  1. oh no - this means I would be stuck in Daventry, wherever that is
  2. would they also be banned from buying property outside their zone?
  3. My five year old son suffered from sleep apnoea - it was quite distressing. Eventually he had his tonsils and adenoids removed (at the lovely Evelina Children's hospital), and all has been well since.
  4. And I bet they'd find some faster racing drivers if everyone could have a go at it.
  5. that's right, someone got killed by a lunatic riding at about 25mph on the pavement down a hill in Devon. Yes, it made the papers, because it's such a rare occurrence - and there's such a groundswell of anti-cyclist sentiment whipped up by the Jeremy Clarksons of this world, people love to hear their prejudices confirmed. But one death out of over three thousand annual road deaths is hardly a significant number (18% of that 3000 killed were cyclists by the way). Mind you, on the positive side, road deaths have been decreasing steadily since 1964 (when there were over 8000 road deaths): http://www.statistics.gov.uk/images/charts/1208.gif http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=1208
  6. "You may have played rugby at school but I'm sure the best sportsmen in your year played football. (No offence!)" We played rugby at my school (a selective state grammar) - football wasn't even on the curriculum. The team regularly played and won against private schools, including Rugby school. Nothing to do with facilities or coaches, our team was just quite good. Mind you, rugby seems only to be played at grammar schools or ex-grammar schools, and private schools (and in the Army?), so no wonder it's got a snobbish image.

  9. "Are the Community Support officers patrolling this patch more often since the incident?" I saw three of them walking down Underhill Rd towards CPT the other day

  13. "Anyone fancy signing a petition FOR a needle exchange, now that this has been raised ? " Great idea Snorks, where do you live? Room for a Drive-thru?
  14. I was overjoyed to find Daytona USA in a French campsite last year: http://www.oao.co.uk/games/video/daytona.jpg
  15. > Is it just me, or, whenever you go into an M&S > food place, you always a) spend a fortune and b) > come away with loads of goodies you never intended > to buy in the first place ... I remember seeing a comparison of supermarket prices for a trolley full of popular items a couple of years ago. M&S food was one third more expensive than the competition.
  16. Since we had kids, I've found Italy particularly friendly - they just love the little ones. Same in France really - we had a week in the Basque country this summer, everyone was very friendly, from the hotel owner to the deckchair attendant. Definitely helps if you speak the language though.
  17. > Hee hee.. me too. Which one? the one with the overrated beardy playwright
  18. > Well, perhaps not calling them 'townies' would be > a start. You're the guest here, you idiot. It's > their home. I grew up in a market town in the Midlands, where 'townies' would beat up anyone who looked a bit different - ie not dressed in an adidas tracksuit and a gold chain. Because that meant you were gay. Or something.

We all hate each other and ourselves.
  20. > hang your collective heads in shame. Whether it's a new Tesco Gigashed, a Casino, or a 24 hour pharmacy, it's wrong to attempt to provide services on the following basis: 1. identify potential goldmine for private company 2. start digging as quickly and quietly as possible in the hope that no-one notices
  21. Sopranos on E4 - back in good form after what I thought was a dismal start to the final season.
  22. hahaha genius - where can we read more of your work?
  23. "but there is a need for this facility in the area." I'll take your word for it, but why put it on a quiet residential street next to a nursery instead of on a well-lit well-policed main road? The answer is simple - the DMC wants this facility on Crystal Palace Rd so they can rake in loads of money - this is not how important decisions should be taken. I don't agree with demonizing anyone either - but why would you let profiteering fat cats decide the location of such services? These are the last people who should be allowed near this decision-making process.
  24. "Can I call these petition people Nazis" Personally, I think you are backing the wrong liberal horse if you prefer to let the Dulwich Medical Center make important decisions which affect the whole community. You seem to mistakenly believe that their motivation for wanting this facility in an inappropriate residential street is to help the poor junkies - it's not, it's so they can make loads of money out of a pharmacy. If it's needed, it should be on the busy, well-lit, well-policed Lordship Lane, a five minute walk away.
  25. > Wembley on the KissMeKissMeKissMe tour - and I I saw them at the NEC on the same tour I think. I was also very bored. Still like the Head on the Door album though.
