Thanks, that sounds useful. I will investigate kits, but I have a whole allotment presently entirely given over to raised beds (many many of them!) and I don't think it would be feasible to replace them all by using kits.

I recently had a driver try and deliver a load of groceries to me which were for another house completely. He wouldn't have realised if I hadn't told him I hadn't ordered any groceries!
  3. Thanks, I know they're straightforward, I just need to have the confidence to go for it, hence the course!
  4. I need a very short (hopefully) course to help me mend/rebuild raised beds on my allotment. Does anybody know of anything suitable locally? I'm totally cack-handed, but I did make some wooden windowboxes circa 1991 ( :)) ) of which I was quite proud at the time, however I think the raised beds will need reinforcing at the corners.

    99p shop

What 99p shop? There isn't one in ED (wish there was!)
  6. ruffers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not sure how they could Sue, it's their error. That's not the point. She has kept stuff that isn't hers and that she hasn't paid for. If you gave me a thousand pounds by mistake and I kept it, that would be OK then because it was your error? No difference in principle. But of course Waitrose should well compensate the OP who has been left without part of her shopping.
  7. Sorry, posted stupid question.
  8. Waitrose should charge her for them. What have they had to say about it?

Can't ever see things changing. (and I wrote) Good thing we're not all like you then, Foxy, eh?! :)) It was indeed intended to be a light-hearted comment, however I do sometimes find the Fox's life view as posted on here and as exemplified by that particular post wears me down :( Sorry Fox.

  15. But the point is, it's an "inconvenience" which is going on far longer than it should because nobody is bloody working on it. And it's probably not a "minor" inconvenience if you have a disability which means it takes you much longer than most people to walk to another bus stop. GRRRRRRRRR.
  16. The hospice shop near The Palmerston takes books. So does the Mind shop on Goose Green roundabout, if that is nearer to you.

But according to the plan above, all that is being done is "resurfacing". Do you have a link to the other thread you mention?

Why shouldn't those children and people be there? The worksheets (or "worksheets" as you call them) are usually excellent. My grandchildren love going to galleries. It will hopefully lead to their loving art when they are older. We talk about the pictures, just as the other people are doing. And "vacuous tourists"?? If you go to a gallery out of London, doesn't that make you too a "vacuous tourist"? What a load of ********.

I think it would depend on whether the person staying pays council tax at the property? I have my sister staying with me at the moment while she sells her flat. She pays council tax at the flat she owns, so I have assumed that I would still get the single occupancy council tax here. However once she has moved out of her flat, if she hasn't found a place to buy and is still living with me, I imagine then I would lose the single occupancy discount (I'd be better off though as she'd be paying half the council tax :) ) ETA: Sorry, just realised I'm not sure if you're talking about housing benefit or council tax.

The traffic light at the start of them is on the corner of NX Road, outside Londis. They seem to be the ones described in ed_pete's map above.
