Diet Coke Jelly tots New clothes Mac make-up. I'm such a girl.

Woolwich def sounds like a winner. I'm very envious of you lot with little ones that actually swim (or try to) in the pool. Our 3 year old only seems to want to dive bomb and climb all over us, oh and do aeroplanes. She's not interested in actual swimming at all. How did you get your little ones interested? Or is it just our nutbag nelly who's treats the pool like a human pin ball machine?

Power couples - How do you make it work?
ryedalema replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ummm - well if you mean that both parents work full time and the girls go to nursery, then that's us. I head up a department and my OH does something fancy in a bank (boo hiss!) If you want to know who does most of the shuttle bussing then it's me, me, me! And if the girls go sick, then yessss - that'll be me then. I love my OH dearly, but he can only just manage to get himself dressed in the morning - so most of the childcare is firmly in my camp. I long for sleeeeepppp. -
Wow - so I can take our eight month old and three year old by myself to the Greenwich pool (page 19) if we stay in the shallow end and have arm bands etc. Not sure I have the nerve, but great to know.
-
OOh - the Woolwich one sounds fab - we'll def try that one out. Where is the Latchmere and how does it compare to the Woolwich one, anyone? Also - does anyone know how many adults you need for an eight month old and 2 x over 3 year olds? Is it 2 or 3 adults or does it depend on the pool? Sorry hijacking your thread KM.

Bromley pool has a slide (elephant) but it's in a really shallow bit so not great for 'launching yourself in the water'. Deptford Wavelengths pool has the same slide but it's in a decent level of water so they can 'jump in' from that (but really rubbish shower arrangements). Not sure about Greenwich one - haven't been yet but wouldn't mind a trip. I think all three are part of the same group - they all have the same equipment, including flumes for the bigger kids. Madam is very partial to a slide too - fancy a trip?

Surreptitiously hiding calpol in milk
ryedalema replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes we hid/hide Calpol in milk - I'm sure it's not recommended but we're very very careful with dosages. Also we bought a dummy thing with a medicine dispenser on the back. It's basically a normal dummy but you open up the back and pour the medicine in, then they suck it in through small holes in the 'teat'. A complete godsend - I think we bought it from Mothercare. Good luck xxx -
Sorry Amott Road and the poster was Tintin - just checked.

There's a new one supposed to be opening up on Ayres Road I think it is (bottom end of the Rye). The owner advertised on here for a nursery manager a while back (might be worth a key word search). I know she had some challenges with the planning department but think she's over the worst of that now. Maybe if she's reading this she could email or PM you too.

That was what I looked like..and worse! Thank goodness no one took any photos of me like that. Mind you I don't tend to wear a lot of green spandex in public..or in private...hmmmm Fashion Police??

Feedback requested on Mother Goose nurseries
ryedalema replied to reginak's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I know what you mean Alethea - I felt the same around the start of July. Don't forget they're splitting and extending the baby room though - enough for 9 more bubs apparently x -
Our eldest (3) is a Dora nutter. I have to come on here when it's on - I can't bear the inanity. Delicioso! Swiper no swiping! Makes it easy for birthday presents though :)

Pregnant woman smoking down Lordship lane!
ryedalema replied to Ligaturiosity's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Give it a rest - poor lady. If having one cigarette (no evidence of more presumably unless she had fags between each finger) calmed her down after a stressful day, surely that's understandable. A calm non-stressy ma can better cope with the rigours of everyday life with a huge bump to carry around. And yes I totally agree with the poster who said she might have cut down from 40 a day. Thing is we don't know her circumstances - so who are we to judge? Someone once publicly chastised me because my sleeping 18 month old was sucking a dummy - fierce she was and left me quaking. Doesn't anyone enduring pregnancy in this heat deserve to do so without public flogging? I'd have given her my bottled water or fan - not a tongue lashing. Chill the eff out. Don't you have your own stuff to worry about? -
Feedback requested on Mother Goose nurseries
ryedalema replied to reginak's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Our three year old and our 7 month old both go there - and absolutely love it. Today I saw their cook digging up fresh carrots from their veggie paatch for their lunch. Can't get more wholesome than that. -
Ah great idea Pickle and Belle - I'll walk/run in my lunch half hour...look out city types 'fat bottomed girl' coming through. Chantelle - fab idea in theory..in practice though it's E&C the stop before Denmark Hill - huuuuge run. The other side I'm cutting it really fine re work start times and nursery pick up times (no wiggle room here). But lunchtimes and random weekend time it is. I've just signed eldest munch up to little kickers too, so can jog down there. Does Wii fit really work? I'm a little dubious but will give it a go if others praise it. Oh for time and no dependents - I'm sure I used to have time at one point - why wasn't I doing this then? xxxxx

