  1. The poor, poor woman. And her kids too. For what it's worth, the best wishes of some stranger on the internet are being sent her way.
  2. Perhaps this might be of use: http://www.victoriansociety.org.uk/adv6.html
  3. Those with real committment get themsevlves catheterised beforehand.
  4. Any idea how many pints that equates to? (Apart from too many?)
  5. Sounds messy, whatever it is.
  6. At work. Every now and then I have set a long process going and... No, sadly that's a lie. I'm just taking too many breaks.
  7. Quite so, SeanMac. And we shall soundly rebuke any scoundrel who claims otherwise.
  8. Why on earth did I say that? It all makes perfect sense to me.
  9. Are you sure you're not Batdog, DM? ;) (edit: or, equally, are you sure you're not Batdog, DM?)
  10. Ah, comedy... it's such a fragile thing, really.

Doesn't stop the geordie lasses, and they're at a similar latitude.
  12. On the telly he is very annoying indeed. I'm prepared to accept that he may well be better live. His humour seems like it would be better in a sort of shared, colluding type of atmosphere that you rarely get with the telly.

*is still suffering, but from lack of sleep more than anything else... still haven't caught up*
  14. Not quite sure what you mean, Ma. Do you mean you're trying to find out who owns a particular house? If so, I think the Land Registry might be able to help.
  15. Apparently I'm an orange circle... I'm not entirely convinced.
  16. Morning all, I spoke to my neighbours last night who'd been reading this thread. They're also concerned about the possible loss of the Concrete House and have asked me to say that if anyone is interested in starting up a campaign to save the house they're willing to set up a website to co-ordinate it all. They were suggesting we write letters and leaflets, and use the freedom of information act to get even more information about what's really going on. So - anyone interested? The more people that get involved, the less each individual will have to do. (And just a quick thought: if we get going in time we could even have something to show to people at the EDF Fair in May and reach even more people in ED.)
  17. I feel quite good, actually, and am looking forward to an afternoon in the park. Must have been all that water I drank.

*enters as a dust mote on a sunbeam and slowly expands to normal size and shape* *feels surprisingly good given the amount of guinness consumed last night* *hope Keef doesn't mind that the pint he so kindly bought wasn't consumed - but knows that if it had been this morning would have been rather differfent*
  19. Ha! Posting at 1.25 am DM? You are SO busted. (And I'm glad I'm not the only one posting on here following the drinks.) *waits for bottle to warm up*
  20. I think there's one at the library. No idea whether it's any good though. Last thing I read was Michael Moorcock, Behold The Man. It was OK... quite good actually. First of his that I've read. Classed as sci-fi because it involves time-travel, but really that's only a small part of it. Explores the reality/myth of Jesus and the crucifixion.
  21. Shortly before we moved to ED we looked at a beautiful house in Ivydale Road. It was massive! Three double bedrooms and done up really nicely, decent-sized garden that backed onto the cemetary and seemed really peaceful... Couldn't afford it. :/
  22. Perhaps they'll send a reporter to cover the drinks tonight, notepad in hand ready to record any whiff of a local scandal.
  23. I see lounging as a good thing.
  24. Mmm... yummy mummies :)
  25. Is she coming along tonight? ;)
