  1. Not cheap for what exactly? I find them cheaper than Superdrug and Co op for the bits I get. I think you'll find if you look for them. Packs of Beetroot, Brown sauce and other food items are much cheaper than other high Street names. You said that you want it closed down so why would you go in there in the first place? I find certain shops and a particular eaterie on the lane to be way to expensive so I steer clear. I don't want them closed down though.
  2. Get them every evening riding the pavement along the rye coming from East Dulwich Road end. Its a poorly lit stretch and it can be hazardous when alighting the bus at the Gardens stop. No lights or reflective/ bright clothing. But hey they can see me so that's fine. Plus cars are evil, heavier and hurt people unlike bikes when they hit you.
  3. They seem to think that it's residents are green. As in naive that is given the amount of dishonesty and cobblers that they come out with. Its like buzzword bingo. Sustainable, organic, green, stake holders, local jobs blah blah blah. Absolute cobblers and box ticking.
  4. You can get small wing mirrors which are easy to attach. I used to use them and found that they were a real help. They enable you to remain focused on the road and obstacles ahead of you without the interruption of having to look over your shoulder. They're not expensive, flash or gimmicky. In fact I think all bikes should be equipped with them. I'd certainly suggest them for cyclists who can get a bit nervy on busy roads. They're essentially another set of eyes.
  5. There is no debate to be had with you because you just roll out stats and evade pertinent points. The irony of you bemoaning the lack of debate isn't lost on me.
  6. Way to avoid the issue and churn out the same old cobblers. No I don't think cyclists don't know what a red light is. Again not my point. Why do you think many cyclists willfully ignore red lights? I never mentioned speeding cars. I'll suggest what I know to be true. If one is breaking the highway code then they're unaware. None of the above has anything to do with knowing the highway code. Your repetitive posts stink of either stupidity or trolling. Debate the points raised rather than fart out the same old cobblers.
  7. It's just as welll that I didn't say that drivers are safer than cyclists because they've had there test. I never mentioned driving or cycling standards. My point was about the highway code and being able to know what signs and symbols represent. It's quite clear to me that not everybody understands what a red traffic light represents, or a no right turn sign, or one way street. If you're jumping red lights and entering one way streets when you're not supposed to it suggests to me that there's little or zero concern for anyone's safety. Also. I'm fairly confident that everybody is aware that a moving car will do more damage than a bicycle when there’s impact. You're reading to much into my post. Literally ignoring what I typed about ( highway code) whilst stating the bleeding obvious. I'm also fully aware that many cyclists are indeed motorists. Not my point. There are many many cyclists that don't yet drive and don't know the highway code. That in my opinion isn't ideal for anyone. Certainly not for the cyclist as you keep pointing out. I mean why would you dart through red lights when there's big lumps of moving metal with the right of way? Why would you cycle in the wrong direction down a one way street? The highway code exists for the people that use the highways. 5hwt should apply to all users. I know the cycling and motorist issue is divisive just as Brexit is. People on either side of the debate are entrenched just as you are. Your response to my post is standard for this debate. Ignore the point made and just roll out stats that can be found on almost every page of this debate. Do you really need to inform Pele that a car does more da,age than something that you can lift with two fingers. It's hardly breaking news is it! It's also completely irrelevant and sidestepping the issue. It's almost condescending. Car heavier than bike shocker.
  8. Not sure licencing could be ever enforced. What I do think should be a requisite for all road users is knowing the highway code. The fact that one can jump,on a bike and take to the road with zero understanding of signage, symbols, etc is a danger in itself. I say this as a non car driver and former cyclist who stopped cycling in London because I found it dangerous. In my experience I encountered countless arseholes on the roads, both on two wheels and four. I'd still trust a motorist over a cyclist simply because a motorist is required to know the rules of the road. I'm a regular bus user and favour the top deck up front. You see some awful behaviour and risk taking by cyclists. It doesn't surprise me that there's so many accidents and scrapes involving cyclists. No doubt the sheer volume of bikes makes that more .likely but so does lack of awareness and risk taking.
  9. You think a thief will want to be able to be traced? Also a fair chance that the bike they're using to rob people is stolen.
