  1. Crikey, where was this taken from, up a tree?? :)) Or is she very very very tall? :))
  2. Why did you switch if Zen were so good? Price??
  3. Sounds like a good way to spend some of Friday night, provided I don't sample all twenty of the beers on offer as I have to get up early tomorrow :)) :)-D
  4. Nyge and I will definitely be going, but then we're folkies, got to live up to the stereotype, innit :)-D
  5. Crispy on the outside is the most important bit - nothing worse than soggy chips :))
  6. Had a look at this site, but not sure what the significance is? Doesn't have anything to do with broadband speed?
  7. If this helps, I wouldn't recommend Orange either, have friends who have had problems with them ....
  8. I will also check AOL speed if someone tells me how :))
  9. Crossing Zenoria road from the Goose Green end there is a big sign on the wall in front of you and a bit to the right :) Don't know if it's new, only noticed it today :)
  10. My postcode is SE22 9HF so quite near you. I don't suppose you were considering them, but I wouldn't recommend AOL - since I signed up for another eighteen months (to get the "free" laptop) my broadband has been much worse - it was supposed to be faster! Keeps disconnecting for no apparent reason, and the speed doesn't seem that great :X:'(
  11. Not long ago I had someone come to the door who - I thought - said he wanted to read the meter. Turned out he actually wanted me to change my gas supplier - on the doorstep - of course he had no information to give me, they never do, they think I'm just going to say "oh yes, what a good idea, of course whoever is paying you to say so must be much cheaper than my existing supplier, give me that form and I'll sign it immediately." :)):)):)) Edited to add: What drives me mad are those teatowel sellers, their stuff is rubbish and so is their story :'(
  12. But doesn't the CPT have a notice outside along the lines of "no dirty workclothes?" In which case the original poster may not be welcomed ..... maybe it doesn't have it any more, but it always used to put me off going in - immaculately dressed as I always am :)) it seemed a strange notice for this particular pub ..... :))
  13. Thanks, that made me feel better :)
  14. All I can say is, if armed police came, my OH does not know the difference between a water pistol and a gun, which may or may not be a good thing :)) I said (shortly before retreating sharpish) he's got a gun, my OH disagreed .... I hope if I had really thought it was a gun I would have called the police ..... but the woman seemed to live in the house, know at least one of the men, and own at least one of the dogs .... I don't know Dunstan's Road, but it was a house on the left as you go down the hill. Interesting how your reactions are not how you would predict (though actually I think I probably can predict mine now, having got behind my then OH when confronted with a possibly rabid dog in Nepal and retreated to the back of the bus when someone was being kicked downstairs on a 12 in Peckham. Oh yes, and there was the time I hid behind the thirteen year old son of a friend when a blazing tar barrel got a bit close in that place in Devon they think it's safe and fun to roll blazing tar barrels down very narrow streets with spectators lining the pavements). Coward? Yep ....
  15. If there were ferret racing, like the last country fete I went to, my cup would runneth over. I won 20p :)) :)-D
  16. Well congratulations, it was great. I can't help with having more food stalls, but the Goose would be happy to organise some folkie stuff for next year's festival - not just music - Morris dancers anyone? xx :)-D

Still, a nice bottle of Old Peculier (sic) made up for it, thanks Ray :)-D
  18. Well, sadly the Goose would have to charge quite a bit more than ?20 for a ticket for Eliza's band, and even then would have to sell out just to break even, if her price is still what her agent quoted me earlier this year! And that's without a free album! So we can't compete with the album launch, sorry East Dulwich. :-S One day, bigger venue ...... maybe ...... Meantime, hey, come and see her Dad !! :)-D
  19. Ah that makes it all quite clear :))
  20. toms Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > censored xxxxx Eh? What's going on here? Was about to reply to Tom's post then found it had disappeared and was in fact censored... ?!??!?!?! :-S Surely it wasn't his mention of tissue ?!??!?!??! :-S
  21. We were around that area about that time on the open house arts crawl. There was something going on in Dunstans Road involving a gun (or something resembling a gun), two dogs and rwo young men plus an older woman who was trying to stop whatever was happening happening. One of the young men lying on the road with a dog apparently attacking him. Being a total coward I dragged my OH away because it all looked very heavy. xxxx Edit: Feel very bad now that I didn't call the police :(

Have I missed something here? Has anyone else spotted the use of the word "tummy"? :-S
  23. Right - now I'm going to enter into the spirit of things by having a moan about Green and Blue. Seduced into their shop yesterday by a large display of Breton cider near the open door, and bought a bottle to enjoy in the sunshine. It stood on the counter dripping wet, having come out of a container of water. It continued to stand there after I paid for it, whilst both I and the G&B bod stared at it. Then he just said "We don't have bags." Erm, maybe you could have put a bit of tissue paper round it like wot you do for the wine, or doesn't a ?3.55 bottle of cider warrant the expense? Carried it away with wet hands while it dripped down my clothes. Preferable to having it drip all over the contents of my handbag. Great. Maybe they thought I was riff-raff and undeserving of a bit of decent service. Shame, I've always like Green and Blue. :(
  24. Whatserface Carthy is Eliza Carthy, Martin Carthy's daughter :)) Erm, she's done quite a lot besides the Imagined Village :)) Martin is married to Norma Waterson (Eliza's mother), one of the Watersons (erm again, very famous folkie family). Martin was a huge influence in folk music in the sixties revival and is still one of the main players on the folk scene in the UK. The Goose can't afford Eliza, she now ony appears with her (excellent) band at ?2k plus a time :( We did try !! :)-D
