  1. Yes. And now the old Dell is playing up again. Wouldn't shut down last night 😭 Clearly I am either very unlucky or something more sinister is going on 🤣🤣🤣
  2. Thanks Ilona, it was that article which led me to do the Google search in the first place! And also to sign up to get updates from the Stop Trump thing, though I have mixed feelings about that (diplomacy etc. Starmer in a difficult position etc.) I know, it's never ending. And when I googled (Google!!!) to find out whether our website was American, I found out it was incorporated in Israel with its Headquarters in Tel Aviv 😭
  3. Sadly I am not in the market for buying a new car, electric or otherwise, or else I would happily join the Tesla boycott, which seems to be having the desired effect (sales have fallen significantly, and Trump is calling the boycotters Radical Left Lunatics 🤣) I googled to try to find out if I was likely to buy anything American, in order to replace it with something not American, and the only thing I can find so far is Fairy Liquid (of which I already have a lifetime's supply, as I have a dishwasher, so I rarely actually use the FL). I really don't feel I can google absolutely everything I buy, but does anyone know of a website which has a comprehensive list of American imports to the UK, including but not solely food and household stuff? Also, Amazon and eBay are both American, which is annoying as I buy quite a lot from both as it's convenient, so I will have to rethink that, I suppose.
  4. Bit hard to do that in the middle of the night without causing even more disturbance to other neighbours than the original barking! Are you sure you need to provide an address? There must be loads of instances where it's very hard to trace the source of a noise, and I certainly wouldn't want to be roaming around by myself in the middle of the night trying to track it down! It does need to be triple glazing, not double. I was told that it's what they use for office windows at Heathrow, but I've no idea if that's true. It doesn't make the room completely soundproof, but it does make a huge difference. There must be no gaps anywhere, even very thin ones, where noise could get through.
  5. Maybe just stick to describing what they did, rather than calling them anything? Though I completely understand your frustration, having encountered similar people in official positions in the past who you wonder how they ever got their jobs, grammar.
  6. They have a dress code? We looked through the window on Sunday night. Sadly it seems that the lovely tiled floor has been replaced with something that looks like laminate, and there is some absolutely hideous wallpaper (my opinion only, I realise people have different tastes) above the end of the bar. I can't remember what was there before the wallpaper. ETA: Ooops!!!! Sorry, I was talking about the EDT! Thanks to Malumbu for pointing it out!
  7. I don't know what hours Southwark Noise Control work now, as I think they were changed, but it might be useful to speak to them about this, and also to see if your immediate neighbours are also affected by the barking? If you keep a record (as in your post above) that would be useful for the noise control people. Also, you shouldn't have to do this, but some years back when my sleep was constantly disturbed by a neighbour's boiler going on and off all night (I assume it was faulty) I eventually changed my bedroom window to one with triple glazing.
  8. I think Malumbu was referring to any instance of calling people clowns. He didn't say you were referring to TJMC. It happens quite frequently on here, it brings down the level of debate and possibly doesn't incline others to take your views seriously, however valid your points may be
  9. I have a very small garden with a "pond" in an old Belfast sink and a couple of other small water containers used by birds and sometimes frogs. I have had frogspawn, but it usually gets eaten by something (no idea what. Cats?) though I have had tadpoles and froglets in the past. I had never seen any newts until a couple of years ago when I opened the door of my tiny shed and found a pile of eggs just inside and a newt hastily scarpering out of a hole at the back of the shed. The eggs must have only just been laid. Had I not seen the newt, I would have had no idea what they were. It seems a strange place to lay them. Sadly they didn't come to anything, they just sort of dried up. Malumbu, I would like some of your frogspawn if you have any to spare? Or if anybody else has any?
  10. It may not be possible for you, but depending on the amount and frequency of the waste it might be cheaper for you to take it to the tip yourself? There is a separate compartment (?) there for garden waste. Or, depending on the nature of the waste and the size of your garden, you could compost it and use it on your garden, or chip/shred it and also use it on your garden?
