I've found all the (three?) DIY shops in East Dulwich helpful, but Shaun's went well beyond the call of duty to help last time I went in there.

Or if you are no longer getting emails re threads you were following, you've probably clicked on "stop following this thread" by mistake. Just go to the thread directly and click again on "follow this thread" at the bottom.

Agree with Foxy. They're vile. I can't understand what anybody sees in them. I'd rather have a tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil or a mouthful of sea water. I've tried several times in the hope of growing to like them, most recently at Whitstable, but am never intending to try again :)) ETA: Is that grammatical?

I'm sure the Friends of One Tree Hill will be happy. Logs are really important for a wide range of wildlife, including stag beetles, which are an endangered species. I'm surprised you didn't know that. -
picmicnic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Personally - my perception of burglary in our area > (including SE22) is high But is your perception not affected by the fact that we in East Dulwich have a forum, and many people will post on here if they have been burgled? Whereas most places in London and outside London do not have a forum, so if you live there you will not be likely to hear about most of the burglaries taking place.

Hey, thanks for the mention at number 2 above, but just to clarify - Our Club Nights are moving from The Old Nun's Head to The White Horse in Peckham as from 10 March. Our Singarounds (not singalongs, though you can of course sing along to someone else's song if you want to and if they don't mind!) are moving from The Old Nun's Head to the refectory in The Ivy House in Nunhead as from Sunday 13 March. Our Beginners' Sessions (which we don't actually run ourselves but we publicise them on our website) hadn't found a new home yet the last we heard :( Our concerts, thank God and touch wood, are staying at The Ivy House. All a bit of a nightmare but you can find out more here: http://www.thegooseisout.com http://whitehorsepeckham.co.uk/ http://www.ivyhousenunhead.com/ And if you like craft beer, what used to be the cosy function room upstairs at The Old Nun's Head with great acoustics will soon be a dedicated craft beer bar :(

If anyone does > have a lived one there and cares about the grave, > then they'll know about the plans, it's not like > they're going to turn up and be surprised. Otta, it's pointless trying to reason with somebody like this. They distort the facts to suit their agenda, and use emotive language to appeal to people's emotions and to disguise their distortion of the facts. It's sad, but I suppose it's human nature when somebody feels strongly about something. The problem is that it completely destroys any credibility they have, and means that if they do actually sometimes state a fact without distortion, it probably won't be taken seriously because of their past history. ETA: I like the "lived" typo, btw. Quite appropriate! -

EDOldie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Ivy House always looks very children friendly The Ivy House positively welcomes children (before a certain time) and dogs (at any time!), and has a notice up to that effect! There are usually several children around (during the day). It doesn't have a separate childrens' room, but there are high chairs and some kids' toys and games around, also a small garden. If the pub isn't too busy, the kids can run around in the ballroom, though they're not allowed on the stage. It's also very near Peckham Rye for grass, a park, a playground and feeding the ducks. ETA: And they do kids' portions of food. http://www.ivyhousenunhead.com/

Well unfortunately, that's what happens when you take the sort of attitude and use the kinds of methods displayed on your posts on this forum. It's never a great idea to antagonise the people who will be making the decisions. -
FYI Cherry Tree not child friendly (after 7.30pm)

Same here. It's a bit different on a bus though because crying children can't always be comforted, and if it was me, I'd just want to get home, not get off the bus miles before my stop :( But pubs and restaurants - yes. Take the bloody crying kid somewhere else! -

ETA: Unless you want to crack open a couple of bottles there, sit on the belt and ask the checkout operator to join you in an alcohol free beer :))

TFL to take over London's entire suburban rail network

I think more cameras would be a deterrent. I'm bloody sick of people jumping red lights and therefore holding up traffic which is, for example, trying to turn right (or completely preventing them from turning right at all until the lights change again) and also meaning that pedestrians trying to cross can't safely do so either. And I can't see any point in having a 20mph limit which is by and large completely ignored and not enforced at all. The more cameras the better in my view. And I say that as somebody who has been done twice in the past for speeding.

Have you read over your more recent (in particular) posts on here? Do you honestly think this kind of approach can possibly be helping your cause? What do your fellow campaigners feel about it, I wonder? -
