  1. Sorry Brendan . . Pont Neuf
  2. Well next time you serve time in the kitchen (I remember you have too much time on your hands) I'm up for a tasting! Re the starters, I agree and also one of the joys of Lebanese food. Another good nomination (Al-Dar) for the ED area instead of the indistinguishable curry houses (TN excepted).
  3. For what its worth I used to be an NTL user. Moved home within the area (just as it was being rebranded) and it was an unmitigated disaster. Without going into detail I showed them the finger despite many phone calls offering free months etc. Tried BT and wasn't impressed again and found their customer service even worse than Virgin (is that possible?). Opted for BE. Have 24mg line, unbelievable service, freephone customer service number and calls are answered within a few rings. Their web site is really user friendly and their communication about upgrades, servicing and billing top notch. What prompted me to post today was an email from them giving me 2 days FREE surfing because it's their 2nd birthday. I can't bear SKY and use Freeview or download progs/films (some in HD quality) that I want to watch. And yes I know ADSL means I probably dont always get the full 24mg, but it's still VERY fast and VERY reliable. Owned by O2 incase you're wondering.
  4. Well maybe . . . Bob can you cook a mean curry?
  5. Tandoori Nights is Pakistani and very good it is too. Bengali curry houses around the Warren St area used to be very good but have now joined the ranks of anglosized curry shops. I'm a big fan of South Indian curry which seems to be getting more popular and can recommend the radna krishna in Tooting. I don't think the BBC will particularly enhance the ED curry experience and would definitely like to see something less mainstream. Shame Jerk rock is closed. Wish there was an equivalent to Mango Rooms here.
  6. Norwood Junction for Edgware Rd? You're 'aving a laugh. Chuck in Hornchurch and Willesden Junction and you've got a deal. Mark I cant believe you didn'r censor C*****s W**d ;-)
  7. Thanks Peckhamboy. Can we sue Columbia Market? Could only find flowers there.
  8. Hang on. I've got 2 Edgware Roads here. Anyone care to swop one for Seven Sisters?
  9. I was down the farmers market in Brixton and I believe all their gear is imported.
  10. I dont think there's ever been a moment in the history of education when the subject of quality, access and provision of schools wasn't an issue. It's a little like shifting sands since a lot comes down to the management of the school and how standards are being implemented. Then of course there's always peoples perceptions which may or may not coincide with the facts. My experience in the ED and surrounding area has been that generally nursery and primary education is of a good standard. To me the issue is the quality (or lack) of state secondary education in the area and the facilities they have which seem far inferior to the fee paying (charity registered) schools saturating the area. I'm not a big supporter of private education but have felt in the past that there was no other good local alternatives. I hear FH Boys has improved lately but for how long? When the rest of my brood come of age am I going to be facing the same predicament?
  11. Screw the rules! ONGAR!
  12. I think he used fossil fuels
  13. Not sure where this is going Domitianus. Why stop at children? Since humans are the cause of this mess lets apply the Logans Run Principle?
  14. Glowing review but why does the media continue to describe South of the River as "Darkest South London". Does the sun not shine here or is it a reference to the occupants? Odd since many journalists live this side.
  15. Latest footage UFO Sighting
  16. She makes Richard B look shy.
  17. Just found this news item Sausage Makers to close after 130 Years Reading their reasons for shutting it sounds like they couldn't keep up with the times. Perhaps they should've focus on just producing sausages. Shame to lose those oldy worldy shop fronts.
  18. I wonder if Kim will be doing Led Zep tickets? Location wise I think it's perfect for Kim. Has a good life/work balance and doesn't have any ambitions to be as big and busy as WR. Cares more about satisfying his hard core customers and being able to get away and shut up shop for at least 4 weeks in the summer.
  19. LOL. Don't expect quick service as he is popular and his customers like to chat. Closed Mon and Wed pm.
  20. But Keef Honor Oak has a great gift shop . . . oops can't say that I am related to the owner!
  21. Macroban, sounds like a good prediction. The previous owner of Foxtons probably got his timing right by selling out for ?370m and the new owners (BC Partners) will be desperate to get an ROI before the market turns sour.
  22. Jah I think it's because technically he's SE23 and as Ted the Max sausage says some people won't walk too far for a local sausage. Mrs Lozzyloz used to be borderline veggie but thanks to Kim now enjoys and appreciates good meat. He always explains where it comes from, what the best cut is etc, and as you probably know Jah, always tells his regulars when something really special comes in. A true craftsman plus good taste in music and cars! No I'm not related in any way. If Kennedys are shutting up shop then something must be up as there are many butchers that are getting it right. Perhaps the grazing on the Rye aint what it used to be!
  23. timtim you are so right but unfortunately we then get another Cafe Rouge. One step forwards, two steps back.
  24. Is that possible? I thought Mark was a hologram.
  25. I think you're right about Sydenham Keef. I don't live there but I think it's got massive potential but not sure what the timeline will be. I think Crystal Palace is another. Now Penge @*&^$ sake!!
