Looking on the dining area from the bar > it appears to me a bit like a school dinner hall > or works canteen. xxxxxx Is the restaurant part laid out like the Mag(nolia) was, then? Because that always seemed like a quite bare and characterless eating area to me.

I'd rather just have one!

The fools with the cash also accept > crap service and quality in these pubs. xxxxxxxx True - but then why would you want to drink there too and accept crap service and quality at inflated prices?

Particularly prejudice, perhaps.
  7. OK, so I created a new combined calendar and (after a bit of faffing about) imported the contents of my existing two calendars into it, expecting then to be able to delete the old ones and just use the new one for 2014. Because it was all getting a bit complicated with two, even though I could see one from the other. BUT It appears the two existing calendars are both by default designated "primary" calendars - one for my Goose email address and one for my Sue email address. Even though they're both under the same name. And having googled blah blah, found that: "Note: It is not possible to delete your primary calendar. Instead, you can clear all the events, rename it, and schedule new events to effectively replace your original primary calendar." SO, it seems that I can't just have one calendar which I can put stuff into from both email addresses? Which is a bit useless? Also other people need to be able to view it/them and it would be a lot easier if there was only one. Advice please? And then I've got to find out how to access it/them from my phone, AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH :(

Rent etc?
  9. They told us we could have our concerts there during the week, but not on a Friday night when bingo was sacrosanct. Too late now!

Have had major problems with the food there though :)) The EDT has Heineken, doesn't it?

  13. That's weird, because all our regular gigs are on a Friday night. We were looking for a regular monthly concert venue, before The Ivy House reincarnated, and we went to the Liberal Club and really liked the space, which would have been ideal for us. Maybe they just didn't like the look of us! :( We liked them! :( We were definitely told they had bingo on a Friday night and wouldn't change the night .... We have an excellent reputation with agents, artists, venues and audiences re our organisation/management of gigs ... we could have given them references! Water under the bridge now, as our concerts are at The Ivy House and we don't intend to move them unless they chuck us out! :)) (Next one is John Otway on 31 January - tickets selling fast but still some left if anybody wants to see a truly manic performance from a legendary two-hit wonder :)) )

  15. Thanks. And the bingo??

Can't speak for the food but as a pub? > no. not really. seriously. nope. xxxxxx The Mag (in its Magnolia incarnation) always felt a bit "cold" too. Can't remember much about the Magdala apart from the yellow! It's a pity if they haven't improved the vibe, after all the time it took to finally open The Patch. Not been down there and don't intend to, even though it's one of my nearest pubs. I can't understand how it can be touted as a "community" pub with brunch at ?16, even if it comes with bread with flakes of gold on or whatever. Very mixed messages have been given out, in my opinion. If you're going to run a gastro pub competing with the likes of Franklins and the Palmerston, then just say so from the outset. All the other stuff - vertical horticulture on the roof, schoolkids growing your veg etc - is all very laudable but somehow doesn't fit. Not in my world view, anyway, which I fully admit may be bitter and twisted due to currently living on a pension in an increasingly affluent neighbourhood :))

ETA: Shouldn't this thread be in the restaurant/trade section?
  18. What are your twitter and facebook names? ETA: We tried to put on gigs there ( http://www.thegooseisout.com ), but were told that Friday nights were impossible due to bingo, is that still the case?

  20. Excellent dontpanic, hope you'll post future gigs on the forum?

The Bejam store sold freezers as well as frozen food. I think I actually bought one there. ETA: I've never heard of a "Sainsbury's freezer centre", but I stand to be corrected!
