I'm with Jeremy. Isn't it the cultural imports that lend colour to London, that give us our Brazilian bars and jerk chicken festivals, asian restaurants of various ilks, chinese new year celebrations, selfridges salt beef counter etc etc etc? I know we have a long history of discussing exclusion on this forum, women only swimming and gay bars being two of the classic forum bugbears, but I can't see any harm in some expats gathering together to reaffirm their culture. I'm sure they'll do this whilst embracing the culture that london has to offer too. Jeremy's also right that it's the Brits in Spain, Greece etc who are among the worst offenders. I met the aunt and uncle of friends of ours the other day who had moved to Spain 6 years ago, bleated on about how much they love the place and the quality of life they have, and when I tried to engage them in conversation in Spanish they apologised and said they didn't speak a word. Jaw...floor...

There is something called Tapatalk which looks vaguely interesting. I don't know if admin has the time or inclination to investigate it, but it seems pretty useful as a generic forum app which can integrate with forums. Anything that makes smartphone fourm interaction less painful would be most welcome. http://www.tapatalk.com/mobile.php

Cellar, in a post 1960 build, are you mad?!?! No they're in the loft. Don't worry though I'm sure they're all having plenty of fun on their unfettered paths to total excess!

I've given a few things away and women have generally come with hubby in tow, except one who was a known forumite, which was a pity as it was the heaviest telly in the world and a hubby would have been jolly useful (not that she wasn't fine with lugging the telly, I was just hoping to get away with not doing it)

I guess cock and muff, and indeed toss have legitimate meanings, whereas twat doesn't. Mind you shit isn't especially homonymous is it, unless you count verb and noun.
-
cock!?!? That's got to be ruder than twat
-
eh? how come twat is ruder than shit?
-
shit
-
twat

lets make the rules that only rude words are allowed, I'll start: cunt

I guess the buyer is probably wondering whether you're legitimate or fencing stolen goods and you're being understandably cautious given your situation. Meet in the middle, just throw them a bone so they'll feel like there'll be someone to find if things turn out dodgy. A phone number or work email address might assuage their fears enough to do the transaction in a public place.

Absolutely, it should go without saying that being doctrinaire is usually a good way to go about fckuing up. Being analytical and pragmatic is usually the best way forward. This applies to privatisation v nationalisation. In the case of the rail networks it has been all thought out, badly implemented and continues to be poorly managed with the taxpayer underwriting far too much whilst chronic capital underinvestment continues and maintenance has dropped by a third giving rise to such incidents as Potters Bar. Where services are of national interest then sometimes we have to look beyond competitiveness for the greater good. The same surely applies to unionism, which on the whole I think is a good thing, where representation can curb the baser instincts of let's say laissez faire urges of capitalism. I'm sure Mr Crowe has the best interests of his union members at heart but he sure as hell doesnt give a shit about the greater good, regularly holding london business sectors, employees and inhabitants to ransome, not to mention staining its reputation amongst those who grace us with their spare time and tourist dollar. I do believe he does it in a politically dogmatic fashion. btw the moment I read 'FACT' alarms bells start ringing, particularly from someone who can juxtapose these with apparently no hint of irony: "most of these comments there basically mostly waffle and nonsense" "Most people who are anti union are a certain type of individual, generally selfish and of an immaturity that screams me me me."

sugar lumps for your high horses chaps? ;-P

Anyway I have half man half biscuit on Friday, that'll do me.

I've just looked at the line up and there are frankly dozens of acts I'd like to see. Wild horses however couldn't drag me into a field full of a hundred and fifty bloody thousand people. I can barely cope with lordship lane of a Saturday afternoon. http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up-poster/ its not just coldplay you know.

A very quick swizz and there's a rather telling comment in the intro/summary 'The FIndings of the Book', and I quote But I've emailed the pdf home for perusal, link to be found here http://doc.politiquessociales.net/serv1/worldunions.pdf

I have felt a degree of unease about this that I've been struggling to pinpoint as I've mused the last couple of days, but I had the impression that too many issues were being conflated and the mere whiff of 'rape' tends to stifle debate because it's both taboo and massively emotive. But I was leaning towards the idea that this has less to do with rape and much more to do with social mores and changing perceptions and found the 'dress how i want' -> 'rape' journey somewhat non-sequitur (though thematically I can obviously see the connection). Huguenot's quote rather sums it up nicely i think "The organisers seem to struggle to tell the difference between rape, female oppression, social conditioning, social norms, common sense, natural inclination and everyday anxieties suffered by everyone regardless of gender"

Religious folk knocking the door every weekend
mockney piers replied to brummie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
ha ha, that thought struck me too. I'm actually rather fond of the old ladies who knock on our door once every two or three months. I usually have a nice chat with them, discuss a bit of theology with them but leave them under no illusions as to the chances of my turning up to their church. On a slightly pedantic point about evangelical churches, isn't that a tautology? I was under the impression that Christianity was an intrinsically evangelical religion even though the vast majority don't necessarily badger others into having their souls saved. -
Famous People in Sainsburys

David Glenister "Correspondence Officer at Camden Council"? It's great that the so called unsung heroes of society are finally getting recognition, in this case quite literally I guess. -
Another chugging on Lordship Lane
mockney piers replied to *Bob*'s topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It all starts so innocently, dabbling in brightly coloured tabards, but it can escalate so quickly, first a couple more polka dots, to look a bit zany and pretty soon they've progressed to red noses, twirly bow ties and oversized shoes. It's always such a tragic but oh so predictable downward spiral. -
I don't think crowds will be hostile, they'll take the piss mercilessly but there will be no hostility towards him. The super-injunction was a massive own goal for him. If he'd held off I reckon the press would have sat on the story the same way they did a number of stories about Gary Linekar. He'd just about worked his way into national treasure status then went and slapped a gagging order on the press, something they don't take kindly to. Whoops. In fairness to him it was probably on advice from a lawyer seeing pound signs a-flashing.
