  1. In the last few weeks I have received several items of mail for addresses with the same house number as mine but completely different roads (including two cafes, named as part of the address. Surely it should be obvious to anybody that my house is not a cafe). I have also got mail for other house numbers in my own road, one of which was a bank statement which I opened by mistake (I resisted the temptation to look at it :))) Yesterday I got a catalogue for somebody with the same house number but different roads. When the post came today, I gave it to the postie. His response "I wasn't working yesterday." Then I looked at today's post. It included a letter clearly marked for the house next door. So I called him back and gave that back to him as well. His response "Well it's only for next door" (meaning, you could have put that through their letter box yourself, couldn't you?) Er, yes I could, but I'm bloody sick of delivering other people's post. Where do they get these people from? What really worries me is where my own mail is going. Apart from things I know have definitely gone missing, It's the things I don't know about :(

I'm sorry you are so ill, but so are others of us. Illness didn't seem to stop you posting misinformation on here about a local business, and it doesn't preclude admitting you were wrong.

On past form, he will be quiet for a bit then carry on as if nothing has happened. When presented with actual facts he doesn't generally respond, let alone apologise. It's a bit like Donald Trump but more boring.

Unlimited entry for a year (or more depending on offers). With my partner and two grandkids we broke even after only two visits. Bargain :)
  9. Whoever did this it is awful, but what makes you think the woman was not the child's mother?

Special offer only to you ! Sorry, shan't be doing that. Did all that stuff in the seventies and eighties. Moved on. Rendelharris, I agree.
  12. The Plough is the pits :(
  13. Thanks, ed_pete, that's really useful. Will take my grandkids on their next visit (we still have half the Tower to do! Luckily I've got one of those annual cards, well worth it, we already got our money's worth on two visits to the Tower and one to Hampton Court!) ETA: Pity they don't do the same for the Shard. I missed out on the original offer despite queuing for ages.

    Cash or Card

Really good and arrived in 24 hours. I've seen stall traders struggling with these because they can't get a signal, or can't get connected. Might be fine for some things, but maybe not when you're dealing with a queue of people! Though at least our concert tickets are mainly sold online in advance via WeGotTickets.

    Cash or Card

Surely most people pay other people/organisations by BACS these days rather than cheque? It's far quicker and easier. ETA: Ten years ago we used to pay our headliners by cheque. It's always BACS now, whether to the artist or the agent. ETA: Easier for them, and easier for us. And surely you'd pay membership fees etc by direct debit or standing order? That's what I do for the charities I support. If you send a cheque, it's got to be processed manually at the other end, then somebody has to pay it in at the bank. Plus it might get lost in the post.
  16. I'm surprised admin haven't taken it upon themselves to expand on/change the subject of this thread. "Is this normal?" could refer to many many things. In fact the mind boggles :)) ETA: Oh, they have! Or someone has ......
  17. Isn't it about time there was some sort of photo, fingerprint or voice recognition used with cards? Is this technologically feasible, or financially viable?

  19. Sorry, Gardenman, even I can't agree with that. Who do you think is setting these "lessons" you are "meant" to learn, then? How are "you" bringing challenges into your life? What exactly does "your life is for your growth" mean in practice?

    Cash or Card

A couple of times at our gigs, we have had people saying they never carry cash, and being annoyed when we say we don't take cards! Luckily, the lovely Ivy House gives cashback at the bar :)
  22. GraceLondon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thanks. I'm not sure I understand, is the > chiropractor canvasing for the CPZ or is this a > separate matter? The chiropractor definitely does not want a CPZ because it would mean patients with a mobility problem potentially having to park some way from his clinic, and then not be able to walk there. Therefore it will impact on his business, because they will go to a chiropractor where they can park within a reasonable distance. He is a very good chiropractor, btw!
  23. I would be quite happy to buy fish at the door! If it was a good price and looked/smelled fresh, I'd bung it in my chest freezer along with all the veg from my allotment! Can't understand how anybody could buy "too much", though - surely you say how much you want and pay accordingly?! Or do they grab your wallet and shove all their boxes through your door, then scarper? :))
  24. I have also had things delivered which have been opened, or somebody has tried to open them.
