  1. Crossings controlled by lights would be ideal.
  2. Yes. I'd be overjoyed if something were done. My son has a friend across the street on that stretch, and, due to the crazy traffic, I cannot allow him to cross there on his own, though he is old enough...
  3. You might consider a bicycle...lots of dcps/ dpl mums cycle...
  4. I have extremely severe nut allergies (dead in ten minutes or thereabouts) and must say, I have survived many restaurants and many years. The risk is actually quite low, and, the only post-food ambulance i've been in was from a nut at a friends house. I think you should avoid thai and indian restaurants as a rule, but, others will be fine - ask questions, and, avoid veggie burgers. Do you know which nuts and the severity of each? I can eat almonds but a cashew is off the charts for me...knowing which nuts and the severity is v. useful...
  5. We have put bins out for arriving new neighbors with signs explaining a moving van is coming. And moved cars into placeholding spots. If you make up a few signs to tape on bins and go around to a few houses and ask if anyone could help and loan a bin - give them a sign...it will work out. Our street diabolical for parking but it has always worked somehow for everyone with the combo of bins, cars, ans understanding neighbors...
  6. I have had good luck and had never run into the dreaded phone consultation. But, yesterday...they insisted When I attempted to secure an appointment for my 10 year old son. I insisted on an appointment, and, was given one for Friday. So, yes, they are still doing phone consultations. I might add that this would have been an impossible thing to consult over the phone on.
  7. Take it by a bike shop and put on some big help-me eyes?
  8. The nice thing in the documents concerning the development is the provision of lots of extra secure bicycle parking for non-residents. That is a GOOD thing!
  9. What do you do if you see a spaceman? Park your car in it man.
  10. Wish there was a like button on the forum...thanks all - cured almost...
  11. C'mon forumites. Make me laugh. I am still fuming!
  12. He was in his 20's and from tne array of man-junk messily strewn about the inside of his car, id guess -- def single. Anyway, not debating whether he needed to drive, just was completely driven mad by his attitude this morning.
  13. A man pulled up in our overcrowded parking street near the train station. And parked smack in the middle of two spaces. I asked him (very kindly) if he could pull forward or backward so that another car might be able to park...and...he said "No, I have to get to the train". With the overcrowded and controversial parking on streets near the station, could people please think of others when they park? Fuming.
  14. Thanks James - that intersection is crossed by lots of schoolchildren and quite dangerous. It is also not terrific for cars. If you could flag that, it would be great. Just took a look at the wonky lamppost. Eeesh.
  15. Omg ms. Darkwood - hope you can enjoy a quiet day of rest. Thanks for writing in - hope your bruises mend quickly, otto
  16. In defense of James Barber, I would like to add I had a reasoned and neutral conversation with him at the library. Thank you Mr. Barber.
  17. Love to see a traffic light or something installed there. Would be helpful for pedestrians as well.
  18. Anyone who can ought to get down to the grove vale library this morning to ask questions - james barber was there, as well as the people in charge of tne consultation. They were all very helpful.
  19. Related but somewhat off topic - but - James Barber -- How about Ed Bikes? Get a few racks...pop one or two in the area of ed that people commute to the station via car and throw a rack or two down by the station...and do a pr campaign to get the drivers out of the cars and onto the bikes? Have a few Nihola's for people to throw their kids in if they are dropping them somewhere on the way to work??? Make them almost free and get local businesses like ummm...foxtons to sponsor the upkeep and costs...;) Or, baring that, get a grant for it... Why not try something new and greener here in Ed besides the controlled parking solution?
  20. Thanks for posting. We are JUST outside of the zone and if this happens we will never ever ever be able to park again. We cannot even park now. Bah. Thanks for the feedback link - have written in...
