    Thanks both!
  2. Take its reg number and description and report it to the council? Why would somebody leave a van with its engine running?
  3. :)) :)) :))
  4. My favourite Vermeer will never seem the same again :( :)) :)) :))
  5. There have been several plant/pot thefts in Nunhead recently. Including from the front of a house on Nunhead Green, in broad daylight. I had all my window boxes stolen one afternoon a few years back. It was just before Mother's Day. The police said the thieves had been going round the area in a van taking plants. Like VR_SE22 I heard a sort of scraping noise at the front, and thought nothing of it. I had a lodger at the time, and he came back from work and asked where the window boxes were :(

Ulverscroft Road. Off North Cross Road.

  8. I have reported it. There was a section under "crime" for "threats, verbal abuse or assault." Thankfully it wasn't assault.
  9. Thanks!
  10. Just looking at the online reporting site for the Met. Would this come under "crime" (not a crime as far as I can see) or "antisocial behaviour"? I can't see that any other category applies, except possibly "something you've seen or heard"? None of them really seem relevant to the situation.

  12. Thanks both, I was actually outside my house when it happened, so a security camera wouldn't have helped I think. I was at one point worried he was about to get out of his car, but thankfully he didn't.

  14. Don't assume that just because somebody is an electrician that they will do a good job (I speak from experience). I'd deffo look for somebody with a lot of recommendations on here from people who aren't all (or mostly) first/only time posters. You can see their other posts by clicking on their name.

I've been recommended by a friend to a small running shop in Beckenham who can advise me. However another friend says I can expect to pay around ?90 for a decent pair (AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH) and that cheaper shoes are not advisable because they don't give enough support (especially at your aka my ancient age, she didn't add). Out with my credit card, then :))
  16. It was a silver Astra, if that rings any bells with anybody. White man maybe late thirties early forties, hard to tell. I imagine he is going round the area looking for "rubbish" which people might want "cleared."

GP says I've got to actually go to the surgery and be checked over :( Then I've got to sort out running shoes. Which I have just found out are exorbitantly expensive, grammar. But hey, now I've posted on here I've got no excuse not to do it, have I? :)
  18. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Wow ! What a vile individual. > Personally I?d call the police, I wonder if this > guy was casing the place. Don't know, I was outside looking at the front because the builders had just left for the day. It doesn't seem worth bothering the police, what are they going to do? If they find the guy and speak to him, it could make things worse for me :( If he was checking the place out, he won't be very happy if he breaks in. I don't even have a TV at the moment - there's nothing of value here at all.
  19. I've just had a "visit" from somebody asking if I wanted rubbish clearance. There is a pile of builder's stuff outside my house. When I said no, the builders were coming back, he said was it all rubbish. When I said I had no idea, he said what a pity I had such a lovely house (it has been boarded up for months and only just unboarded) but was so rude (???) and how about he came back tomorrow and broke all my windows. I said I would take his car reg (which I did) and he said the car wasn't registered to him anyway. Has anybody else had a similar "visit"? I feel very shaken. Not to mention worried about my windows :(

Thanks all. Yes far too hot to start now :) Will check out Dulwich Runners. Had to run for the 185 yesterday when I forgot the bus stop outside the Post Office was closed. Did catch it, though :))

So back on topic, does anybody know about local groups please? eg park running groups who specifically do couch to 5K?

Couch to 5K is specifically designed to get people who don't/can't run much at all working up to it gradually over nine weeks. In the first week, you only do 60 seconds of running at a time, interspersed with 90 seconds of walking, for 20 minutes. I haven't dared look beyond that :)) I'm speaking to my GP tomorrow to double check I'm OK to do it. But I'd rather do it in a group as I think I would be less likely to drop out halfway. I don't think I'll start while it's so hot, though :)
