P13/484 bus rear door only trial

From Friday 10th April, as part of a two week TfL trial to increase bus driver protection from COVID-19, passengers on routes P13 and 484, along with other bus routes operated by Abellio's Walworth bus garage will only allow passengers to exit and enter using the rear door only.

During this trial, passengers won't have to touch in using Oyster or Contactless.

With the escalating number of London bus drivers dying from COVID 19 it's about time something was done to try and protect them.

Their health has no price.

In all honesty I doubt if they will even notice if people dont pay.

The number 12 from Oxford Circus to Peckham or the other way round is not known as the charity bus for nothing.

Nobody pays. Next time when you use the bus in better times just look and take note.

The drivers need to be better looked after, As Khan's father was a bus driver you would have thought he would have taken better care of them.

Yes, I AM for real and YES I do use the buses.

If you can afford and want to pay more tax good on you, but don't expect everyone to be on whatever you earn.

Agreed!

Unbelievable. The number of people actually on buses is negligible, and if it's solely keyworkers, I don't give a toss if it's free for them. Bigger issues to worry about.

It's no longer the charity bus, they changed it so everyone has to get on the front door and exit from the other two doors in March.

They're currently not working on buses either due to social distancing.

Since when? I was at DKH this afternoon and a P13 was empty going to Streatham. Regardless of the 'free' ride.

People are really not very bright are they, if they're going out just to cruise the buses now they are free.

The buses are running so key workers can get to work - and people who have to travel are able to.

Travelling to work is one of the highest risk of catching the virus.

I think TfL have more important things to think about than fares at the moment.

Having said that, maybe they should increase the fares for all travel, unless you can prove you need to take your journey.

I don't see any benefit in increasing fares either, Most people are using the buses sensibly during the lockdown, only using them for essential journeys. Raising fares won't fill the loss of revenue with such low numbers using them.
