Not everyone is born a winner, some work at it against the odds. Depending on what country you are born in you could say the same that we are all life's winners living with the privileges that can sometimes be taken for granted.
  2. haha good one daizie - at least I know I am ahead of schedule with something ;) and yes Gavin it kinda depresses me too to see the shops full of Christmas cr@p so soon. Happy Easter everyone.
  3. How about trying one of the larger branches of WH Smith at one of the major stations (they should be open very early)? good luck

Anyway, who on the EDF used to sing the praises of Borough Market ~10-15 years ago? My brother used to work in that area back then and I am sure it wasn't as 'trendy' as it is now (although happy to be corrected on this). The forum will be a great historical record for us to look back on in a decade's time when E&C is full of etc etc .. :) I hear Nick Cave's band played at the old cinema there last night too! :D

I went along to the Actress, was a good night and nice to see some familiar faces again. The tumblers were good. No clowns or acrobats tho ;)
  8. Shocking!(!!) Do keep us posted on how you get on. Oh ... and good luck with that letter to the director A, .. Captain S.
  9. narnia - you want to know if bob is still in Spain ? ;)
  10. Cate, the market sounds fab - good to know there is somewhere to try Hungarian langos (tu) I miss the street food from India which is what I am most familiar with. Will be nice to try out some different varieties. where exactly is the market in E&C (guessing its easy to find?) cheers

CC you hit the nail on the head with 'use as little as possible'. I think a lot of work has to done on energy efficiency and consumer behaviour/understanding. I'm lucky (?!) in that I don't have or need a car anymore* but appreciate this is not practicable for a lot of people. * although I could easily choose to have one as an expensive luxury, then I would be driving to the beautiful Dorsetshire coast every weekend :)
  12. Oh ... the Royal Society published a revised guide on the science of climate change this week. Its worth a read if anyone is interested. I would attach a link but I'm way too dim (or maybe lazy) to work out how to do it from my phone.
  13. SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I read katies post as pro-science just against bad > science. Spot on Sean. Huguenot I don't particularly care whether you think I'm stupid or even a considerably stupid prat. Or my 'jokey' persona. Hold the front page, just spat out my coffee (all the way from south america) - are you telling me al gore is not a scientist? You could have given me some warning. Now to quote dear old Terry Thomas esq, must dash* ... * I have some indulging to do.
  14. I love North Cross Road market - I received the letter yesterday and am in full agreement with extending the market etc. Any traders are welcome to the space that my 4x4 used to take up before I moved it out to the country.* Cheers and good luck everyone, love the market. Will def shop there both days. One day is never enough. Disclaimer:*ironic font use here.

Agree with this sentiment but the video is an illustration of the dire, patronising, nauseating "scientific" "facts" we are all (sadly) subject to these days. Cherry-picking of data and 'facts'. Great. What were the complaints? Too graphic? Too ironic (being set in a school and all, I mean, are we really having children in these eco-aware times, huh?) etc, etc? Jesus. Dubious as Al Gore's "Science". * shoots self (composts potato peel first) *
  16. Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Am I missing something here? Isn't burning gas, > where ever it comes from, still pushing CO2 into > the atmosphere? No Loz, you aren't missing anything at all. A lot of these "eco" friendly companies neglect to tell people just how much COAL they are actually burning (in the UK - its still a high figure but its a well-kept secret so sssshhhhhhh) in order to keep the lights on etc ...

  20. soooooooooooo true legalb - and that's just the men ;-)
  21. but if someone gets banned, its because they alone are responsible for what they post, no? narnia - someone who registers and posts abusive/antagonistic/etc messages is just as likely to register under a misleading username as not. In my opinion anyway.
  22. :)) :)) senito aliquos crocs contra me conspirare! Edit: blimey, do I type that slowly?! where did all those posts appear from? bananas indeed - apples are way more patriotic dontcha (spelt correctly btw) know .. ? ;)
  23. brum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You can be exempted from wearing heels LM as long > as you provide a note from your doctor. oh this is toooo tempting I mean, would it be very bad form to link notes from the doctor to the wearing of crocs? would it? ;) * hides from LM *
  24. oh ... If we're talking scoundrels, where is that dear old chap, Terry Thomas esq ? :)
