The fare from Goose > Green to Guys as I type is ?10.30. That's very good. I had to get a taxi home from Guy's a few weeks ago and it was more than twice that :(

Yes, thanks TAD. I realised after I'd posted that just because someone else likes a particular brand doesn't mean that I will!
  3. I have bunions. They run (no pun intended) in my family. I was told by a podiatrist I saw for something else that an operation would not be worthwhile. My mother had an op for hers. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it didn't work. I think it probably depends on individual circumstances and whether for you the likely advantages would outweigh the cons? Is your GP recommending you have it done? ETA: Could you have one foot done at a time, so you could hopefully still hobble about?

Yes, I guess that's the problem! I need at least two, I know. Don't watch much TV at the moment for various tedious reasons, but have been reading cookery books in a belated attempt to improve my cooking before I snuff it :))

    Olive oil

I have a vague memory of someone having tasters of olive oil somewhere in Lordship Lane one Saturday. Could it have been the new (ish) cheese shop? I vaguely remember sampling some and not liking it much because it was quite bitter, but as my memory is not great I could be completely wrong :)) Actually it's just occurred to me I could try Borough Market. Walked through there recently just as it was closing, we got a free portion of very delicious herby chips thrust upon us! They would probably have oils you could sample, wouldn't they, rather than taking a chance on a whole expensive tin or bottle?

The M&S one is perfectly OK, I just wanted to try something a bit "better", but I don't have enough knowledge even to know what that might mean :)

Thanks, I was thinking more of a specific recommended brand and where to buy it?

    Olive oil

After a lifetime of going for the cheapest (within reason) I have belatedly realised that it's quite nice to spend a bit more and have something that tastes a lot nicer (sorry about the repetition of nice :) ). Not just with olive oil, but I'm starting there :) I know nothing about olive oil except that you use different types for salad dressing and actually cooking with. I'm presently using M&S olive oil (purely for convenience as I get other things from M&S). Can anybody point me in the direction of the best place locally to buy something a bit better, and also maybe to make some recommendations of what to buy?

Yes of course it makes sense to have two separate websites for two different aspects of your business. I was just confused because you don't seem to have a restaurant menu (or much information) on the restaurant website, but the restaurant opening comes up first on the catering website, but I can't see a menu there either.... Have I just missed them? Is there somewhere I should be clicking? My technological expertise is somewhat lacking :) Please don't take this as a negative comment! I am looking forward to your opening, but I'd like to know what your menu will be! ETA: And as somebody who also has to keep a website up to date, I do appreciate that at present you probably have a lot more priorities than updating your website!

I assumed the saucychip.com one above related to their mobile van business (I think they go to festivals etc?) and the saucyrestaurants.com one related to their restaurants , but who knows ......
  17. Well, the website isn't very informative.

  20. Yes! Didn't last long. Then Franco Manca completely remodelled the space, which took ages.

That would be very very funny if it wasn't so terrifying. Also terrifying is that there is now a petition attempting to get Sadiq Khan sacked. When I first saw it I thought it was a joke. It isn't. Last night it had already got thousands of signatures. I don't want to look again. I feel physically sick at what this country and the world is becoming, and that so many people seem oblivious.

  23. I like the net bags (except for things which may fall through the holes!) They are light and easy to carry as they take up virtually no room, but expand to hold a lot. I used to use those nylon (?) ones which fold up into a tiny bag. Until the day I put keys in them, and the keys made a hole in the bag and dropped out through the hole. Somewhere in Penge :)) Unluckily they were somebody else's keys. Luckily they didn't have any identifying features. Ooops.
  24. This was what they posted last October, so I don't know what happened: "Just to keep you all in the loop regarding our food offer... From this week we will have the magnificent Stranger Naans guys providing delicious meals every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5pm onwards and on Saturdays from midday 'til late. Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from Sunday 14th October we will have local foodsters Taco De Planta serving up their gorgeous Tacos. If you have any questions feel free to drop us a line at [email protected]. Much love, The DBD team x"

Trouble was I never did, and most of it went past its use by date and got binned. In future I'm just deciding on recipes first and then buying the ingredients for them :))
