  6. Never mind the apostrophes, it's the florists in ED who don't seem to be able to spell the names of any of the flowers/plants they sell who get me. Never sure whether to laugh or wince. And then there was the one who had a notice on a load of wallflowers saying "Primroses", and when I pointed out they were in fact wallflowers said "Well it says Primrose on the label", so I had a look and that was, erm, the colour of them - as in, scarlet, primrose, orange ....... And then they said, well I don't suppose anybody who has bought a plant will notice :)):)):)) :))

At the last local election the BNP were thrashed in Barking and Dagenham. I was one of the people leafleting crucial areas as part of the Hope not Hate campaign, which was totally successful in its aims of persuading residents not to vote BNP. So I don't think the Dagenham reference is valid any more.
  14. Seriously? Chicken? Cooked or raw? I shall raid my freezer immediately :) Should I drop it in on a piece of string? My neighbour is feeding hers lettuce, but the person who gave me the frogspawn told me the taddies would just live on algae? Haven't seen any magpies or crows in the garden, and certainly not ducks :))
  15. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How does this compare? xxxxxx Yes, I had already looked that up and printed it out, together with Nigel Slater's recipe for "classic bubble and squeak". I intend to take it round to them. They shouldn't be putting something on the menu as bubble when it clearly isn't. I have had it there before done properly, but this is the second time I've had it served up like this. I wonder whether they just can't be bothered to fry it :-S It didn't even taste to have been seasoned. Very strange for Franklins, whose brunches are usually very good.
  16. Oh no, nearly all my tadpoles have disappeared :-S I only seem to have three or four left :-S The other day I saw a cat with his paw outstretched over the tub, do you think cats have got them? A friend also thinks robins eat them??
  17. I've just been served - at Franklins - a pile of mashed potato and cabbage mixture which had not been fried and had no crispy bits on the outside (or anywhere else) at all. Surely the whole point of bubble is that the crispy outside contrasts with the soft middle? Plus the butter gives it a nice taste? I thought they had forgotten to fry it, but I was told it was supposed to be like that :-S Surely not??
  18. Where are you based, Dulwichbeekeeper? I have lots of bees in my garden (though I do try to plant to attract them) so I wonder if they are yours?
  19. Thanks James, will do once I've got the piccies off my camera :) Thanks.
  20. :-S Yes I could have googled it but I thought other people might not have heard of it either, since I hadn't. So I thought it would be useful to have its location on the thread, as it's not in ED. :-S
  21. Sorry if this is not the appropriate place to raise this, but I have spent a lot of effort and money in making the small space in front of my little terraced house look tidy, including having a recess built for my green wheelie bin and recycling stuff. I had everything neatly stacked by the bin - blue box, blue bag, two bags of garden waste and some flattened cardboard boxes, plus some small sheets of wood which were part of the packaging in the boxes and which I was about to take to the tip. I came out of my house after the binmen (I think they are all men) had been to find all the recycling just strewn all over the pavement, and the green bin just left there too. The recess was empty, but nobody could get past the mess on the pavement. I was so annoyed that I actually took photos of it. I know this is a bit Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells, but I want to report it to someone before it happens again, or to someone else. How do I go about that? I suppose at least they didn't just fling everything on top of my plants.
  22. And you get to see twice as many birds! Just can't identify them ....
