Not > people's time, none of it goes to campaign > organisers." Well I'd bloody well hope none of it was going to pay for people's time or to campaign organisers! Though surely "tech support" and "graphics" involves people's time??? So it's to pay your costs of publicising the campaign. (The poster for our benefit was designed for free. And we paid for all the printing costs ourselves. Just saying.) So why did edborders originally say "the money will be used to help reforest and preserve graves in Camberwell Old and New Cemeteries" ? Though I see this has been changed in his post above. I'm guessing it has been changed because somebody on another thread pointed out to edborders that the money could not actually be used for that purpose unless he and his group were intending to use something along the lines of guerilla gardening tactics in the cemeteries, for which the council are responsible ...... -
minder Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes, well done for raising the ?2,500 you mention > for your cause but let somebody else get a look in > too! Sorry? I mentioned that in the other thread because the Woods people are having a benefit but they aren't saying (or hadn't yesterday, maybe they have now, I haven't been on the forum today until now) what the money will be used for. Whereas ours (and I would have thought all other??) benefit gigs made it quite clear in all the publicity where the money would be going. I'm not at all clear what your point is about "letting somebody else get a look in"?? I'm all for raising money for charity, the more benefit gigs the better as far as I'm concerned, provided it's for a worthy cause. But I shan't be doing another one in the near future, it's a hell of a lot of work even with many brilliant helpers :))

I'm amazed nobody remembers! It was somebody from the "old" Cherry Tree (actually it might have been the pub's previous name, but I can't now remember what that was) who put a fake post on the forum bigging up the Cherry Tree and saying that they were new to the area (I think) and had been trying out the local pubs, and all the other pubs nearby were crap and the Cherry Tree was wonderful. They used the (what I thought was) famous phrase along the lines of "and the customer service in x was so bad that I felt crushed and devalued". Unfortunately for them, somebody noticed that their previous post had been - I think - advertising for staff in (drum roll) The Cherry Tree!! DUH :))

Sorry, you'll have to click on the link on edhistory's post on the previous page. Or wait! The wonders of modern technology! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?20,file=204661 -
My mobile mechanic always lists in detail on the invoice exactly what he has done and bought. If it was me, I'd be asking my garage what "mmiscellaneous" covered!

Here you are, missylewie, this group will welcome you with open arms: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1590943,page=1 ETA: But then a glance at the first page of the forum section you actually posted in would have told you that ..... no? -

spider69 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Explain There are numerous threads on here relating to "Save Southwark Woods" etc, one of which is active in this section of the forum today, and the person who started this campaign is called Lewis. Just seems a strange coincidence that a first time poster with a similar name should have a first post concerning this very subject. But as I say, I have a suspicious mind :) ETA: If this is just an unusual concidence, then of course I apologise profusely for my suspicions. but to the best of my knowledge there has never been a poster on the forum - let alone a first time poster - asking so specifically about green spaces and even seeking a local group relating to them ........ "I prefer wild places like woods" - well, a glance at a map would show you what parks and woods are in the area. I moved here for precisely that reason, having looked at a map of London. -

HopOne Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 5. You have got that right. This is the part > that we would most helpfully be discussing! But why does it need to be discussed again here? It's already been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere. Although I must admit, there have been so many threads started by members of your group, I am losing track completely of who has said what where. And please will somebody tell me what exactly your benefit night is raising money FOR? Are you all going to build tree houses, and live in them so nobody can cut the trees down? That should get you some publicity :) -
Any advice for child with travel sickness please?

Helpful advice from Grok as always. It's getting really tedious. -

Any advice for child with travel sickness please?
Sue replied to PohSuan's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The travel sickness wrist bands worked well for me (on boats) and for my daughter when she was little, but you do need to make sure they are positioned correctly. My granddaughters use travel sickness tablets in the car. They work for them. You need to make sure the children take them at the recommended time long enough before you start travelling, and obviously at the recommended dose for their age. Just in case, have sick bags ready - plastic carriers will do - and if possible somebody (depending on the age of the child) ready to hold the bag. If you're on a motorway or certain other roads, it may be impossible to stop. Have a supply of wipes and clean clothes ready, just in case, and plain water (also to sip if necessary). If they've got long hair, tie it back before the journey starts so they're not sick on it :)) Distract their attention with singing along, games etc, if you can bear it :)) And yes, as above, don't use loads of side streets or bendy roads, if at all possible. I'm rarely carsick but got very queasy on a very long bendy road abroad with a quite fast driver. As regards moving the thread, I think you have to ask admin to do that. -
New opportunity to save the woods!! Deadline Friday 23rd

With the help of a great many people all giving their time for free, http://www.thegooseisout.com made well over ?2500 on Friday at a benefit concert, also at The Ivy House. This money is being used for a very clear cause, to help provide refugees arriving in Calais and Lesvos with vital things like shelters and heaters. http://www.helprefugees.org.uk/ Please can you tell us exactly what the money from your comedy benefit will be used for? For example, how will it help to protect "our children's trees"? And I believe you also had a previous benefit - how was that money used? This question has been asked of you before, and as far as I can see has not been answered. Forgive me if it has, and I've missed it. ETA: I see that your publicity material still refers to the non-existent "Southwark Woods" which you have invented. ETA: I am not in any way intending to denigrate your performance, which I am sure will be excellent. It is what the money will be used for that concerns me. -

You shouldn't be bloody jumping lights at all, however you try to rationalise it to yourself and others. And if saying that means I am "pompous and self important", well I have two words to say in response to that. One begins with F, and the other begins with Y.

Really glad you reported him to the police. This is completely off topic (sorry admin) but it's quite funny in a sort of way. I campaigned with Hope Not Hate in the Barking and Dagenham election in 2010, and I have a bright red tee shirt which says on the front "Hope 51, BNP 0" (referring to the number of seats they didn't win). I wore it last Autumn and thought I was getting some very strange looks. When I got home, I realised that all the text apart from the "BNP" - in very large letters - was obscured by a jacket I was wearing :)) To all those who saw it in Lordship Lane and North Cross Road - SORRY!!! :))

Maybe you might have more luck if your subject heading was a bit more specific? eg "Did You Donate a Coat to Barry House on Saturday?" Hope you find the owner, and well done for your honesty.

That's awful :( However the vile driver may not have lived there, I suppose. Unfortunately there are probably a few people like that everywhere :( however I can completely understand why you wouldn't want to move there.

There was a recent programme on channel 5 where a number of alcoholics told their stories. Did anybody else see it? I thought it was very moving and totally inspiring in some cases. They included a GP, a burglar and a cellist. On the other hand it did make me think maybe I'm not so bad after all - one of them used to drink two bottles of wine before going to work! How can your body handle that?

If you've got a VHS of Zefirelli's over the top movie of La Traviata (early eighties), I'll buy it off you. Long shot I know. I binned mine because I couldn't watch the tragic ending, and now - being made of sterner stuff - find it's not available on DVD for less than around fifty quid :(
