  1. Calvin Klein do a product called EDT spray that might do a similar job - you can get it in Harrods. You might need a couple of bottles though :))
  2. The Herne is a great pub for Sunday lunch if you have young kids (we do)- the place is like a nursery on a Sunday! And maybe a tad expensive, but worth every penny if you appreciate half decent food. I had the sea bass last week and it was perfect, and there were no complaints from the others who all had the roast beef. Great puddings and real ale too. Service was friendly and fine.
  3. The only girl I've ever loved Was born with roses in her eyes But then they buried her alive One evening 1945 ...inspired by the Diary of Anne Frank apparently
  4. definitely a grower - I recall not getting it at first. When it finally grabs you though, it doesn't let go. A site for the obsessive completist with movs and live mp3s etc is here: http://www.the-collective.net/~sashwap/ All together now: "Two-headed boooooooooooooooooooy..."
  5. How many people omitted to use apostrophes appropriately, or don't they bother you?;-)
  6. MILF= Mother I'd Like to err... get Friendly with
  7. I liked this album so much I bought the vinyl version too, and the 7" limited edition picture disc of Holland 1945, despite not having a record player:-S
  8. "may sound like an entire Balkan gypsy orchestra playing modern songs as mournful ballads and upbeat marches" sounds right up my street, thanks for the tip...
  9. I think I was at that NEC gig too Georgia! Was listening to Head On The Door last week. Also: Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Airplane Over The Sea Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen Nothing recent tickles my fancy, apart from the latest Killers album, my current guilty pleasure. My younger self would have sniffed disdainfully about lowest common denominator major label sheep music. Getting old does have some advantages I suppose.
  10. Snap the cyclists on the pavement too, print out the pics on A4 and set up a darts game at the Goose Green Fair. You'll make a fortune.
  11. The question was 'Does anyone know what the rules are about cycling on the pavement in London? There are lots of adults who seem to do it around ED - is it allowed? Are children allowed to? What if you're cycling WITH children?' I merely pointed out the Home Office advice to the Police on the matter. Police use their discretion all the time. Interesting how this subject enrages people so much! Remind me not to get a bicycle. Or a dog.
  12. someone called John Kennedy according to www.peckhamsociety.org
  13. British... but they claim it's Italian. They really are a deceitful bunch. http://hilton.org.uk/facade/cambridge-caffe-nero.jpg
  14. Repainting the sign once every thirty years wouldn't cost the earth. http://static.flickr.com/35/65079163_40c027b048_m.jpg
  15. oops wrong thread
  16. I agree with with Keef on this one - I wouldn't buy their coffee either, but at least they've got a nice clean shopfront - it would be nice if certain local businesses on LL took a little pride in the appearance of their shops - Chener books for example?
  17. We thought the pizzas in Mon petit chou were very good.
  18. The Land of Nod (No D - geddit?)
  19. It was in the Guardian Guide
  20. So how did Spymum end up getting featured in Saturday's Guardian? And is Dulwichmum jealous?
  21. obviously this thread's gone wildly off-topic - but did anyone end up going to the French restaurant near the Plough? If so, how was it?
  22. Maybe a little expensive - but Mr Banfield is a really nice guy, and if you live nearby, worth the extra just for that IMO. Also good as he'll cut to size - not all of them do that.
  23. ha - that's the worst offender, with the missing signs (since they fell off), and a rusty corrugated iron fence along the side that looks as if its about to collapse
  24. On the subject of Underhill Rd being neglected, are shopkeepers required to maintain their shopfronts to any kind of standard? Some of the shops up there are crumbling away, with the debris piling up in front...
