jane7
Does any one know a local specialist who does tests for food or other allergies? My daughter is coming up in very itchy rashes and we can't figure out the cause. Ann
I would go to your GP who can make the appropriate referrals. There are various tests they can do that are not painful or stressful that could identify any allergins. I think it should be done through the proper channels so to speak. lorraineliyanage
Monica at Healthmatters does food and other allergy testing. Her username on here is monica or pop into the shop and speak to her, she's very knowledgeable.Edited to add that Monica is a trained food nutritionist and has various other qualifications, I am sure she can list them for you. EDmummy
PLEASE see a trained allergist through a referral from your GP and not someone who runs a health shop, however knowledgeable they may be. The Nappy Lady
Not quite the same reasons, but my doctor has been very happy to refer my daughter for some tests, and to see a nutritionalist, all via the NHS, so you should be able to get this sorted very easily.Good luck.Mollyx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9961-looking-for-allergy-specialist/#findComment-296257 Share on other sites
peckhambelle
My son has been seen through the allergy clinic at St Thomas' Hospital and they are excellent, but you might find there is quite a wait to be seen. To speed things up (and put our mind at rest) we saw Dr George du Toit privately for one consultation and then got referred back into the NHS clinic, which has worked really well. One tip is to start keeping a diary of when your daughter's itches come and go, and what you suspect caused it at the time, because it is impossible to remember it all when you are in the consulting room. And keep a bottle of Piriton handy. Good luck. Jamma
If you are properly ill you go see a doctor. Health Matters employs no doctors.Allergies, proper ones, are serious and best taken seriously so go through the NHS. My nephew did, was properly diagnosed and his parents now know what to avoid.
