What is a non-competitive sports day??
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to ChavWivaLawDegree's topic in The Lounge
She does Taekwondo and dance and swimming and climbing on everything taller than her, but that's not the point. She now has no way of showing the brainy kids that she is better than them at something, so they will leave school thinking they are the bees knees, when they aren't.....ok... maybe that's the whole idea! Tony Blair was crap at sports, and hated feeling inferior to anyone, so he's reconstructed all the schools with posh or neeky kids in, in such a way that their superiority will never be called into question. Now I've got it. "Mind you it's the geeks who are all uber-competitive playing counterstrike and wii bowling" - exactly! The only competition allowed now, is on THEIR terms!! -
What is a non-competitive sports day??

I don't think they could have got away with it on my old estate! I might just have to pack up and move back to Elephant, It's all too much for me to take in. -
I have just witnessed my first non-competitive sports day, and am devastated. I was expecting my hyperactive, can't-sit-still-in-the-class-room-long-enough-to-learn-much daughter to ace all the races, jumps and other sports events, as usual, but no. The bloody fat-arse, sitting-playing-computer-games, neeky kids have ruined her one chance to shine by whining so much when they don't win anything, that sports day is now NON BLOODY COMPETITIVE! I'll be more than happy to have sports day as non competitive if they do the same with SATs and GCSE's, in the meantime, let my daughter be better than the other kids at something will you!! Title changed from "What the F**k is a non-competitive sports day??!" - The Administrator

I don't suppose there are actually that many Gorgeous Grannys round ED cos most of the mum's are granny age (40+) when they have their first kid so unless you have a think for wrinklies GILF's may be in short supply anyway.

Louisa & others - my friend has a blind/autistic 10 year daughter who can't walk far and walks at a snails pace when she does. My friend has a blue badge as she is her carer and if she was not able to park in the disabled bay (which often she isn't because of illegal parking) she would have a very difficult time ever getting any shopping done. Her daughter is too heavy to carry for more than the time it takes her to sit her inside the shopping trolley while she wheels her around, and she has to have regular physiotherapy because all the lifting of her daughter has messed her back up. Now do you understand why there are disabled bays? Or do you think her already extremely difficult life should be made worse?

What happens when a MILF's kid has a kid? Are they then a GILF? And isn't that a bit gross even if they are still well put together?

Oh no, I'm finding myself agreeing with James! I'd like to add that it is also the responsibility of everyone in a community to help raise the children in that community, which is something else the logo-centric, consumer led western world forgot or destroyed here centuries ago and has failed to re-learn from the developing world, imposing our warped intellectualised 'superior' model on them instead.

C'mon guys, you will be able to learn all about how to live a greener life if you go -
I gotta admit, I think it has been beneficial(to the elite) to a consumer led society for people to be broken down into smaller and smaller units (each one needing to buy a TV, washing machine, car etc) and after the break up of firstly the extended family in the 60's, then the 2 parent family in the 80's, we are now witnessing the fallout. The family is the strongest unit in society (capable of challenging the state in some instances eg Mafia) and needs to be promoted. When my daughter got pregnant last year by her long term boyfriend, he was hustled up the aisle before the p@@s on the pregnancy test was dry! I brought up 4 kids, mostly on my own, and it's hard work, so yes I do think it should be easier to be in a couple if you are broke or on benefits, instead of the benefit and tax credit systems taking away the womans independence by withdrawing payment if she gets a man in her life.

Even though there isn't one here, I'd say Pret a Manger

My boyfriend gets very upset when I refuse to breastfeed him in public, I think it's about time we had a breastfeeding revolution

cowbear - I was truly impressed by your knowledege of African languages - until I googled the words and found them myself. I then felt the need to demonstrate that although your attempt at rooting out a spoofer seemed a good one, in this age of instant access to all kinds of strange and bizarre knowledge, your test is flawed. Now I feel adrift.

citizenED - ooh thanx, it was a bit late so that's my excuse for omitting such a don from my list!

Dom - Lions don't tend to live in couples, and I don't think chimps or hippos do either. Baby's need feeding all through the day and can't be left at home like dogs or you'll get arrested. Public transport - if the baby is bawling, I'm sure the passengers would prefer the mum to stick a tit in it's mouth and shut it up than leave it to scream. Personal grooming - most people would just do that stuff at a time where there is some privacy because it's not actually necessary to do it in public unless you accidentally sh@t or pi@s yourself (maybe you should invest in some daddy pampers Dom). I think no-one can be justified in telling any woman not to feed her baby in public, by breast or bottle, but I do think this is not actually about breastfeeding at all (except for Dom who just seems repressed). I think it has more to do with some women trying to make a statement or just using it as an excuse to be aggressive or exhibitionist and condemning anyone who wants to tackle their aggressive or exhibitionist behaviour. I personally think these type of women are funny and more than a bit repressed themselves, and this is why something which is no big deal comes over as artificial and attention seeking.

I have to admit, some women who do breastfeed do seem a bit on the exhibitionist side. I breastfed all 4 of my kids, and my 19 year old daughter breastfeeds her baby. I never hid away to feed my children, and if anyone had tried to complain I'd have told them where to go, but I didn't shove it in people's faces either. I noticed at the school fair yesterday a mum was breastfeeding her kid on the main steps, as if to make a point, but my daughter automatically went around the corner a bit where she could feed her daughter in peace. She doesn't have a problem feeding her baby anywhere, on the bus, in the park, wherever her baby gets hungry, but she's not trying to make a statement, she just gets on with it and if anyone tried to make her feel like she shouldn't she'd use even stronger language than me to tell them where to go!! So really we need to ask, are the women breastfeeding so deliberately publicly trying to make a statement or just feeding their children? If the former, we still need to look at why they feel the need to make a public statement about something which really shouldn't be an issue any more.
