A very good point, but for the longer term? I doubt the council will hold up their immediate plans in order to debate this. It must extend nationwide surely and involve a great deal of consultation, though I have no idea exactly what would be involved. Legislation?

How can people be sure that it will be you and not somebody else who replies to their emails? 2. Why are you apparently not acknowledging - after pages and pages of threads discussing these cemeteries - that many people can value, and indeed love, "heritage and wild beauty" whilst accepting that in certain circumstances other factors become at least equally valuable? Such as maintaining a local burial facility so that people can remember their loved ones in peace without having to travel miles from the area? Particularly when this area already has proper woods and other wild spaces? 3. I am sorry you are ill, but perhaps when you feel better you may wish to address the unanswered questions already put to you on this thread, as outlined by EdAus above? That would help the discussion along.

No, but if no police came I guess it was gas rather than bomb? How frightening.

Thanks, I still don't remember it :))

Dulwich Medical Centre CQC report out: "Requires Improvement"

I'm sure many people are now getting quick appointments at DMC. However human nature being what it is, people tend to complain about bad things, but don't tend to praise good things. So if there has been a general improvement it may not be reflected in posts on here, especially as most patients probably don't post on the forum or even know about it. -
Great, thanks.

Google them. You can see what sort of price they might fetch second hand. If worth while and you need the money, put them on eBay or Amazon. Otherwise, take them to one of the local charity shops. Or advertise them for free on here. I hardly ever use dictionaries or this kind of reference book any more, and I've given most of mine away. I just look online. It's much quicker :)

EDAus, I can't open docx files (ancient laptop). If possible could you attach it as a doc? Thanks.

Eating out is (mostly) a pleasure. Spending hours shopping, preparing and cooking something at home which is devoured in a fraction of the time it took to make and then leaves a mound of washing up or stuff to load the dishwasher with is not much of a pleasure for me, except when I have visitors.

My one yesterday was only made last week, and the one I have for next Tuesday was made yesterday. Possibly there's some age filter, and I got early appointments because I'm so ancient :) -

I "should" care? I think - particularly given poor reports on here of several other local surgeries - that we should be grateful for an improvement rather than complaining about the past. There are issues nationwide with getting GP appointments, and I don't think it can be helping the morale of anybody at DMC to have constant griping on here even when they appear to be making efforts to improve. Maybe I was lucky. If you aren't, you can always change surgeries, though I'd be worried that anywhere else might be just as bad if not worse. -

But you can't use a landline while you're going through a tunnel or in a station, and with a cordless phone the battery still runs down on long calls, at least mine does. I think on balance I'm persuaded to keep it, though, even though I hardly use it, particularly as I'm highly unlikely to move to V*rgin broadband. ETA: Couldn't understand why I couldn't post this until I realised it contained a BAD WORD :))

To continue in a positive vein .... I was seen almost on time. I had several things to ask about, because I was so sure I'd have to wait weeks for an appointment I had put off making one. I came out with two separate referrals to specialists elsewhere, a second appointment at DMC early next week to look at another thing in more detail because there wasn't enough time for it all in a single appointment, and the suggestion I have an overdue flu jab which I'd forgotten all about. A nurse came in and did the flu jab there and then. Well impressed. Apart from feeling I am finally disintegrating :) The appointment for next week was made while I was with the GP. -

Really impressed by Mr Bao in Peckham. Apparently it's been open six weeks and has replaced a shoe shop, which I don't remember every seeing. Had lunch there on Saturday. Had their equivalent of the Full English, only spicy. It was absolutely delicious, especially the beans, and great value for money. We will be working our way through their (quite short) menu over the coming weeks, and then (probably) starting again :)) The staff were really lovely as well. Thank you to South East London Journal's review of it, as we'd never have thought of going there otherwise. We also put our heads round the door of John the Unicorn. Interesting decor :)

Rye Lane Post office in Peckham is facing closure - ACT NOW
Sue replied to dbboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just to be clear, Royal Mail does not run Post Offices. The Post Office and Royal Mail are completely separate companies. Royal Mail delivers parcels and letters. Post Offices offer a wide range of services. Obviously there is a relationship between them. Royal Mail was once part of the Post Office, but many moons ago, so was BT :) -

That's true, though I've only ever used it once and then I had to phone the person concerned first to make sure she was expecting the call :)) It was when my grandchildren were staying :))

If it turns out not to be cheaper for me, then I will revert to the present system, but I will be very surprised if I don't save money. I'm already quite careful about not wasting water.
