That's not the way I > want to be but I'm sick of it. xxxxxx I have started doing that too, at least after dark. I too am sick of unwanted callers. It's bad enough being inundated with spam on my landline (and yes I am registered with TPS). It's recently started on my mobile as well :(
  2. Did the wing mirror breakage happen at night? Or could it have been during the day? Because I had words with a schoolboy this afternoon who was standing at the back of a car opposite my house and trying to bounce it up and down. If it had been my car, the words would have been rather stronger :)) He wasn't at the wing mirror end, and his mates were just watching from the pavement, but now I'm wondering whether there is some kind of car-attack craze amongst local schoolkids ....

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also Kotaanisqatsi would be fun on a big screen > locally. > xxxx Bizarrely, the last time I saw that was in a restaurant - can't remember what it was or what it was called - in Lordship Lane. I think it was whatever was there before GBK moved in. They must have had a DVD of it or something.
  4. This may not be of help if you have a really big problem, but I had mice in my kitchen for the first time ever around Christmas this year. I think it was because food such as cheese was left out which normally wouldn't have been, due to lack of room in the fridge with all the Christmas stuff. The mistake I made was not covering it. It was very sweet in a way - they ate grapes, carefully discarding the skins which they left in little piles. Somehow they got to the bottom of a bowl of fruit where I found an apple with everything eaten including core and seeds, apart from the whole of the skin, which apart from a small hole where the mouse got in was completely intact :) I THINK I have sorted it, fingers crossed, by keeping all the surfaces scrupulously cleared of crumbs etc, and by putting all the food away (though I did have to put the Christmas cake on top of the fridge-freezer :)) ) However I bought a dual-entrance large humane mouse trap from the internet, just in case I need to use it .... Don't mind giving a home to mice during the cold weather, but not when they c*ap in my kitchen :( Waste not, want not, if you do end up with dead mice, here's what you can do with them: http://www.boxpark.co.uk/event/taxidermy-workshop/

    Rye Lane

I got seven huge (and fresh) bulbs of garlic in Khan's for ?1.29 :) Seeds (flowering annuals) for small gifts for a kids' party pinata - four packets for 99p. Downside is now I've got to wrap up thirty packets of seeds ..... have been assured they all have gardens .... (kids not seeds) And am now a total convert to Lidl ..... last week got a decent size Rosemary plant in a nice terracotta pot, all for a fiver .... it even had bark mulch on top of the compost :)
  6. Mouse-stuffing classes in Shoreditch ..... https://uk-offers.timeout.com/deals/experience-taxidermy-offer?cid=tolddem2ndrow1taxidermy2502 Could this be the answer to the mouse invasion of ED? ETA: OMG the class has SOLD OUT!!! :(

    Rye Lane

I was shopping in Rye Lane yesterday afternoon. Had a great time, got lots of bargains, did not notice any smells or litter or anything else untoward. I think it's brilliant that we've got that high street within walking distance of Lordship Lane, with a completely different feel and different kind of shops. As for demographic changes, surely they happen in many places in London over time.

Somebody told me that they also do half-price tickets for everybody on a certain day of the week, but I can't see anything on their website about that, so it may not be true. Personally I am over the moon that I won't have to do the 37 run to Brixton any more :) ETA: And I have always found the Peckham cinema to be a soul-sapping experience on the occasions I have gone there.
  9. Be interesting to know what the timescale is, ie when we can actually go and see a movie there :)

  11. "Pre-planning application"? I am confused now! Is this definitely going ahead and it's just the details which need to be discussed, or may it still not go ahead?
  12. Was St Anthony's church once on the site of what is now St Thomas More Hall? The hall does/did belong to the church ....
  13. Could you clarify? I thought the hall was to become the cinema? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1216470,1274481,page=3#msg-1274481
  14. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1146219,1274479#msg-1274479 ???
  15. I saw it yesterday afternoon. I think it looks great. It was attracting a lot of interest, and everybody seemed to like it :) Thanks everybody involved.

  17. Not only were they only running every half hour on Saturday, but the train times given on the website were wrong. I turned up in plenty of time to get the 1.18, only to find that the trains were actually at 1.04 and 1.34, and I had just missed the 1.04. I had to get a bus to the Elephant and then pick up the Northern Line from there. Only just made it to my class in Camden. GRRRRR.

Discovering this transformed my life :) ETA: Also works for emails and Facebook.
  19. Thank you ianr, I never even noticed. Just glanced at it when it came. Just dug the thing out of my filing pile and indeed there is no opt out tick where there should be one. I'm assuming I'm one of the people who will be sent a corrected form.
  20. Just looked up trains for tomorrow, and they are running, but only every half hour (18 and 48 past the hour). I thought they were more frequent than that on Saturdays - have I imagined it?
  21. Yeh that's brilliant Jah, I saw it on Facebook. the yes/no pie chart made me laugh out loud.
  22. This probably isn't an issue for you in a conservatory, but I was considering Karndean or similar as an alternative to a white painted wooden floor in my kitchen, as the floorboards would have to be laid over concrete, so I got samples. I found that my red hair dye permanently stains them (I colour my hair in the kitchen to avoid staining the bath!). And probably other things would as well. If I drop dye on white paint I can paint over it. As I say, probably not an issue for you but maybe worth bearing in mind.
  23. I'd be quite worried if the rcd kept tripping. Maybe you need to consult an electrician? Alternatively, if you google it there seem to be quite a few online discussions on it.
  24. BJL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So using that logic, how many years would you say > Camden Market has been going - 3? 5? 11? xxxxxxxx Too long! It bears no resemblance to how it used to be :(
