  1. I'M SO SICK OF THE F WORD What about if we give the actual word "Foxtons" honorary status as a profanity. Then we could impose a cursing ban on the Forum and actually charge people for using the "F WORD". A pound per F seems reasonable. Maybe a whole tenner for anyone with the audacity to start a new thread with the F word in it. What would we do with all the ?????? FOXTONS FOXTONS FOXTONS FOXTONS Sorry, I got carried away there; just getting a few freeby Fs in before the ban.

    seacow

Just had the worst dinner at Sea Cow. We sat at the very far corner near the back wall. It was early evening (6.30) so we had the table to ourselves. All during dinner flies were circling around us. It began to be a real pain swatting them away. Anyway, in the middle of dinner my friend said "just turn round and look" and I did, and it was like that scene in Hitchcock's The Birds with all the big black birds in the playground; the wall behind me was just covered with flies. We got up immediately and left. I told the waitress why we were leaving and said we would pay for the food but not the wine because we had hardly touched it and were hardly going to linger with all the flies buzzing around. She responded "Oh yes I know about the flies in that corner". That's it for me - I'll never set foot in the place again.

  5. No worries - none taken. Personally I'm not a fan of The Cure at all - I don't even own a CD! I know that lots of Cure fans tend to be hardcore though and I didn't want to see a thread start next week along the lines of "why didn't anyone tell us the Cure was reforming ..... tickets all sold out..... blah blah blah ..... I'm so sad I won't get to see them .... blah blah....". So I was just flagging it up.
  6. The Cure is reforming for a "one off" at Wembley next March (Thursday 20th). At the moment the trend is for supposedly "one off" gigs to stretch into 50 date tours, but I think that this might, possibly be a genuine one off. This is a long-awaited appearance by The Cure so demand for tickets will be extremely high. They go on sale on Saturday morning at 9.00am and will sell out very quickly. If there are any really big Cure fans on the ED forum who absolutely must get tickets for this gig at all costs then please feel free to PM me and I will give you some advice to make sure you get them. Sorry but I really can't post ticket buying info directly on the forum because it's a public forum and someone might stumble across it on a google search - and I really don't want that.
  7. That's a shame because you were keen to go. PM me if you're still interested and I'll find you tickets.
  8. All sold out quickly. Did everyone get tickets who wanted them?
  9. I daresay the Pistols' original fans are now working in the city and earning big bonuses. The Thursday night gig in Brixton has sold out on pre-sale on both Ticketmaster and Ticketweb. My gut feeling is that Friday and Saturday nights will be added very quickly - so don't panic. There will be a frenzy tomorrow morning at 9.00am when the tickets go on sale - but don't waste your energy. Keep hitting "refresh" on your PC and hold out for the Friday and Saturday night gigs. If you want to check the presale to see if more tickets are added today then go to www.ticketmaster.co.uk - the presale password is "Vacant".

John Mayer - tonight - Albert Hall - fabulous!
  11. Me too - I saw the purpley sex dwarf last night and he was brilliant.
  12. That's brilliant news - I'll keep my eye open for him in ED.
  13. YES I WOULD AND I HAVE DONE - not in Houston but in New York. There's a restaurant somewhere downtown (Soho I think) that has unisex toilets just like this. You have to remember to turn the light on inside the cubicle though; for some reason nobody can see inside so long as the light is. It was made even more unreal because it was a unisex toilet; very odd to watch passerby whilst having a pee. On a previous visit to NYC I stayed at the Hudson Hotel (tiny tiny rooms - typical Ian Schrager hotel). Anyway, it was possible to have a shower whilst surveying the Manhattan skyline - that was pretty cool. Last month I went to Prague for a friend's 40th birthday. I stayed at the Hotel Josef which is a big glass hotel. I stayed in room 801 which has a glass bathroom. It was OK for me because I was on my own - but you really wouldn't want to stay there on a romantic weekend away. Some things are private! Here's a picture
  14. Perversely, I?m considering joining BECAUSE it?s so expensive. I?m so very lazy (and lardy) that I really need to do some regular exercise and given that this place is so expensive, I would probably show up to get my money?s worth. If it was half the price my lazy ass would stay put on the sofa. Bizarre, but true.
  15. I'm another satisfied customer of AUSSIE MAN AND VAN REMOVALS. Really I cannot recommend them highly enough. I wish all companies were as efficient. I used them 10 years ago when I moved from Melbourne Grove to Sylvester Road - not a long way to move but they were brilliant. Telepone number is 020 8870 4003 www.manandvan.biz
  16. This is the most depressing thing I've read for a long time. Beating up a boy to pinch his puppy. That's really heartbreaking. I hope this turns out OK for you.
  17. Well spotted - when I first glanced at it I thought it looked like LA. East Dulwich twinned with LA - now there's a (bad) thought.

    Great Gigs

I know that the WHITE STRIPES have a huge and loyal fan base but I just don't get them. Notwithstanding this I went to a WS gig earlier this year and it was my BEST EVER gig of a band that I don?t actually like. It was at the Rivolli Ballroom in Lewisham a few months ago. I?m pasting a link to the venue website just so you can see how fabulous it is. http://www.jiveparty.com/ The front door security was a 9 year old girl checking IDs and the band security was an old geezer on crutches. The bar was run by some very nice WI(ish) ladies. It was just such a hoot; very surreal; all very civilized too. My friend and I got very tipsy. I think I may even have moshed (I'm over 40 - very undignified).

I'm still going to see James Blunt tomorrow night at Koko - he does a great Pixies cover BTW. The Bowie gig at Hammersmith was during a tube strike - it took ages to get there and back from ED. He played for hours and hours. At the time he hadn't toured for years so everything that night was very fresh for him. He seemed to enjoy himself as much/more than the audience. I remember thinking at the time that he would tour pretty soon - and he did.
  21. The Foxtons shop front just looks so huge. I wish it was going to be used for something more useful than an estate agent.
  22. Bring back expensive costume drama for Sunday tea time - that would make me happy. Men in tight trousers and women in pretty frocks. I'm easy to please really.

No I don't work for Stargreen. It's just an agency that not many people have heard of so it tends to still have a few tickets when others have sold out. I saw David Bowie at Hammersmith a couple of years ago when he did that whole Ziggy Stardust anniversary gig - he was great and a friend of mine was down at the front recording it (naughty I know). I listen to that bootleg all the time.
