There was an accident, I think on East Dulwich Road, near the junction with Peckham Rye. I came past on my bike at about 8.45 and there were loads of police milling about on the corner, and what looked like some personal belongings in the middle of the road.

There were also about 15 buses backed up on Barry Road, going nowhere.

Junction of Peckham rye and east dulwich road was taped off by police-about half a dozen police officers around at 8.30ish. Traffic accident possibly-it has been very dangerous there for pedestirans since the crossings have been out of use due to roadworks?

Yes, a young girl was hit by a truck this morning on the junction. I walked past just before 8.10am and it looked like it had just happened. There was one ambulance guy on the scene already, and the first of the ambulance vans was just arriving then.

I would have offered my assistance, but they ambulance guys and bystanders looked like the had it under control as best they could.

She looked in bad shape and I am really dismayed to hear that she has passed away.

Very, very tragic indeed. My thoughts go out to the families involved.

Just a polite reminder that the family of those involved will be local and may well read this forum. Discretion is advised.

I understand, hence asking a possible 'eye' witness.

rather than allow continued speculation....

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
