  1. Mobiles don't usually get viruses (though its not impossible), but you may have installed some apps that may cause you issues (either purposely or inadvertently). I assume that when you say "started optimising 72 apps" you mean "started upgrading 72 apps"? I've never heard of a phone optimising apps. Generally, there are two ways to clean up an Android phone. 1) Reboot it (i.e. hold the power button down a few seconds and then select 'reboot' when the menu comes up. That can usually fix OS glitches (I have to do it every now and again to fix a bug where my ring tone stops playing). Or 2) do a Factory Reset (google for instructions on this). But be warned - this will put your phone back to the state you bought it (plus any OS updates). You will have to reinstall your apps and you will lose all data and photos, so make sure you have everything off the phone before you do this and note down what apps you have. You can use your Google account to restore a backup, but that will probably just reintroduce whatever was the problem in the first place.

  4. cantthinkofaname Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What is everyone's view in why the stock levels are so bad at the moment, especially round here? Apparently, the BTL stamp duty change caused a blip in the number of sales in the first three months of the year. I can imagine that has soaked up a lot of the stock. Give it a couple of months and it will return to sanity. Something similar happened in early 2014. A lack of stock caused a sharp rise, then by Sep 2014 there was too much stock on the market as everyone tried to pile in and prices dropped back.
  5. To dredge up an old joke: it wasn't very lucky for the rabbit, was it?

When I first came to London from Oz that's exactly what I experienced. It lasted for about six months. What my body did to to make it stop happening I don't really want to think about.

    Diet

I don't think I dismissed your experiences, RPC, but - as Jeremy says - questioned whether it is fat going or some other mechanisms that caused a short term effect.

    Diet

That would only be possible if you did something like dehydrate, which jockeys have been known to do in order to 'make the weight' for races. It would be, at best, a very, very temporary weight loss. Or, alternatively, saw a leg off.

    Diet

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Or google the old British Heart Foundation 3-day > diet. A lot of people used to swear by that for losing 10lb. I'm pretty sure it is impossible to lose 10lb/5kg in three days even if you completely fasted. They say that 1 lb of fat is at least 3500 calories worth, and a woman only consumes about 2000 calories a day normally. That means you'd need to burn off at least 29000 calories in those three days, which is about 58 hours (or about 20 hours a day over the three days) on the treadmill.
  11. I read this yesterday. What exactly is the correlation they are trying to make between air pollution and schools?
  12. Yep, Labour too: http://order-order.com/2016/05/16/two-more-labour-candidates-didnt-declare-election-buses/ They would have to prove that these were *deliberate* attempts to overspend, rather than just accounting errors, for there to be a rerun of the poll. That's unlikely.

  15. Have you done a full Windows update? XP has been around for about 15 years, so you might be a little behind on networking software.
  16. The WPA2 key should just be the standard wifi password. What OS is the laptop running?

  20. Louisa - Iceland have a delivery service. They will come to you with as many vol-au-vents as you want.
  21. Go into any Metro Bank and they have coin-counting machines. And they won't slug you for a percentage of the cash like Coinstar.

    Diet

DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When you crash diet your brain tells your body to store fat which is why people find > they are not losing weight as fast as they would like. Not quite. Your body adapts by lowering you metabolism rate - it basically goes into famine mode as a defence mechanism. So, not only does your weight loss slow, as soon as you come off the diet and fall back to you previous calorie intake, you pack the pounds back on very quickly. After you put all the weight back on, your body will re-adjust your metabolism, but by then it is too late.
