  1. About 30 votes behind first place! http://www.foe.co.uk/page/run-sun-competition-gallery?item=74791
  2. Habs certainly discussed the desirability of shared community facilities such as a pool with Southwark, and would be very open to something like that. Obviously something else that a primary on that site would put at risk of ever happening, if it ever can. HenryB, I understand your worries. We're close to there too. I would wait and see what happens this year. Goodrich's catchment certainly went out on first offers, and the places eventually taken at Harris went AFTER that round of offers, so the actual Goodrich catchment for 2014 will be bigger still. 2015, when Harris is fully in the system, and the Belham school is open, will be interesting.
  3. I think, Penguin, although also may be wrong, that the square footage discussed by Habs and others includes buildings up to a number of floors considered optimum for school architecture, rather than just the square footage of land itself. So if, say, three floors is considered ideal, then it's 19,550 square metres of three storey buildings.
  4. James, as much space as possible, personally. But I'll go by your suggestion upthread that "our ideal secondary school would need 19,550m2". It already has less than that if the NHS is in fact only releasing 17,000m square. Adding a primary to the site compromises the secondary even futher.
  5. The possibility that there will be even less space for the school than previously thought makes it important to keep up pressure on the DfE and EFA not to put a primary school on the site too. Please sign the petition if you haven't already and it matters to you. https://www.change.org/p/david-laws-mp-don-t-squeeze-two-schools-onto-the-dulwich-hospital-site I am very glad that James seems to have abandoned his support for placing the primary on the site though.

  7. Odette is really fabulous, and also will do a proper thorough massage if you want one rather than a 'stroky' one with oils etc.!
  8. Yes, I saw it yesterday as it happens! Very pleased.
  9. Foxtons site is much closer to the station though. Although I agree that it must be the case that they wouldn't say no outright to East Dulwich!
  10. Five years ago, the road I then lived on was resurfaced and cars moved by Conway without any notice at all, or information about where our cars were. The council told me I had to wait 48 hours for a response to find out where my car was. Meanwhile Conway staff had tried to extract cash from some builders I was employing for material they had on the road with a valid permit. Turned out only a few houses had had letters to warn them of the works. My councillors managed to get information on the whereabouts of my car the same day, and also asked for details on the issue with my builders, and I was assured then that Southwark intended to take all responsibility for notifying residents on works off Conway and bring it in-house. Doesn't sound like that's happened.
  11. Nandos has a different profile to the others. It relies on a higher volume of customers. The others will expect customers to eat 2/3 courses and hopefully drink booze.
  12. I'm not sure Lordship Lane has the passing trade for any real fast food place. It's not near major shops or transport, and won't have a huge lunch trade. The area doesn't really attract teenagers. Even the cinema won't create the volume and the demographic required. I'd have thought Byron or similar might be interested - GBK is doing OK up there. Or another slightly upmarket chain - I don't know the names of many given that I now hang out mostly either round here or at work, where we have none nearby - maybe Wahaca? (In my dreams.)
  13. Yes, I meant practice runs for this event!
  14. No they wouldn't. If they're fully protected, they are put into an MPS vehicle that meets security standards. Diplomatic Jags don't cut it. I do know what I'm talking about!
  15. Quite possibly! It's not unusual for visitors to stay with friends or relatives when in the UK. Probably not Kerry though.
  16. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-30928114 My guess is that it is one or more of the attendees at this. They could be staying somewhere local. The UK has treaty obligations to give police protection to visiting heads of state, foreign ministers, and any other visiting statesperson judged to be at risk.
  17. No, the police don't do anything like this for money. Slebs use private security. The MPS offer protection on a risk basis to certain public figures.
  18. Almost no one gets that treatment now actually. If it was just the police vehicle and nothing else, then it's very unlikely any VIP was involved.
  19. I pass no other comment on him or his article, but he's not a Home-Counties blow-in.
  20. Giles Coren grew up in Cricklewood.
  21. The other day you were complaining about schools being built in the area though. This will happen if an area continues to thrive, and grow. I appreciate you feel sad at the loss of establishments you know well and care about, and I've lived here long enough myself to find the pace of change a bit much at times, but nowhere stays the same. Nowhere.
  22. First Mate, this document is quite interesting reading - the Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group's Project Initiation Document for the Health Centre. I imagine they are further on in thinking now, but the CCG's website probably has any more recent documents. It says that the clinical need is based on projections to 2026, and they imagine the facilities will be slightly underused at first. It also gives contact details for officers involved. I am not at all involved in this, and know very little about it, so I found this document quite useful! http://www.southwarkccg.nhs.uk/news-and-publications/meeting-papers/governing-body/Governing%20Body%20Meeting%20Papers/ENC%20K%20-%20Dulwich%20Project%20Initiation%20Document.pdf
  23. When you say Forest Hill Clinic, do you mean Forest Hill Road practice? Because if so that is bizarre as they DO do contraception. How weird.
  24. Forest Hill Road does do coil insertions/removals and checks.
