It's great fun. xxxxxxx Went in the early eighties (I think), took my ex for a birthday surprise, we were was shown around by Dennis, RIP, was amazing, don't know if the experience has changed since then.

I think red squirrels actually have quite distinct tufts on their ears, but I'm not an expert .... but would be very surprised (and delighted!) if it was a proppa red squirrel.

When I lived in Oundle, I used to get a family of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers coming to my birdfeeder (Mum, Dad and Baby) which was brilliant. Never seen one in ED however ....

What was the book? All seems a bit strange to me, why would you go door to door collecting money for a book which "has yet to be published"? Why not wait for the book to be actually published before trying to sell it? And surely door to door isn't the most effective way of selling a book, anyway?

People won't make the effort to go that far imo, unless they happen to live nearby. Dan Maitland ran great nights there in the old Page 2 days, but attendance dwindled, including mine. A trek across the Rye (and then back) on a dark wet cold night is just not appealing in the same way as a shortish walk within ED. Shame, because that space out the back used to be great. Don't know what they've done to it now though, lost track of all the changes to that pub.

Sherwick Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The use of the word 'though' could be critical... xxxxxx You've clearly got as much time to waste as I have :)) (except in my case I'm supposed to be working ...... plus I haven't got the least interest in Mrs Robinson so I don't know why I ever looked at this thread in the first place :)) -

Deep maybe, logical not :)) Edit to say: Had you read the original post, you would have seen that it said s/he had no complaints about service at Mrs Robinson!! Edited again to say: I read the last part of Tru's post purely as a recommendation for Grace and Favour, but maybe Tru would like to comment since deep (?!) things are being read into it :)):) -

I like the CPT too, though I liked it better when they still had Adnams Broadside instead of just the bitter, which is just not the same :)

DHFC has a largish room and a bar which will stay open as long as you want, 3.30am has been about our latest. Bar prices are lower than the pubs round ED. There's also a full sound system there and you will probably get the room for free. You need to do some work (lighting etc) to change the vibe for your evening, but it can be done! It's next to Sainsbury's on Dog Kennel Hill - everyone said no-one would come up there because it wasn't on the main drag, but we've had around 250 people at some of our Goose gigs there. Some of the other places people have suggested may be too small for what you're after? The person to speak to is Davide at [email protected]. Good luck wherever you end up! Great to see others bringing music to the area! Edited to say: I believe the Constitutional Hall will charge you both for the venue and the bar, plus only had Monday nights available last time we enquired, admittedly last year. Edited again to say: The Ivy House is a great space, but is a bloody long haul from East Dulwich, at least the bit I live in, and public transport to it is scarce. However I'm sure they would welcome you with open arms!!

There always seems to be a lot of these generalisations floating around the forum.
