Hi all,

I've just come back to the forum and slightly surprised by some of the responses!

I really appreciate we are lucky to have these midwife services. I've just been disappointed with the care to date - 2 cancelled appointments and then the letter saying that home visits were no longer possible. There were issues raised at my scans that I wanted to discuss with someone and I haven't been able to so far - not an emergency, just wanting a bit of reassurance.

I totally understand how busy the midwives are, but when I met Emily - who was, as I said, lovely - I was given a statement of the care I would recieve, including home visits. It's not surprising that I - and others - are sad this can't happen - how much more pleasant to sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and chat to the midwife!

Anyway, I have my booking in appointment on Monday and hopefully all will be well. Thank you to everyone who came back with positive feedback and good suggestions - it has been very helpful and reassuring.

I just wanted to add that I had my booking in appointment today. Seems that short staff numbers have been exacerbated by sickness. The midwife I saw was lovely and I'm feeling a lot better. Its a shame about the dreaded answerphone! Even the receptionist at the surgery was rolling her eyes as she tried to let them know I'd arrived. So I'm glad I stuck with Oakwood, and just hope they can soon get their numbers back up - for their sakes if nothing else!

I too had an appointment today, and it all went very well and I also feel a lot better! I met 2 of my 3 midwives that will rotate in the classes with me. They were both lovely. They are very busy and I feel very lucky to be a part of this service. They are doing their very best to keep up such a good service even with short staffing issues.

Thank you Oakwood!

    • I'm paying £31 pcm for full fibre 300, whatever that is. I'm not sure it's a particularly good deal now, but I did a comparison at the time I went onto it, and it was then. I don't have a landline any more, and my mobile is with iD, who piggyback off 3. I don't usually have any problems,  except once a few years back when the whole 3  network (?) went  down for quite a long time.
    • I have Plusnet too.   I recently (August) had some problems with WiFi connection on different days but and the turning off and turning on didn’t work.  The WiFi didn’t work for quite a few hours - overnight in one case but eventually rectified itself.   Would be interested to know how much other people pay for Plusnet. I also have a landline with them as the mobile signal is bad inside house.  That is with EE and I want to change from them to another provider.
    • That's terrible 🤬 Was it the same company both times?
    • Ooh I must try there.. not much for vegan partner, so I will go with a fishy friend 🐟
