  1. I'd imagine it to be pretty common for pubs have a no kids policy in the evening. It might be a pain for you but at the same time not good for business or favourable with punters. I think a ' hate families hour ' sign should be clearly visible too as it saves you the ignominy of it all.
  2. I presumed that HA's only manage the properties for the council who own them. It's certainly the case with some properties. They've gone way beyond their original purpose as a social landlord. L&Q for example manage that huge new build that replaced the Heygate. There's very little social or affordable housing on that plot now. The gentrification and social cleansing of London is in full swing and aided and abetted by HA's that once existed to provide housing for low income families and workers. It stinks and at the same time the likes of the new Heygate was being touted as a great opportunity to profiteer and was partly sold off plan to overseas investors and BTLL. The corruption that went on over that land was outrageous and blatant.
  3. Not sure what good can come of it if she's already been to the sorting office and nothing has changed/ improved. I emailed both her and the royal mail over a week ago and have had zero response from either yet. I've had no post for about two weeks now. I know for a fact that at least two letters were sent out to me 10 days ago, I think we're having the Michael taken out of us and so is Reeves by the looks of things.
  4. It seems that the local MP made a visit to the Peckham and East Dulwich Delivery Office in early October. Nothing has changed for the better where we are. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/ellie-reeves-latest-mp-to-wade-into-east-dulwich-postal-fiasco-but-locals-fear-she-will-just-be-fobbed-off/
  5. Not that i'm aware of 😁It was a joke based on the fact out postman now only delivers parcels.
  6. I actually got into an argument with out postman yesterday after having the cheek to ask him did he have any post for me. The argument culminated in me being told that he'll never have to deliver to my address again. I pointed out that it's been the case for some time now anyway 😁 Thanks for your suggestions!!
  7. I have been waiting for a particular letter for five working days now. Annoyingly it's my new pin number for my bank card but still no sign of it. Im just by the Gardens and have only seen the postman once this week. I spoke to him to find out why we see very little of them, get no deliveries for a week then all of a sudden a pile of letters drop through the letterbox on a Sunday afternoon. Some of that post is weeks old going by the dates on the letters. The postman informed me that this particular round- Gardens, kelmore, Oakhurst etc is really messed up mate and we're really only doing parcels now and don't really do letters. That pissed me off a bit so i asked him do the PO no longer deem letters as important or indeed worthy of posting anymore? I'm again informed that it's a mess mate and that he'd have a look in the sorting office and drop my post in if he finds anything. I have zero hope or faith in getting my delivery unless i contact my bank and ask them to resend my A4 sheet of paper but this time in a huge bloody box. Their attitude suggested that they don't give a flying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and that i'm some sort of lunatic for expecting a postman to be delivering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,letters. I reckon he'd have been less offended if i'd asked him to lend me £300.
  8. A good week all round for me. I had my first football bet in months and that came up trumps too. I've peaked far to early 😁
  9. As reckless as it is i do find the sight of a cyclist texting whilst in motion quite impressive. I never mastered doing no hands but could pull a mean wheelie for a good ten seconds. The stretch from East Dulwich road to Barry road is bad for that. Both on the pavement and road. It's very dark there by the Gardens bus stop so you can't see them until they're very close. I don't understand why one would take such a risk and leave themselves vulnerable by not being visible to both pedestrian and fellow road users.
  10. Woof woof woof 😁 The sign is low enough for dogs to read it too!
  11. We got a delivery today in the Gardens. It's only the second bit of post we've seen in five working days. My postman told me the the local MP had visited their office this week to find out what was going on. Hopefully the visit will give them a kick up the backside if they're were being slack.
  12. I snoozed facebook and twitter. Two birds one stone 😎
  13. I was thinking more Facebook, Twitter rather than a local community forum.
  14. True. Haven't been back in there since the last owners left. Too pricey now for a fry up and a fizzy drink is £3.50 but they'll get enough custom to keep them going,
  15. Small parts of it are okay but on the whole i think it's a cesspit and platform for absolute nobodies that you'd avoid at all costs in real life.
  16. Bro- Hey bro. Really grinds my gears. Legend- Ledge. I took in a small parcel for neighbour only for the postman to inform me that i was a ' ledge bro ' Stop ir, stop it now 😁
  17. Refurb/ refit. It's supposed to reopen 15th October.
  18. Can't agree with that one. I think i might have whooshed myself 😀
  19. Always think of the Grove cafe and Maria and her husband Dimitri when i see pics of that stretch. Sadly missed and probably the last greasy spoon to grace that bit. Another faller from the affects of road closures and CPZ's.
  20. Hopefully and as soon as possible 😁I love the nostalgia chats but i always end up wracking my brain for names and dates.
  21. The railway tavern? I think it was originally named The old Cherry tree hotel.
  22. Good lord above. Awful stuff. When poundland opened up 😁 Brioche buns and Latte cups bouncing off of their windows and whizzing up and down Lordship lane. At one point the CO OP was relieved of two bottles of Prosecco by an absolute bounder armed with a sourdough baton.
  23. I used to DJ Dogstar well as the 414 and Mass. Brixton was always a place for both locals and revellers from all corners of London. Or wobble out of Samsara at the fridge and wobble over to the 414/ Cooltan for another bounce about.
  24. Gentrification affects people in different ways and can be both positive and negative. Criticism works both ways too. Brixton for example- Newcomers move into certain parts where there's a thriving night time economy, a few bars and long standing clubs. Literally move in/ or buy to let at extortionate rates opposite a nightclub that was included in the the estate agents blurb. Vibrant-cool Peckham, Brixton etc. Two places that many of it's current residents wouldn't have drove through in an armoured truck not that long ago. They then complain about the noise coming from those bars and clubs. More often than not those venues end up having restrictions put on them which are prohibitive and ultimately the death knell for a long standing business that has done it's bit in attracting punters with disposable cash to the area.