  10. It serves its purpose and saves you a few quid here and there. Never had a bad experience or poor service when shopping there. Why?
  11. Dog found. Edited add that he was found on Barry Road by a very decent and kind local lady. She took him to the vets where they checked his chip and then contacted us by email which we only checked hours after losing the dog. He'd been fed and left to sleep in front of warm fire until we went to pick him up. My wife feared the worst but I was more confident of him being found and returned because there's a lot of decent people in our community.
  12. Brindle staffie. Lost an hour ago whilst on Peckham rye. Please call 07835 855 061 if you see him or find him. Many thanks
  13. I use it on a weekly basis for a couple of reasons. It's generally always busy and well staffed. It's certainly more than just a drop off point for parcels and packages. I will use other shops on the lane whilst I'm down there. I'd imagine the PO being there brings a fair bit of footfall to the area. As opposed to having to wait for customer in front of me to get there phone out, type in four digits to unlock the phones screen, then piss about scrolling to find the correct app before they eventually put the phone on the reader. Same in many Instances with cards. If you have such an issue with people using that dirty evil cash then surely the self service / card only tills are your friend!!
  14. The Golden Anchor near Nunhead Station is good for holding an event. Has a spacious dedicated room for a dance and DJ. It has a late licence and drink prices are very reasonable. You can book the space and use your own DJ. I am available for DJ bookings depending on the type/ genre's of music you want played. PM me if you need any help or advice. All the best!!! https://goldenanchor.co.uk/ Golden Anchor 16 Evelina Road, London, SE15 2DX, United Kingdom Telephone: 07950 155812 Email: [email protected]
  15. Perhaps you should stop reading the papers and watching the news. You make it sound like a war zone.
  16. It's also possible to live in the modern world without a little pocket computer.
  17. Likewise. When in doubt back the draw!!
  18. Toss of a coin for all but two of those fixtures. Very tough!
  19. I did see a few Victoria bound 185's on East Dulwich road around 5pm this evening. Coming from the Rye end and heading toward Goose green
  20. This article is from October 2021 and painted a more positive light. What can be done to make cycling more diverse? https://bikebiz.com/new-tfl-data-shows-that-people-cycling-in-london-are-more-diverse-than-ever/
  21. After a series of complaints sent to Ellie Reeves about the extremely poor service/lack of deliveries to The Gardens/ Kelmore Grove round we have started to get deliveries again. One delivery came last Sunday and so did a lot of mail ( we got 22 letters ). Many of my letters were dated as far back as early 4th, 6th and 7th of October. Others were from the second week of October. Thankfully, it seems that we now have a new postman ( as promised by Peckham sorting office ) when they replied to Ellie Reeve's initial email in support of the unhappy residents at Kelmore and The Gardens. Have to say that Ellie Reeves and her office were very helpful and kept us informed/ updated on the situation and with regards to what the post office had to say about their terrible service.
  22. I have a contract from Three and the coverage where i am just next to Peckham Rye/ East Dulwich road is terrible when indoors. It's fine when out and about locally. My partner has Tesco mobile which i think uses vodaphones network and it's perfect. I do think it can almost vary from street to street. I say that because my neighbour has Lebara and he gets perfect service. This may help. All the best! https://www.signalchecker.co.uk/
  23. ^^^^^^^^^That is why. Oooh, very creative and original. No meat, No cars. dairy and three items of clothing per year isn't informative. It's cobblers, hyperbole and stinks of conspiracy theorists usual OTT sensationalism. Irony isn't your strong point is it!! If you can prove to me that there'll be no meat, cars. dairy and only three clothing items allowed per year i might consider you not to be a complete and utter moon unit that's down a very very dark rabbit hole. If not i'll have to accept that you're running with the blind sheeple who haven't done ' their research '. Now some proof please. Cheers. Correct spelling is ' Photosynthesis ' Wrong geezer. I think you'll find it was Voltaire that said it. Indeed!!!!
  24. That tweet is absolute bonkers. No cars, meat, dairy and 3 items of clothing per year? So the end of at least two industries plus billions in lost revenues for the exchequer! Where's the jobs and shortfall coming from?