  11. Horniman pathetic?! Realise it's predictive text, but not sure what you meant?
  12. Thanks, I had googled! There is loads of info online, but I just wondered if anyone locally had more specific knowledge. It looks like it's probably too early for it to nest, but nevertheless I don't want to drive it away, as I like having birds in my garden!
  13. I've just seen a wren in my garden ❤️ I haven't seen one there for years, though of course it may have been there, just hiding. Unfortunately it seems I may have left it too late to cut back my thug of a Holboellia. I just googled (re the wren, not the Holboellia) but I'm still unsure. I don't want to drive the wren away if it's about to build a nest in there (or has one already). Can anyone who knows more about wrens than me advise? Also, as the Holboellia flowers have a wonderful scent later on, I probably should have cut it back after it flowered last year 🙄
  14. I lost track of where this thread was going some time ago 🤣🤣🤣
  15. I know it's not a first post, if that's what you mean? You can see the number of posts a forum member has made by clicking on the letter next to their name. You can also see when they joined the forum and you can see what recent posts they have made. Do you know that the OP was "posting for a friend", or are you just guessing?
  16. I'm still quite confused, but never mind! I suppose it depends on exactly where you live and how far you are willing to walk! If you are getting the 484 in that direction (ie heading towards Camberwell Green) you can get off at Oakhurst Grove and walk up Crystal Palace Road. Or you can get off at Goose Green and walk up Lordship Lane (or get another bus) or walk round the back of the EDT and then up Crawthew Grove. It all seems like quite a complicated way to get back, but then with the loss of that part of the 40 route, any way is now, if the trains aren't running as scheduled. Or you can get a 12 from Peckham up Barry Road.
  17. That might have been the case if it was a first post, but it isn't, which makes it less likely. It would be sad if people were put off from posting on here when they have had a good experience at a new local business because they think it will be assumed that they have some connection with the business.
  18. What time is "early morning"? If it is disturbing your sleep, have you gone to talk to them and/or their parents and ask them to scream more quietly? Children do play loudly! I have acupuncture sessions at a community acupuncture clinic next to the playground of a nursery school, and they are more restful when there are no children in the playground 🤣
  19. Crikey, that seems a bit niche. How many people use samphire in their recipes?! Admittedly I am out of touch with current cooking trends 😄
  20. Sounds great! What is the cost of a manicure?
  21. What would usually happen in a case like that? I would have thought if it was an XL Bully and attacked another dog, it would be considered dangerous and be removed from its owner? Is the system more complicated?
  22. The dentist in North Cross Road is also (or was very recently) accepting NHS patients, and both dentists I have seen there since registering with them are very good. The restorative dentistry consultant I have been seeing at King's commented on what a good job one of them had done on a temporary filling when a large part of my tooth fell off (it has to be crowned).
  23. A builder said that to me once! What I should have said (but thought of it too late) was that given that I was paying him to do a job, I expected that my glass would be full, not half full 🤣 But yes, you are right in this instance!
  24. Just had a flyer through the door. Posting here for people who haven't had theirs yet. The 50% off food is for three days only, and advance bookings only. I liked the EDT as it used to be, so I really hope the changes won't be too massive. Last time I looked through the window the bar seemed to be still in the same place, but who knows. Think I'll wait a bit to try the food. When The Lordship launched, we went for a meal there and let's say things didn't go smoothly 😂 Anybody who was there will know what I mean 😂 They have redeemed themselves since, I hasten to add 😂
  25. It's great that the council will do this, but it does seem a costly waste of their scarce resources, unless there are factors which I don't know about? Surely rather than dealing with a few piles of dog poo on request on an as and when basis they need to find some way of addressing the whole problem? What do other boroughs/countries do? Have things got worse since COVID, when the dog population seems to have quadrupled round here? Did some people acquire dogs without thinking through the less cuddly aspects of ownership? Could dogs be trained to use a litter tray and/or bury their own poo, like cats do? 🤣 (That was a joke, btw).
