  1. You said an "online monthly mag" - if it was a pdf, you would have to email it to people. That's not quite the same as being online, as they would have to download it. That wouldn't be very convenient for being able to access menus etc I think? And sorry, but I suspect many people would just delete it, in the same way as you step over your junk mail that comes through the letter box. I really don't want to be negative but I think maybe you need to think this through a bit more before you spend a lot of time on it?

(I am so ashamed, I read the > Observer and everything) xxxxx OMG I saw an ad for this yesterday on a bus shelter, I am SO SO tempted, and I don't even like Creme Eggs and I hate soft ice cream, and the last time I went to a MacDonalds was in Bangkok circa 1992 :)) And there you have it, the power of advertising :))
  3. Well both of the people who have mentioned amounts of money called the police, and appear to have spoken to the victims, so, er, I guess that is how they knew :)

So now you > know! > xxxxxx They're very pretty but they're ******* invasive, and their roots go quite deep so they're hard to get rid of. They certainly seem to like it around ED, must be the soil I think. The leaves are quite similar to foxglove leaves (though less broad and less grey) so if like me you're trying to encourage foxgloves but keep the alkanet to the back of the garden, it can be a problem trying to distinguish them. Edited to say: Except when they're flowering, obviously. Interested to hear that the flowers are edible, are they related to borage?
  5. I read SE22 every month, but I don't know whether others do - but if they don't, would they look at a website? Don't want to put you off, but a website is a lot of work and keeping it updated is a nightmare :) The vouchers are a good idea, though!
  6. We already have the ED forum and SE22 magazine, plus various other websites I think, so although in theory this is a good idea I wonder whether it wouldn't be an overload of information?
  7. Well you could always do a Gillian McKeith and do a correspondence course to get one :)) Edited to say: I never finished mine either, and it was a bit of a wrench the day I chucked out the filing cabinet full of raw data :)) but I hope if I had submitted it I wouldn't be sticking PhD after my name at every opportunity .......

  9. Oh yeh, that reminds me of two more. People who say "have a nice one". People for whom just "cool" isn't enough, so they say "cool cool."
  10. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue - Kind Regards has now been shortened (by > some) to "KRs".... how cool is that? xxxxxx OMG, FFS :))
  11. Yes I agree, that would be a sensible solution.

  13. But the issue with Melford Road, as I say, is not about the numbers of vehicles using it to turn off Lordship Lane, it's about the fact that even just one or two vehicles have difficulty passing, particularly if larger than a normal sized car. It may have become worse with more vehicles using it due to the no-right-turn at Underhill Road, but it was bad before that. Reversing the Underhill no-right-turn would not result in a trouble-free Melford Road. It might "ease" the bottleneck/congestion, as you say, but it certainly wouldn't cure it.

I can't believe anyone does that !!!!

If you now > ban them into Melford then the congestion/jams > will just be shifted to Overhill/Beaval. xxxxxxx But Overhill Road is much wider than Melford Road, isn't it? Don't know Beaval Road and sorry haven't read the other thread, do you have a link? But the width of/parking in Melford Road, plus buses coming down it, would cause a problem with jams regardless of the number of vehicles involved, surely? Basically, there just wasn't room for one thing to pass another ......
  16. People who end their emails "kind regards"
  17. People who put all their letters/qualifications after their name when they're totally irrelevant in the context they're using their name (grammar)

  23. Why the objection? The bit of Melford Road at the Lordship Lane end was constantly jammed up with cars and buses trying to get past each other, and often not succeeding. It is far too narrow for traffic going both ways when you've got cars parked in the road as well, surely? And there's a bend in the road at that end, too, which made things worse.
  24. Their chips are good! Edited to say: Nun's Head not the Duke, though the Duke did at one point have extraordinarily good chips, at an extraordinarily high price :)
