  1. the 37 goes from East dulwich to Brixton. Re cycling: there are very safe routes -- probably take 40 mins -- they don't involve bus lanes.
  2. I don't think (from experience) that they will treat it as abandoned if it is taxed and insured. Free parking is free for all. Obstructing the disabled parking bay might work if the person who needs it complains. 3. TFL is run by the mayor. The Greater London Assembly members would probably be the people to contact for assistance. The Southwark member is Florence Eshalomi. Caroline Pigeon who is on the Transport Cttee is a former Southwark councillor.
  4. Rye Lane closure: Exhibition and drop in at Rye Lane Chapel in Rye Lane (near Primark) on November 1st 4-7pm. Loads of detail of bus diversions etc. This is being organised by Southern Gas Networks. There will also be details of the rolling programme of works. Full discussion at Peckham and Nunhead Community Council on Weds November 14th. Meeting at Harris Academy(112 Peckham Road SE15 5DZ) starts at 7pm work to start Monday Jan 7th 2019 and last 13mths. https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/rye-lane-to-close-from-january-7th/
  5. An effective way to contact the council over this is to use Fix My Street https://www.fixmystreet.com/my -- or if you feel this is too urgent to phone 0207 525 2000 and report it.
  6. It will. Tree officers love trees. email address and phone no here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/environment/trees/tree-preservation-orders-and-conservation-areas
  7. One ways (particularly lovely straight ones) tend to increase speed.
  8. Land beside the railway will belong to Network Rail.
  9. apcoa will ticket vehicles parked on the pavement -- the kerb ie the stone edging -- is not enough Phone 0207 708 8587 and report them. Difficulty arises with transient dangerous parking which may be gone by the time they arrive
  10. Veolia charges the council for what it does. The council pays for everything that Veolia does. The council has to decide what the ratepayer (us) will pay for additionally ie what the council will not pay Veolia to do and what it will pay Veolia to do. The bulk household refuse collection was paid for by Southwark for a long time. Many councils have always charged (ie not subsidised) it. Several years ago the council decided that it would no longer subsidise the BHR collection but users must pay. The balance in the decision is between the cost of clearing up after dumping (because of the charge) and the cost of the subsidy.
  11. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/recycling/recycling-centres/reuse-and-recycling-centre?chapter=2 Looks like southwark do it. I think it's important to recycle energy-saving bulbs because they contain mercury which is notoriously bad for us.
  12. Report it to Apcoa on 0207 708 8587. They will ticket it and then can arranged for it to be removed as an obstruction.
  13. https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/route/176/ You are right. The journey planner has strange obsessions sometimes. You can google the buses direct -- this also has route obstructions etc which is always useful
  14. Brenchley gardens to walworth road? 63 to Kings on the Rye traffic lights and then 484 (0ver Dog Kennel Hill) or 12 through camberwell green (and up the Walworth Road). https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/ It's by no means perfect but a good place to start. 484 probably the quicker option and probably as fast as a car. If you are at the other end of Brenchley Gardens then the 484 goes from outside St Anthony's church on Inverton Road. If you want the E&C end of Walworth Road then the 12 is the better bet because it goes all the way up. so from that end take the 484 to Camberwell Green and then take half a dozen buses which go up the Walworth Road.
  15. The banned right turn is not new. It is a comment on the current position. The change is a no entry for cars someway along champion Hill ie not at the junction with Dog Kennel Hill. Traffic from the west will be unaffected. Traffic going west from Dog Kennel Hill along champion Hill will not be able to access Denmark Hill. The consultation https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/championhilltrial/ closes Oct 22nd
  16. A GP can request removal of a patient from her/his register provided s/he has reasonable grounds for doing so and, in most situations, s/he has given the patient a warning. The warning must be given to the patient within the period of twelve months prior to the date of the GP's request to the CCG to remove the patient. The warning must inform the patient that s/he is at risk of removal and explain the reasons for this. A GP can still request a patient is removed from her/his register without a warning if:- the reason for removal relates to the patient's change of address; or the GP has reasonable grounds for believing that the issue of a warning would either be harmful to the physical or mental health of the patient, or put at risk the safety of people connected to the GP's practice, for example, practice staff or other patients; or Have you moved house rather than them changing their catchment area? Ask the surgery to clarify the legal basis on which they make this request, pointing out the 4 weeks is a short time for such a major change, and if you are not satisfied with the answer I would raise your complaint with the Clinical Commissioning Group.
  17. http://www.londonbuildingcontrol.co.uk https://www.lease-advice.org To object legally I think you need the First Tier Tribunal Property Chamber. https://www.lease-advice.org/advice-guide/application-first-tier-tribunal-property-chamber/ https://www.gov.uk/courts-tribunals/first-tier-tribunal-property-chamber
  18. https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/barryroad/ Closes October 14th. So only open for about 3 weeks. The pre-amble says: Southwark became a 20mph borough in 2015. However, a review of average speeds has shown that in some areas speeds are much higher than this. On Barry Road average speeds exceed 24mph, with many vehicles exceeding 30mph. Residents have told us that these speeds can make the road dangerous for pedestrians and other road users. We have a responsibility to take action to ensure that legal speed limits are observed and protect the welfare of all road users.
  19. Research M&S planning permission. If it refers to the delivery arrangements then complain that they are not keeping to the terms of the planning permission
  20. The Bike Project (12 Crossthwaite Ave SE5 8ET)takes second-hand bikes, fixes them up, and donates them to refugees and asylum seekers. Some of the bikes are sold in their shop, to help fund their work. I think the vandalised and part-stolen bikes left on bike stands in Southwark are donated to them after removal, rebuilt and then given away or sold. https://thebikeproject.co.uk
  21. There's clothing bank at the junction of Hichisson Road and Cheltenham Road. I saw it from the top of a bus
  22. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/guide-to-parking/dropped-kerbs-and-driveways Says pretty clearly they can issue PCNs for blocking access to driveways. Could be lying, I suppose
  23. Citizens Advice has a dedicated leaseholders team who deal with council leaseholder problems. Call their adviceline 03444 994 134 If you cannot get through (people often say no one answers) then go to a drop-in session -- arrive before 9.15am and you can expect to be seen at 10am https://www.citizensadvicesouthwark.org.uk

Seems I am stuck between crap Thameslink > trains and now bike mugging threats! There is an alternative to the Canal Path using Sumner Road -- it's part of the old London Cycling Network and plans are in hand to improve it again. A lot depends on where you are going of course. If you PM me and tell me your approx start and finish points I can suggest a route.