I got my 10% weight watchers thingy today - yee ha! I've lost 1.53 stone, with about 2 to go, well maybe 1.75 - so almost half way there and feeling soo much better. I'm finding it really tough to find exercise time now I'm back at work though. I get up before 6 for the morning routine which doesn't stop until I get to work (15 minutes quick walk to the station included) and in reverse I don't finish until 8pm (including anther 15 minute station>nursery dash) when the girls are in bed and I breathe a sigh of relief and flop onto the sofa. There's no chance of exercise after that. Anyone got any good ideas? I'd like to do a bit of walking in my lunch hour but I've lost half of it due to flexible working so that I can have a bit of leeway at 9 and 5 in case the nursery run doesn't go to plan. I guess I could still get in 30 mins of quick walking in the city (don't laugh). Weekends are a right off to with loads of kiddie related stuff. How do other people fit it all in??

Second labour - your experience
ryedalema replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Umm conversely: 5 hours from first twinge to labour with first - about 5 mins of actual pushing (3 or 4 pushes I think) 9 hours with second - but one jet propelled push at the end was all that was required (and a baseball mitt). I was expecting it to be really quick with second so mistook the signs and started pushing way too early - soon learned though. Good luck x -
Urg - work da*ned preventing me from posting - grrr. I'm a bit phobic about running - it brings back memories of me in Dunlop greens about half a mile behind the rest of the class in X country running, wet through and freezing cold. Shudders. I've been doing some swimming though - which is great as noone can see your flabby bits once you are in the water and nothing wobbles while you do it. (Bingo wings + star jumps = something air traffic control should watch out for) New mum - yes it was/is an ex-preggers thing (or at least I hope so, I'm 37), but it's been a while now and has no sign of abating - hmmmm Belle - thanks for asking. Different thread but work is *&^%. I'm hoping it gets better once my interim leaves but I'm sick of her and others saying what great work she's done. Eff off work peeps - can't you see how inconsiderate that is. Boo hoo. I wish we could afford for me not to work...that's a life I'd like (I think). Sorry for the tangent xxx

Blankets over the pram...new craze?
ryedalema replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in The Family Room Discussion
So much nappy rash on little c right now (combo of teething and heat I think) that I'd take her out starkers if I could risk it. Poor little mite. :'( -
Blankets over the pram...new craze?
ryedalema replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Tend to agree HH. I use a muslin and I saw someone the other day keeping theirs on with clothes pegs - genius! -
Wow - I'd love to do the BMF. Well - before I met my husband I was an 8-10. Got married at size 12 (three years later) first child - up to 14, second up to 16-18. Now - I'm doing Weightwatchers and have Beth my personal trainer (Hi Beth!) and I'm back to a 12 - yee ha! But, and it's a big butt (ho, ho) I've still got 2 stone to go before I'm even normal healthy weight on those graphs they attack you with at the doctors. Tankety tank tank. This is the first time in years that I've actually got into the mental dieting zone - sounds daft but I reckon that's half the battle. As soon as you get your head around a long haul weight loss thang you can get it off. I've only done 1.4 stones so far (well at least since I started braving the scales) - but am def going to go the distance this time! So sorry if I sound smug - totally don't mean to. This is a combination of having energy for the first time in years and a vodka or two, medicinally served up by OH of account of first day back at work ;-( PS - Davina! She's annoying as, but she does a good keep fit video! Oh - PPS I started WW while bfing - it's fine, you just get more points. I did it online and they calculate it all for you xxx

Post natal depression or just a stressful time?
ryedalema replied to Yorkie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Good luck - you sound strong, confident and self assured. You'll do it magnificently - I've no doubt xxx Maybe you could show him this thread? Usually works for me ;-)
