Yes of course it could be, that's what I'm trying to ascertain :) Whatever happened it was obviously a mistake, I'm not suggesting anybody did it deliberately! But if it was due to a lack of communication, that's rather worse - a failure of good PR on the first day of a new scheme, to say the least.

It's that judging even just by posts on this forum (and bear in mind that a lot of people won't read or post on the forum) the problem is wider than that. My brown bin was in full view, and in fact had to be moved so that the recycling in my blue box could be taken out. Which is why I wonder whether it is a different team doing the brown bin recycling. It's possible that it was just Ulverscroft Road which was missed, which was why I also wondered whether the other people who said their food waste hadn't been collected yesterday all lived on that road. I know one does.

They are both a lot smaller than the large brown bin, but unless you have vast quantities of food waste the larger "small" brown bin should be OK :)

tomsav Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No brown bin collection here either. Come on > Southwark, don't stuff it all up in Week One! xxxxxx Has anybody else apart from me reported this to the council? Because when I phoned them just now they said they'd report mine as a "miscollection" and it would be collected within 48 hours :)) When I said it wasn't just mine which hadn't been collected, they more or less said they would only know if people reported it. Then they said maybe it was just my road which had been accidentally missed out. I'm on Ulverscroft Road. Is anybody else whose brown bin hasn't been emptied on a different road to that?

I've emailed you James, but I don't want to get a particular individual into trouble by giving details about the call. -

I can hardly think Sainsbury's management expect their security guards to put themselves in real physical danger - the guy could have had a knife. As it was it was bad enough. But as you say, we just don't know. And just to be clear, I am certainly not trying to detract from people's bravery in acting as they did. As randombloke says, "I suspect that we all have our own way of dealing with these sort of things in the heat of the moment". Of course if you are dealing with thieves and violent people in the course of your job, you will hopefully have had appropriate training, but I presume that doesn't include voluntarily continuing to engage with somebody who is kicking your head in. Apologies if I've misread the situation.

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi DulwichFox, > Did you report this failure via 020 7525 2000? xxxxxx I just did. Totally useless. They will just report a "miscollection" and collect it "within 48 hours". When I said it wasn't just me, they said "oh well when they come to collect yours they will realise other people's haven't been collected either." Er, how? It's all in closed bins! Then they said, they will realise the whole street hasn't been done. Er, how? When other people phone to tell us. Words fail me. Surely they have a collection schedule? ETA: They must have said "missed collection", not "miscollection", sorry! -
Hi Nero, whilst DulwichFox knows a lot more than me about computer issues, I don't think you need to get too paranoid over this. It only happened to me once a few years ago, all I did was change my email password (not my whole email account), I did nothing else and have had no further trouble. You'd be very unlucky if you did. I'm assuming you have the usual protection (anti-virus etc). I'd have thought your bank would be liable if anybody hacked into your online account, provided obviously you hadn't left your password lying around or given it to anyone :))

As it is, it sounds like he could be rather injured. It's not as if he was saving someone's life - he was stopping someone taking two TVs, who the police would probably have caught later on anyway.

Will be some red faces in the recycling department tomorrow, I guess :))

Maybe they spent so much time and money printing booklets and buying hideous bright blue bins that they forgot to actually give the bin crews their new schedule :)):)):))

THey told me when I complained that its all > above board and approved by the ASA! xxxxxx Naked Wines are absolute crap. I thought their wine must be OK as I had a ?50 voucher from Heals (when I bought a very cheap kettle there :)) ), so I assumed Heals had vetted them. They sell expensive rubbish covered up by a load of flannel about social responsibility etc.. Plus they hook you in via a scheme which seems to be good value but actually isn't. It's not often I can't force something down, but I had to throw some of their wine away because it was undrinkable. I keep meaning to complain to Heals, but now all and sundry seem to be giving away their vouchers. Sorry admin, off topic.

Brilliant! I'm never sure whether to put things obviously dropped on a wall, or to leave them on the pavement, I usually compromise by putting them on a low wall .....

Some of them were the fathers of small children.

It was nothing to do with not having anti virus or spyware software.
