  1. I'm pretty sure we felt pretty ropey both years for the usual reasons. I'll give you a vodka red bull to kick start your day!! 10.23 it is then Brendan.
  2. The .. exodus .... beginneth ..... How's about those who are coming agreeing to meet at Denmark Hill for either the 10:23 or 10:53 train?
  3. Not to mention the Cacti.
  4. Big teams in poaching players by 'reported interest' leaks shock. So Ashton to go to Man U for a laughably insulting 'offer' of ?8 million? I really hope not. I gather free-spending Pompey are also interested. The guy is class and apparently the club haven't even bothered to discuss this with him yet. No wonder we can't hang on to players :(
  5. Here are some nice images we got when meeting there early one crisp spring morning http://www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=nunhead&m=pool&w=64189439%40N00
  6. Most of our natives get bought up on the continent where they're something of a delicacy. We seem content to eat Rock oysters here, but they're cheaper (supply and demand) and have a bit more meat. I do love a good native though (ooeer missus). I like to get them in from Nunhead, Moxons or even better go to the coast and have at them with my shucker, but will sorely miss the Oystercatcher.

  8. Eh? I didn't think the Market Porter had tellies. The one next door does though (wheatsheaf?) so you can drink nice beer in the Porter and then go next door for the match. Perhaps via the spectacularly expensive (but incredibly nice) sausage sandwiches in between.
  9. It's a habit of mine. In all fairness I don't even know my username on there anymore!!
  10. I have to say, I was reading the Observer last night, and after the interview with the unrepentant father in Basra who killed his own daughter for basically talking to a British soldier, then reading the above story, I got a very heavy heart and decided I had to go to bed. Deeply depressing stories.
  11. Watched Persepolis at the Ritzy on Saturday morning (only one other person in the cinema!!). Will wholeheartedly recommend it, fantastic stuff. Often funny, sometimes wrenching, but always sharp, witty and honest.
  12. Good, honest and emotional writing from someone at the Iraqi coalface.
  13. Perfectly reasonable Ted 'please tell me your middle name starts with a K' Max. I would say that there's a blanket love of Dulwichmum the EDF person, a curious and wildly varying mix of DM's persona and her author's, rather than her writing per se, of which most people probably have their own take, much as you do. I'm a pretty big fan of the author too, as she is lovely, but I'm sworn to secrecy on that count, on pain of being taken to the Kings Rd and forced to shop for hours on end...AAAAAGGH, death by Prada!!!
  14. "In what year was 1984?" Should that read "..written?" otherwise the answer is probably 1984. Mind yuo, this is from the quiz that insisted the Israelites ate a poisoned apple on the trek to the promised land.
  15. Or your fella can change at tulse hill from east dulwich, its not a long wait. Herne hill is about a 15-20 minute walk (well, 45 minutes if you're in the upper east side) but the number 37 bus is better these days than it used to be.
  16. Great Stuff. I'm particularly loving the irony of Glyn Overbury and his assertion that you'd sneer on East Dulwich. He's a regular commenter, so it's not even an ironic (organic) plant from the EDF!!
  17. "They'd need to introduce Urinals and an open air smoking section though!" Open top routemasters and pissing out the side...job done
  18. Sorry Ted, just having a laff like. I quite liked my manure/liverpudenda mock. I suppose Liverpooh would have been a closer match though.
  19. fuck off Keef you cunt, just cos liverpool haven't won anything since last fucking century *coughs politely into hand* why don't you fuck off back to millwall or wherever it is you come from, typical Liverpool, always full of liverpudenda MWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH ...or not.
  20. It's a nice noise to make, ultimately pretty unenforceable, but then everyone thought that Ireland would ignore the smoking ban, but it went very well, as by and large it has here. It is about engendering a change of culture and attitude, whether it works remains to be seen, but have a go, learn your lessons, adjust tactics accordingly. Plus I don't think any of this is enshrined in law is it, just 'the management won't tolerate' so hardly a nanny state. I personally can't see it making any difference on the night buses, and I've rarely seen anyone drinking during the day, so *meh* basically...but...you know....
  21. I haven't, will keep an eye out. On the subject of did you see... has anyone caught The Inbetweeners on E4? Subtle it ain't but I've done some belly laughing to it.
  22. Neither does Bob Crowe who's clearly going to be as "can do" towards Boris as he was to Ken.
  23. Denmark Hill (Take the [southern ] London Bridge to London Victoria via Denmark Hill train) zone: 2 Clapham High Street Wandsworth Road Battersea Park (Take the [southern ] London Victoria to West Croydon via Crystal Palace train) zone: 2 Clapham Junction Wandsworth Common zone: 3 Total time 16 minutes
  24. Once again the daily mash draws a line too fine to tell between fact and satire http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/capello-picks-gerrard-to-miss-crucial-world-cup-penalty-20080508933/ [Capello] added: "I know these players have the right mixture of high salaries and grinding mediocrity to create a very real sense of false hope."
