  1. Besides, why do we equate diversity > with race. Diversity in my book also means age, > sexual orientation, wealth, political leaning etc. good point - more reasons to love South London
  2. > A diverse population breeds energy, understanding, > learning, cuisine, culture - amongt other things. > > I like those things... yes, me too
  3. soz - I think it is relevant though - "ED is becoming less diverse as a result of recent Demog. changes" - ok, yes it is, a West Indian restaurant's gone, replaced by a chi-chi clothes shop. boo.
  4. I also loved Jerk Rock's food, I miss it.

  6. my neighbour tells me that the cool looking house near the corner of Darrell and Whateley used to be a dairy - and the CAI Vision place off Landells used to be an icecream factory apparently
  7. The nutters in the white coats have been doing a sort of therapy thing for the last few weeks - I think it's all over after this weekend. Very nice people, and a lot of fun, and free tea and cakes, and they like kids. I thought they were Scientologist-types at first, but now I'm a convert. Give it a try. Space Station 65
  8. > I wonder are people more/less honest/inflammatory > when they use pseudonyms. that mostly depends on whether or not they show up to the drink ups
  9. If you like stainless steel, there's a chap on Upland Rd who can make you something: YKL Stainless Steel Fabrications 020 8693 8288
  10. Bishop for me: nice food, nice staff, nice beer. Cheers. (could do with a nice apple crumble on the menu though)
  11. the end of 'The Butterfly Effect' (how embarrassing) and Rutger Hauer's death in Bladerunner is a soppy one too.
  12. Congratulations Keef
  13. ha ha the little boy was asking what daddy's mysterious DVDs are the other day... it'll be a little while before we can share that gem. I also have to keep GTA San Andreas out of sight.
  14. I think it's also about context - in the boozer, with your grown-up mates, it's fine, but at the dinner table, I'd rather not hear it. nb I'm a veteran potty mouth and couldn't have cared less about this until I had kids.
  15. Does this carefree attitude extend to children? In the 'Living With Teenagers' column I don't much like the sound of the way the teenagers call their mum the c word. And I fully intend to advise my kids that the use of such words chez Blinder999 will be frowned upon.
  16. Saw him play live twice - solo at ULU was my best ever gig by some considerable distance. He never showed for the RFH gig I had tickets for, and was gone a few months later, very sad.
  17. Look it up - it's grim.
  18. The genius that was Elliott Smith: Angeles
  19. There's a new cook book out for all us Commies on the board: Axis of Evil Cookbook
  20. "greed and social climbing and the constant sliming up the property ladder" where did that come from? living in a dodgy flat in South-East London hardly makes anyone into Gordon Gekko
  21. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I mean.. My home town was a shit place to live > when I was 18. So I left. But maybe it's really > nice now.. perhaps I should pop back and demand my > right to buy - in the best part of town, of > course. wow if the property market worked that way, it would be like the best bits of communism mixed with the best bits of fascism - a genius third way.
  22. "their own towns" - I have no sense of ownership of any town in which I have lived in the past, especially not Daventry.
