If you want to fund research (rather than care), then Cancer Research UK. They are a) the biggest, and when you are funding research it takes a lot of dosh, so smaller charities sometimes have to only part-fund some stuff and b) they are not single-cancer and so push funding where it is most effective, rather than what is the better known by the public. (Full disclosure - my missus used to work for them)

Tablets are good, right up until you need significant use of the keyboard or the mouse. For the casual browser/emailer/tweeter they are fine. For serious use, get a laptop.

I think the worst change to hit England is weather luck. Over the past couple of years they have been amazingly lucky with the weather - it's rained when they've needed it and not rained when it could have and they needed it not to. One match, they hit the winning runs and it immediately pelted down. I think you've angered the gods. You'll need to sacrifice a virgin.
