Depending on how long you will be looking after the children you probably should look into registering as a child minder with the Care Inspectorate. http://www.careinspectorate.com/index.php/register-a-care-service/register-a-childminding-service The site says: Childminders must, by law, register with the Care Inspectorate. The legal definition of a childminder is a person who works with children for more than 2 hours a day in the childminders own home for reward.

Is there a photo attached? That is meant to be the proof that you did it. If there is no photo or no signs then take some photos yourself showing that what you did is permitted and appeal within the time limit. Be careful because the grounds for appeal are limited to relevant matters -- things like "I've done this for years" etc would not be grounds for appeal but if there are poorly sited signs (or no signs) or the photo does not show that you did anything wrong then you can appeal. It's possible that this has always been banned and the camera has only just been installed. It's also possible that it's not correct. -
Gala festival in Peckham Rye park
Sally Eva replied to DoctorM's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
People don't always lose by sharing. There's a Fun Fair in Burgess Park at the moment. Huge, noisy etc. Some of the money brought in by that may be spent in Peckham Rye Park -- we've just had a new playground which is very popular and ugly tarmacked areas have been grassed over -- gone forever. Maybe it's our turn to make money to benefit others. Free firework displays save lives -- surely good even if we don't go to them ourselves. -

This can be an enjoyable occupation carried out under police protection. It's called Community Speedwatch and is organised jointly by the Met, TfL and members of the community (ie you and/or ANO). You (the volunteer or ANO) is trained to use a speedgun. You have to wear hi-vis and stand in a prominent position (must give these speeders a chance) and then call out the numbers you see on the gun to the policeman who writes them down with the make and registration no of the vehicle. Drivers then get rude letters about the calibre of their driving and warnings to improve it. To join in email [email protected]. His photo is attached. He's a very nice, affable guy with a strong desire to protect the elderly, vulnerable and children by improving standards on the roads.

there is a great deal of bike parking at the Elephant and Castle around the back of the Bakerloo station. The whole area is covered 24/7 by South Bank Uni security who have people on the road between the University buildings (which is part of a major cycle route) Anyone wanting advice or assistance to do this journey by bike should email [email protected] (can be slow) tweet @southwarkcycle or text 07842 640 207 rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ... or, there is loads of space around Elephant > tube and a lot of development (with Section 106 to > be leveraged); Southwark could have built a secure > bike park like the one at Finsbury Park. This is what I was told when I discussed being tail-gated on my bike by cars with threateningly loud, revving engines. I had always told myself that the driver didn't mean to threaten me -- they were just unable to control their car -- I'm not sure that either was re-assuring. And yes, I was told (possibly by exdulwicher) that a good driver should be able to not do this exdulwicher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > seenbeen Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > someone should remind the speeding > cyclists....I'm > > dreading the new 'healthy streets'. > > It's quite astonishing how there can be complaints > about being held up by cyclists (and there always > are - the usual rants about how someone was "stuck > behind" them while they trundled away at 10mph for > miles upon miles) while there are also complaints > about speeding cyclists. there must be a reason why the people behind this are not disclosing their names. This thread doesn't reach everyone in ED (or even probably a high proportion) but no one is coming forward to say "it's me/us". They are well-defended but not by people with names. The posters are being put up in shops but the owners of the shops disclaim all knowledge of whose they are. That seems weird to me but shop-keepers want all their customers and 25% voted for a CPZ. that's one reason I thought of -- it could be wrong -- I couldn't think of another but I expect others can. -

write to your councillor, copy to Richard Livingstone, complaining that the council is re-publishing and may be taking notice of the views of an organisation which appears to have no substance ie no name/address/email/twitter etc. I think they must have given more detail to the council otherwise they could not have received any opinion from them ie the opinions of this group must have been sent by email or by post. If by email then there will be an email address, if by post then I would assume some sort of signature and address and phone no. However, if the council persists without explanation (they might say that given the level of confrontation and hostility on this issue the shopkeepers who comprise it fear a boycott if their names are published) then I would start to use the council's complaints procedure which rapidly escalates to the Local Government Ombudsman. -

Sinister anti-CPZ posters in shop windows
Sally Eva replied to Lowlander's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I went to the closing down sale of the kitchen shop at the Goose Green end of LL. I asked the owner why he was closing. He said taht the landlord believed that he could get a much higher rent. He said his shop was profitable but wouldn't be at the higher rent so he had no option but to close. He was losing his livelihood. I haven't looked recently but for a long time the shop was empty and the economic situation hasn't got any better. edanna Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it?s exorbitant rents that are the biggest > risk to independents. > > > NewWave Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Either way its the death knell for our local > > buisnesses and characterful high street. > > brace yourselves for more independent traders > > closing and LL full of chain stores chain > > restaurants and estate agents. > > I saw it happen in North Kensington despite > > widespread opposition by residents and traders > > alike. -

Election literature is required to carry a name and address so that those responsible can be known and held to account if, for instance, the literature is racist or fraudulent. it seems good practice to put contact details on other campaigning literature but it's not required by law. One of the basic purposes is to stop outside interference with elections (ie the Russian bots which seem to have interfered in the US). The internet makes this harder to police because so much is anonymous on-line. The anonymity seems to make it easier for people to be rude and abusive. -
Great no-packaging place in Nunhead which does olive oil and detergent (and lots of other things). It's next door to Goodcup, picture, description and review here https://gozerolondon.com/2019/01/26/bring-your-own/ It's very good

Applying for an HMO on a terraced 4 bedroom family house
Sally Eva replied to happyduck's topic in The Lounge
Have a look at this https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/renting-a-home/student-housing/students-in-private-rented-accommodation/student-housing-living-in-a-house-in-multiple-occupation-hmo/ It says students but it covers every place where more than one household is sharing at least one room ie a kitchen or a bathroom. A couple is a household. Two tenants who are friends rather than a couple are two households -- definition is to do with sharing bed, bank account, shopping, meals etc. Quite big fines. To some degree the rules are local ie depending on how much enforcement the LA is doing. So the advice above by GHlip is good. southwark property licensing here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/business/licences/property-licensing?chapter=2 NB also the stuff at the end about applying for planning permission for a change of use. Your neighbours may worry about noise etc
