s second birthday. The baby can be awake or asleep, playing, feeding, eating or interacting with carer/s and family members - whatever they normally do at that time.  The purpose of the observation is to enable me to gain a thorough knowledge of very early infant development and to develop the capacity to maintain an observationally minded and non-judgemental attitude in my work as an infant-parent psychotherapist.  I will provide enhanced DBS clearance and I’m happy to answer any questions.  Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07949716043. I would be extremely grateful for any leads. Many thanks,  Millie  Millie Burton, MBACP Integrative Counsellor [email protected] millieburton.com
    • I keep my promises...had the Sweet & Sour Chicken.  It was great - the best sweet and sour dish I've ever had. The chicken itself was good and the sauce seemed home made with real vegetables and pineapple - it is NOT the red sugar sauce goo you get elsewhere.  The Korean fried chicken was very good but the sweet chili sauce was much more chili than sweet - just far too spicy for me. There is a honey something sauce that I will get next time. Egg fried veggie rice was good as a side.  We also ordered the chicken katsu curry which was polished off so quickly I didn't get to taste it. It looked very good tho. SD is not like Magic Wok used to be - cheap and filling but junk food. (Don't get me wrong - I went often to Magic Wok). SD's food is much higher quality, real ingredients, chunky portions, freshly prepared. I'll be back, for sure.
