But then so are our usual suspects John and Mike. I for one will will shiver with the fear for a bit. hopefully come up smiling tomorrow though.
  2. As ever, thanks Andrew. Nice lens you've got there ;) *bob* too much suspense, elaborate!!
  3. I'm up and about, but in an almost figurative sense. Feeling a bit pooky if needs be told.
  4. *yawns, removes sawdust from mouth* *opens window to tropical beach and starts sipping on a pi?acolada while listening to the soft lapping of the waves on the nearby shore* *starts dancing a soft shoe shuffle for the helluvit*
  5. I thought his Iain Banks books have gone whishy washier as time's gone on and his Iain M Banks have gone from strength to strength. An indication where his heart lies I guess.
  6. On a london theme: If you enjoy the literary equivalent of having your fingernails pulled out then I'd recommend Iain Sinclair's London Orbital. Will Self's How The Dead Live was terrific. Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver is a lot of fun and set in 17th century london for great swathes. Groundwater Diaries is an oddball psychogeography book. WG Sebald on carlsberg Special Brew. I can bring any of these tonight if you drop in and you like the sound of any of them (really, don't bother with London Orbital)
  7. No way!! Love them and their daft beardy ways. What's their new album like? I've been umming and ahhing every time I pass it by.
  8. Smog (this time as Bil Callahan) has released a new one today. Not as sparse and windswept as A River Ain't Too Much, but good stuff nevertheless. Here's a bit of smog in action live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAjUxpcB0pw Also got Coco Rosies's new one, but not had a chance to listen to it yet. Blinder, did you get the new Bright Eyes yet? What's it like, he cheered up yet ;)
  9. Uprights, Grand Pianos, moogs, harpsichords, casio organs that sort of thing?
  10. Well if we're doing ladies of my youth.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A413u6coyuI
  11. Good choice Bagpuss. A friend of mine's quite pally with lindy layton, i had quite a crush on her in my youth. Haven't managed to get an invite to a bbq when she's there too yet though :( She's a right stunner too these days!
  12. Ooh thanks. I thought you might thinkn I'd gone all caesar complex* on you all. *that's not a pret-a-manger anti-wrinkle cream by the way.
  13. *lounged* sorry :-$
  14. That's the one, on the corner. Looks like a bric-a-brac store if you surreptitiously glance through the fugged windows into the gloom beyond.
  15. yes, I was reading about the disappearing trees of london and indeed there have been a few around our way too. I like Melbourne Grove and it's offshoots (no pun intended, but it _is_ still quite leafy). There are some weird and wonderful houses round there. Especially the house that taste forgot. May have to get some snaps of it this weekend.
  16. Go on, pop in for a half guinness, rabbit costume or no.
  17. Actually they've been pretty chilled, very enjoyable. Normal fridays down the pub type things really. It's really not been cliquey by any stretch, most people have met just once or twice now, but people just drop in to say hi or stop for a few, including many lurkers and occasional posters, you know who you are and hope to see you tonight. The more the merrier :)
  18. *ahem - good streets to live in? *
  19. And you claim you've never been to one before?!?!
  20. Agreed, it's never really been a wine drinkers' pub. A while back the old manager Trish tried to go for a decent selection thing, but it just didn't sell. It's all pretty inoffensive though, maybe you just got a corked bottle or something.
  21. They used to have a lovely Spanish girl working there, a Valenciana if memory serves me, and she was always a ray of sunshine, but has returned to La Patria I believe. I do sometimes find it a bit intimidating in there I have to say, but the produce is good especially if you can't be arsed to go to Borough Market. But don't expect any change from .. well, don't expect any change.
  22. I absolutely love this song, and the girl does sound a leeetle like our dear departed Kirsty McColl Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead
  23. Indeed it has, but no matter how hard I scrub I just can't remove the lounging button from my hands. Out damned spot!!
  24. ** Bwaah haah haah, drunk on power he lounges - Temporary administrator**
  25. Oh dear, i've just spent half the evening golfing on the wii. I will of course be normal tomorrow.
