If you want to fund research (rather than care), then Cancer Research UK. They are a) the biggest, and when you are funding research it takes a lot of dosh, so smaller charities sometimes have to only part-fund some stuff and b) they are not single-cancer and so push funding where it is most effective, rather than what is the better known by the public. (Full disclosure - my missus used to work for them)

So, a pretty poor scam if indeed it is one.

Is this the sign that the gentrification of ED is finally complete ?

I'd place good money to suggest the hot poker would not sticking out of their paws, but more likely sticking out of somewhere else. -
Meg1001 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You do realise that a private company EXTRACTS > profits from the taxpayer though right? Well, yes, but the theory is that private enterprise efficiencies can do the job at less cost to the taxpayer and still turn a profit for the companies involved. As an extreme example, the government could set up a factory and make its own photocopiers. Or it can buy them cheaper from Xerox, save the taxpayers money and the company still make a healthy profit.

Warning - be careful what you throw out...

Unless you are worried about the NSA or MI5 coming after you then that's probably overkill - we're talking common or garden bad guys here who want the easy information. A program like http://www.diskwipe.org/ will do the job. -

Amazing coincidental stat on the highlights package last night... when Michael Clarke was 3 n.o. they showed a graphic they had prepared... Sachin Tendulkar: 200 Tests 51 centuries 15921 Runs Michael Clarke + Alistair Cook between them: 200 Tests 51 Centuries 15921 Runs. The commentators said the stats guy was praying Clarke didn't hit a four or similar and mess up the milestone.

Tablets are good, right up until you need significant use of the keyboard or the mouse. For the casual browser/emailer/tweeter they are fine. For serious use, get a laptop.

You don't have a wireless doorbell, do you? We had the problem with someone just down the road installing one with the same frequency. Changed our frequency - end of problem. (Though not before pressing it a couple of times, just for fun...!)

I think Smith just soiled your lucky pants.

I think that is his perogative and coming onto a forum to complain about someone else not supporting things you believe in is poor. If you feel so strongly, then put your hand in your pocket and buy trees for the two groups.

As far as pensions were concerned, when they were first established, the average male lifespan was 67 years, meaning an average claim period of two years for men. The current life expectancy is 82.5 years for females and 78.5 for males. Something had to give.

Well if it's a Welsh anthem you're after, you could do worse than this piece of brilliance...

I'm enjoying it while I can. We are a very long way from the star studded Aussie line ups of the Waugh era. I'm hoping we wrap it up at Perth before the emperor's new clothing is spotted.

I think the worst change to hit England is weather luck. Over the past couple of years they have been amazingly lucky with the weather - it's rained when they've needed it and not rained when it could have and they needed it not to. One match, they hit the winning runs and it immediately pelted down. I think you've angered the gods. You'll need to sacrifice a virgin. And seeing as there is only one available, that'll mean finding someone else new to bat at No 3 then, as well.

Well, that was a first for X Factor this week - boy hits puberty halfway through a Beyonce song.

The Guardian? Being terribly middle class? And patronising? Well, that's never happened before...

England managed to outscore Michael Clarke by 24 runs. Well done. Mind you it was only because Monty stuck around. If you need someone to take a wild slash at a bouncer, Monty's your man.
