  1. I think the fatal flaw, keef, is you are assuming everyone else is as mature and reasonable as you.
  2. Who's your 'niece' TedMax? Take care, I was caught playing hooky by a boss once - moral: don't sit behind the wicket in a test match that will be on TV.
  3. There is research (somewhere, cue Hugenot) which suggests that children under 12 cannot judge car speeds properly, which means children crossing roads and/or cycling on roads are at a disadvantage. When my daughter began cycling on roads (after the superb free course from Southwark), I researched helmet pros and cons. I came down on the side of no helmet for various reasons, including the fact that those who wear helmets and high vis jackets seem to think that they are invincible.
  4. It's all Annaj's fault. She's been dabbling again with dodgy posts.
  5. I seem to remember a sage person counselling others not to hijack threads (woo or otherwise). This one is about Alpha specifically. If you want a general slag off Christianity thread, start your own. [That'll be two Hail Marys]
  6. Guess that kind of behaviour could lead to Belle Bottom Blues. [sorry]
  7. Just realised I missed Sue's birthday on the 2nd. Big happy birthday wishes.
  8. Well that's really not cricket! What ever happened to a sporting chance?
  9. Happy Birthday Rosie.
  10. R&A, it's simply because it's not ED specific. Nothing sinister, just usual practice. Alas there was a similar thread last night which led to some altercations about moving it.
  11. My new, bestest place for the cricket is the White Horse, Peckham.
  12. Josh, I think it's because this section is pretty much ED specific. Peckham, Camberwell, et al, get relegated to the Lounge.
  13. There's a whole lot of lovin' - Guys 'n' Dolls
  14. Something to do with Mona Lisa? No idea what trombone is a euphemism for.
  15. That's bloody tragic.
  16. I'm about to display some outrageous ignorance: it's a long time since I've watched/played tennis, but one used to have to win by two clear games. What's with a 7-6 win?
  17. I'm sure it's not related to the above, but I came across some very noisy, copulating crickets this afternoon.
  18. Try and stop worrying - I think Kings errs on the cautious side. I had 11 scans and was convinced my daughter was going to have two heads. In the end, she was born with wonky toes which I can live with.
  19. legalbeagle, if you'd been served by a young hunk with a french accent, you really wouldn't need to ask.
  20. I think Sean could sport the sideboards. Who's brave enough to suggest it?
  21. Notonecta glauca - waterboatman on stream to left of oval by the main gates 100s of Minnows (I think) and one moorhen chick in Japanese Garden lake 9 new ducklings on big lake And several unusual bugs in the meadow parts wot I can't identify. Quite a few previously unseen roustabouts on the common.
  22. Beware the 'demerera' sugar bowl, Moos, I'm sure I detected nutmeg shavings.
  23. Two streets behind my house! Pretty gruesome when cat has obviously carried him by his head - one eye down.
