  1. Fair point Simon, though I meant the wholesale and often substandard imports of the modern era, rather than the occasional classy signing.
  2. The makers of Blair Watch now bring us Boris Watch
  3. No need for nerves, it really isn't intimidating at all, very very friendly. That said, I probably won't be there :(
  4. That's what I've ended up doing Atila. Dulwich Hamlets you can do entrance, cuppa, pint and food and easily have change from 15 quid (especially if you win the number of balls out of the ground sweepstake). On the subject of Managers buying too many foreigners, wassnt it our own dear Harry who started the whole trend (with some horrendous signings) after the 94 world cup? Remeber Florin 'Kings Rd Shopper' Raducioiu?
  5. I'm in my mid 30s and still hungover from Sunday, so I can believe those stats
  6. Consider yourself on the team. I reckon we'll make 11 though, getting them across to Battersea on the day may end up being a bit of a struggle. Mind you, it's 5 minutes from Denmark Hill!!
  7. Nintendo took a while to get the full online stuff up and running, so Wii Sports can't be played online, though your wii buddies occasionally wander in as spectators. Mario Karts is fully online, but you can only play your wii buddies, there's no concept of being matched up to other players a la Halo 3
  8. Think I'll wander down to zaavi on Tottenham Ct Rd, probably for mario karts.
  9. I didn't do any of that euphoria nonsense. I always thought he was a charlatan and a wrong'un. This lot have betrayed everything they claimed to stand for pretty much since day one. I've no love of the Tories, but I'd rather see them back in than allow this lot any more time in power. I think time out of power has done them good, and hopefully getting Labour getting kicked out of office will allow some time for introspection and re-finding what it is they are supposed to be about, which isn't supposed to be courting power for power's sake.
  10. ha ha, that's exactly what I'm about to do. Do eeeet, dooooo eeeeet
  11. Is Finbarr Saunders here today? The Bridge House is within sight of it and is ok, a bit characterless but the beer and barmaids are good. No really great pubs nearby though.
  12. "When Alexander of Macedonia was 33 years old he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds left to conquer. Bristow is only 27" Syd Waddell
  13. FFS this thread is entitled 'great quotes', not school playground football toss. Take it to the footie room.
  14. page 11 ?!! aaaanyway "The great tragedy of science is the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by an ugly fact" "I'm far too much of a cynic to deny the possibility of anything [except homeopathy]" T. H. Huxley
  15. blimey, trying to find a detailed map of London's boroughs is hard work. Here's an old one to warm Alan Dale's cockles though http://www.hipkiss.org/data/maps/bartholomews-pocket_atlas-and-guide-to-london_1922_metropolitan-boroughs_2000_1486_600.jpg
  16. Gits have moved my polling station without mentioning it to anyone on the estate. And you try looking on here for where your polling station is. http://www.londonelects.org.uk/ You hunt around, find a place to put your postcode and it takes me to the southwark page. No shit sherlock!!, not to mention that my new polling station (having phoned up the electoral services commission, all a little bit late for my vote though) appears to be in Lambeth!!
  17. Moos, we're a random mish-mash of talent and lack thereof, but it's all about running about for a laugh rather than fierce competition. If Mr Moos os willing to give it a go he's more than welcome. Throwing, catching and hitting a ball with a funny shaped stick can't be that hard can it?
  18. I found myself curiously vociferous in favour of Chelsea (which more or less represents all that is wrong in the modern game). I can only think I'm still bitter about 2006. Last night was Liverpool's comeuppance. Karma for their unsporting play. Agreed, not great football, but very exciting encounter even for a neutral. And the best team on the night did win. As for the penalty that wasn't, someone in the pub seemed to think it was for a shove rather for offside which would have made no sense at all (offside, can't comment on the shove). Frank was a pretty decent fella at our place and was always unfairly maligned by a large section of the fans. Agreed his ego has somewhat expanded with his status at Chelsea which doesn't make him likeable, but you'd have to have a hard heart not to doff your cap in his direction for last night.
  19. could bessie be aussie slang for best friend? No no, we want your cakes girls. And hot & spicy chicken wings?
  20. I knooooooow *sobs deeply*
  21. I can't say I've completely downsized, but I do enjoy the Hamlets, especially as Premiership is SUCH a rip-off these days. Have also frequented Broadhall Way for many years, and had a penchant for Stoke at uni at the end of their Victoria Ground days. Can never stop loving the Hammers though, and may go a bit more often when I haven't got a wedding/honeymoon to pay for.
  22. Yeah, alriiiiight, I'll finish it already!!!
  23. My mate saw Juande Ramos in Barcelona on saturday (the tapas bar, not the city)
  24. brilliant http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/04/24/nogc124.xml
