Not sure licencing could be ever enforced. What I do think should be a requisite for all road users is knowing the highway code. The fact that one can jump,on a bike and take to the road with zero understanding of signage, symbols, etc is a danger in itself. I say this as a non car driver and former cyclist who stopped cycling in London because I found it dangerous. In my experience I encountered countless arseholes on the roads, both on two wheels and four. I'd still trust a motorist over a cyclist simply because a motorist is required to know the rules of the road. I'm a regular bus user and favour the top deck up front. You see some awful behaviour and risk taking by cyclists. It doesn't surprise me that there's so many accidents and scrapes involving cyclists. No doubt the sheer volume of bikes makes that more .likely but so does lack of awareness and risk taking.

More a flog than blog π -
It serves its purpose and saves you a few quid here and there. Never had a bad experience or poor service when shopping there. Why?

Dog found. Edited add that he was found on Barry Road by a very decent and kind local lady. She took him to the vets where they checked his chip and then contacted us by email which we only checked hours after losing the dog. He'd been fed and left to sleep in front of warm fire until we went to pick him up. My wife feared the worst but I was more confident of him being found and returned because there's a lot of decent people in our community.

Lordship Lane Post Office Closure
Dulwich dweller replied to Lyra123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I use it on a weekly basis for a couple of reasons. It's generally always busy and well staffed. It's certainly more than just a drop off point for parcels and packages. I will use other shops on the lane whilst I'm down there. I'd imagine the PO being there brings a fair bit of footfall to the area. As opposed to having to wait for customer in front of me to get there phone out, type in four digits to unlock the phones screen, then piss about scrolling to find the correct app before they eventually put the phone on the reader. Same in many Instances with cards. If you have such an issue with people using that dirty evil cash then surely the self service / card only tills are your friend!! -
The Golden Anchor near Nunhead Station is good for holding an event. Has a spacious dedicated room for a dance and DJ. It has a late licence and drink prices are very reasonable. You can book the space and use your own DJ. I am available for DJ bookings depending on the type/ genre's of music you want played. PM me if you need any help or advice. All the best!!! https://goldenanchor.co.uk/ Golden Anchor 16 Evelina Road, London, SE15 2DX, United Kingdom Telephone: 07950 155812 Email: [email protected]

I did see a few Victoria bound 185's on East Dulwich road around 5pm this evening. Coming from the Rye end and heading toward Goose green -
This article is from October 2021 and painted a more positive light. What can be done to make cycling more diverse? https://bikebiz.com/new-tfl-data-shows-that-people-cycling-in-london-are-more-diverse-than-ever/

After a series of complaints sent to Ellie Reeves about the extremely poor service/lack of deliveries to The Gardens/ Kelmore Grove round we have started to get deliveries again. One delivery came last Sunday and so did a lot of mail ( we got 22 letters ). Many of my letters were dated as far back as early 4th, 6th and 7th of October. Others were from the second week of October. Thankfully, it seems that we now have a new postman ( as promised by Peckham sorting office ) when they replied to Ellie Reeve's initial email in support of the unhappy residents at Kelmore and The Gardens. Have to say that Ellie Reeves and her office were very helpful and kept us informed/ updated on the situation and with regards to what the post office had to say about their terrible service.

I have a contract from Three and the coverage where i am just next to Peckham Rye/ East Dulwich road is terrible when indoors. It's fine when out and about locally. My partner has Tesco mobile which i think uses vodaphones network and it's perfect. I do think it can almost vary from street to street. I say that because my neighbour has Lebara and he gets perfect service. This may help. All the best! https://www.signalchecker.co.uk/

ULEZ expansion ruled lawful by High Court
Dulwich dweller replied to megalaki84's topic in Roads & Transport
^^^^^^^^^That is why. Oooh, very creative and original. No meat, No cars. dairy and three items of clothing per year isn't informative. It's cobblers, hyperbole and stinks of conspiracy theorists usual OTT sensationalism. Irony isn't your strong point is it!! If you can prove to me that there'll be no meat, cars. dairy and only three clothing items allowed per year i might consider you not to be a complete and utter moon unit that's down a very very dark rabbit hole. If not i'll have to accept that you're running with the blind sheeple who haven't done ' their research '. Now some proof please. Cheers. Correct spelling is ' Photosynthesis ' Wrong geezer. I think you'll find it was Voltaire that said it. Indeed!!!! -

That tweet is absolute bonkers. No cars, meat, dairy and 3 items of clothing per year? So the end of at least two industries plus billions in lost revenues for the exchequer! Where's the jobs and shortfall coming from? -
Housing Associations selling off properties
Dulwich dweller replied to Puppa smurf's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I presumed that HA's only manage the properties for the council who own them. It's certainly the case with some properties. They've gone way beyond their original purpose as a social landlord. L&Q for example manage that huge new build that replaced the Heygate. There's very little social or affordable housing on that plot now. The gentrification and social cleansing of London is in full swing and aided and abetted by HA's that once existed to provide housing for low income families and workers. It stinks and at the same time the likes of the new Heygate was being touted as a great opportunity to profiteer and was partly sold off plan to overseas investors and BTLL. The corruption that went on over that land was outrageous and blatant. -
Not sure what good can come of it if she's already been to the sorting office and nothing has changed/ improved. I emailed both her and the royal mail over a week ago and have had zero response from either yet. I've had no post for about two weeks now. I know for a fact that at least two letters were sent out to me 10 days ago, I think we're having the Michael taken out of us and so is Reeves by the looks of things.

It seems that the local MP made a visit to the Peckham and East Dulwich Delivery Office in early October. Nothing has changed for the better where we are. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/ellie-reeves-latest-mp-to-wade-into-east-dulwich-postal-fiasco-but-locals-fear-she-will-just-be-fobbed-off/

I actually got into an argument with out postman yesterday after having the cheek to ask him did he have any post for me. The argument culminated in me being told that he'll never have to deliver to my address again. I pointed out that it's been the case for some time now anyway π Thanks for your suggestions!!

I have been waiting for a particular letter for five working days now. Annoyingly it's my new pin number for my bank card but still no sign of it. Im just by the Gardens and have only seen the postman once this week. I spoke to him to find out why we see very little of them, get no deliveries for a week then all of a sudden a pile of letters drop through the letterbox on a Sunday afternoon. Some of that post is weeks old going by the dates on the letters. The postman informed me that this particular round- Gardens, kelmore, Oakhurst etc is really messed up mate and we're really only doing parcels now and don't really do letters. That pissed me off a bit so i asked him do the PO no longer deem letters as important or indeed worthy of posting anymore? I'm again informed that it's a mess mate and that he'd have a look in the sorting office and drop my post in if he finds anything. I have zero hope or faith in getting my delivery unless i contact my bank and ask them to resend my A4 sheet of paper but this time in a huge bloody box. Their attitude suggested that they don't give a flying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and that i'm some sort of lunatic for expecting a postman to be delivering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,letters. I reckon he'd have been less offended if i'd asked him to lend me Β£300.
