  1. one for brendan can you see that? It's the 'penrith' tea room. It's actually in Stony Stratford outside Milton Keynes and is a chemist now. I went in and bought some aspirin and muttered 'and the finest wines available to humanity' under my breath. I'm sure it happens all the time :)
  2. would it be wrong of me to install a jukebox in the quiet room?
  3. to be honest, all those vowels are a right pain too. If it's good enough for hebrew... gssththrptnsfrllpncttntbrmvdndllwthppltntbfrfllfscstcntrlhwvrthsmyldtsmsmlllmntfcnfsnspcllytfrstwthhgchnksftxtbcmngprtcllynrdblmghtbwrthnxprmntthgh
  4. Had it been me I'd have been more tempted by the slightly more concise [pre] return test; [/pre]
  5. ...finding truly bad code [pre] return (test == true)? ( (test == false)? false : true) : ((test == false) ? false : true); [/pre] staggering!!
  6. Really? It's fine for me. Anyway, think the Matrix.
  7. Ticks Brendan's "women with guns" box too.
  8. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot for Harry, but I'd have to have a hard heart not be looking out for Barnsley after everything they've achieved.
  9. Trinity. The PVC clad Canadian, not the forum poster. No offence Trinity.
  10. This year's been a refreshing change though. Good luck to all those remaining.
  11. I was on a stag weekend canoeing down the Wye. After the game got back into our two man canoe for the final leg (about 4 miles), the heavens opened, then I rather drunkenly decided that standing up for a wee was wise, capsized said boat and spent 15 minutes in pouring rain with very irate boat mate dragging canoe onto bank and emptying it. Not a high point I must say. But yeah, easily best FA Cup Final in a very long time. Thank god for the Play-offs I say.
  12. I'm still upset about the 2006 final. Still, we can have another pop in another 26 years I guess.
  13. well, minus the Sarah Chronicles.
  14. "Not to say atheists aren't moral" Judging by Tony's latest words he disagrees with you. Without faith the world will go to pot apparently (laugh or cry?). For a man inspired by his faith to go to war more than any other British leader in living memory, that's quite a statement.
  15. The words delusion and hubris and of course irony for some reason have just popped into my head. The Tony Blair Faith Foundation. Not quite as frightening as Middle East Peace Envoy, but still. If I had right royally screwed up quite as much as he had I'd be looking forward to keeping my head down while my wife earnt a fortune boring people to tears on the lecture circuit...but no such luck.
  16. not ever or anything, but I shan't be an (extremely) idle work poster for quite some time.
  17. Beckham? Yeah, I heard those rumours too Kel.
  18. Zimbabwe shmabwe, the real news today is...CSI:Ambleside
  19. Still.....sozzled....from....leaving do..... last day at work....last day at forum :(
  20. Yay, Moos officially the fastest ever transition from stage 1 to stage 4 forumitis.....she even defined the damned disease!! See you there.
  21. The only thing I know about horse racing is never bet on the one in Dulwich Hamlet colours. In my experience they normally come last.
  22. Yeah he paid lip service to the CofE for years and converted jolly quickly on leaving power revealing the worst kept secret in politics. How can he do catholicism, isn't all to do with saying sorry? Not something he'd know too much about.
  23. My mate played footie on a beach in Dubai with Rod (telly producer at GMTV at the time). Said he was an absolutely top bloke, really down to earth. Strangely enough Julio Iglesias (July Churches, great name) was my neighbour in Majadahonda between 1973 and 1978...can I name drop any more?!!?! Conan Doyle was a goalie too wasn't he?
  24. The last pope was a bit of a footballer too wasn't he. Anyone else?
