Clearly both my OH and I are extraordinarily thick then, as neither of us realised from the sign outside the 8.30 Mondays to 10pm Saturday thing (and if this is because they can only trade six hours on Sunday, why aren't they open till midnight on Saturday??)
  2. What I want to know is, why Sainsburys have a sign outside saying they're open twenty four hours, then underneath that it says the times they're ACTUALLY open - erm, not twenty four hours. Well I guess they ARE open twenty four hours, just not twenty four consecutive hours, rofl :))

Yeh I was around when Martin Carthy played at the EDT, but hey, I was so blase, seen him so often, I didn't bother going, rofl :)) My OH says he was there (I didn't know him at the time though!!)
  4. Keef,if you mean Andy, Hankdogs et al, they've moved venue, not at the Ivy House any more :) and to the best of my knowledge it was never a folk club as such??

  6. Each to their own, prefer her Dad's stuff :)-D

  9. Ooops sorry quote didn't work, my fault probably
  10. Well we were thinking of a mix of folk dj-ing and live music (my OH Nyge djs at Big Chill, he's half of FolktoFuture). So yeh, Shirley Collins et al may well be part of it (sadly she doesn't sing any more). Thanks for the interest, I had been thinking maybe of Village Inn (ex Page 2 Bar) as within walking distance of ED, but will certainly check out the Hob (never heard of it, don't usually go to FH :) )
  11. :)) Stereotyping, eh :))
  12. OK OK maybe the demographic of ED doesn't lend itself to a folk club, but my OH and I would be up for starting something here - anybody else interested, or are we doomed to a four hour round trip to Walthamstow every Sunday night?? :))
  13. I live just round the corner, and if it was nicer it would be my local, but it's totally unatmospheric, doesn't have a good range of beers, usually pretty empty and - well - just doesn't feel as if much thought or effort has gone into it really. Thank God for the Palmerston !!! :)-D
  14. Yes I had MEGA problems when I used them to rent out my house a few years back, don't get me started (6)
  15. Went down there on Saturday night after seeing a flyer on a lamp post in LL, didn't notice much difference in the decor etc from the Page 2 Bar days, and no real ale on draught, but the music was good and we had a good time, friendly vibe and nice dog, we will definitely go again :)-D
  16. I find the plane noise in East Dulwich very bad, but I guess that's because I don't have double glazing. If I wake up in the middle of the night, once the planes start, I can't get back to sleep again. And you can hear them approaching in the distance long before they go over here, with the noise steadily increasing. I can put up with it when sitting in the garden, but not when trying to sleep (td) I first moved here sixteen years ago, and it wasn't anything like so bad then.
  17. Anterior Trading never seemed to get new stock or change anything, I would have bought stuff there if they'd been a bit more adventurous cos I'm an old hippy, but I'm not suprised it closed down because if you're not going to be on-trend you have to have really good stuff - and they just didn't. But SURELY not another b****y maternity/baby shop ?!?!?!?!?!?!
  18. Great cheese stall, but overall so far the warehouse is somewhat disappointing ..... no atmosphere at all, five minutes and you've seen it all ......
  19. Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm not, there are places for wine, but Theshers > make heir money from good old cans of lager :)-D > > Cheers does okay I gather. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Best place for lager is the Greek deli in LL at the Goose Green end, six cans of Stella or Red Stripe for a fiver - and it does organic wine, as well :)-D
  20. I was very against the idea of Cafe Nero coming to ED, but hey, I have to admit, despite only having been in there once on a cold and rainy Sunday, it was very nice lounging about with free papers and a hot chocolate and watching the rest of ED walk past ....... Now Foxtons, that's a different kettle of fish ..... HTF was that allowed to happen ??????
  21. I'd be up for that and I'm sure my OH would as well :)-D
  22. Neither of the garden centres in East Dulwich is very good, in my opinion (and I used to teach horticulture - and have also worked at Bressingham). There's the Secret Garden in Crystal Palace, and also Shannons in Forest Hill, both with friendly staff and a reasonable range of plants, better than the ED ones anyway. And a great Wyevale on the Purley Way, but that's a bit of a trek unless you're going to Ikea !! But they have a great range of bedding plants for hanging baskets etc..
  23. There's good bread at the stall in North Cross Road market ....
  24. Why are the petition people still out today outside Macey's in North Cross Road? Couldn't bear to get into another discussion with them ..... just winds me up ....
