  1. Remember the one from a couple of years ago specifically about Peckham [ahem]. Gangsters would drive round without their lights on. The first person to flash them got shot.
  2. People, if you'd ever used one of the Post Offices in Peckham, you would cherish the one on LL. And yes, the staff are very helpful.
  3. Maybe the old Williams Electrical building?
  4. The road markings have faded quite badly on that road, but, the legal parking on the pavement bit doesn't start until about 15 yards up. If you look carefully, you will see some lines marked half on the pavement.
  5. Ugh to Marathon Man. Can't bear dentists as it is. Always got creeped out by the opening of Lean's Great Expectations, when Pip gets nabbed by the escaped convict.
  6. Bagsy sex monitor. GigGirl, surely you meant: "If there is hope... it lies in the profiteroles"
  7. Bonkers. (polite version)
  8. I think you'll find all redheads are gorgeous. ed. for atrocious spelling.
  9. I hate horror films. The Stepford Wives (original) and Village of the Damned (ditto) are about as strong as I can take it. Inadvertently watched The Wicker Man (had no idea of its genre) which gave me nightmares for ages.
  10. Careful Brendan - that's another wicket - you might do it.
  11. What, for more scintillating dinner party conversation?
  12. Think he might have fallen off his balcony while picking courgettes.
  13. Swallowing chewing gum does something to the guts - can't remember what though.
  14. That's about as likely as the England team developing food poisoning from their bacon butties and Gower, Willis, Botham et al being recalled.
  15. Ah go on Keef. I'm saving a Harlan Coben just for you.
  16. Barring the weather, I think we'll do it. But it will be a hollow victory.
  17. Full marks to the eventing course builders - pagodas and Great Wall of China, etc. Great fun. And what about Mary King - 47 yrs old, and broke her neck a few years ago. Brilliant rider. Well done to our swimmers: gold for Rebecca Addlington and bronze for Jo Jackson.
  18. HonaloochieBobbit?
  19. Argos can supply rings at a modest price. Re the Bish - merely bow/curtsey, mutter "Your Grace" and you should get away with it. If it gets hairy, mention the Irish Embassy.
  20. Second "no bouncers". Nothing more off-putting.
  21. I find Dirk Bogarde's, David Niven's and Alec Guiness' autobiographies absolutely wonderful. Also find Ranulph Fiennes and Catherine Hartley fascinating. Roald Dahl's ABs are also worth a read. And not forgetting Gerald Durrell's "My family and other animals" which is superb.
  22. It did make me cry, but the other day, when Brendan posted it on another thread.
  23. Pretty sure it's legal to shoot grey squirrels. Just warn the neighbours first.
  24. Can't you ask the spirits to tell you?
